Across the pond in New York, Fashion Week has been keeping the city that never sleeps buzzing. The shows officially started on 10th September, which has given me quite some time to start analyzing the newest beauty trends for Spring 2010. For those of you who are happy to put aside your perky neon and pastel makeup, this is your season to let your inner beauty do the talking!

Social butterfly Caprice Bourret (aka, Caprice), was spotted leaving Nobu last night with just a touch of makeup. Typically, we see her dolled up to the nines, like she is here from the Serpentine Gallery's 2009 Summer Party a few weeks ago. I happen to think Caprice is prettier with a clean, plain face as opposed to layering on the works.

When it comes to holiday makeup, all that glitters truly is gold. There are few shades more universally flattering, and the light-diffusing properties of metallics make skin look soft, warm, and undeniably inviting. There's no better time of year to deck yourself out in a little royal glitter, whether you want to glow in soft candlelight or correct the harshness of fluorescent office lighting.

I asked, and you voted that Bar Refaeli was last night's red carpet beauty queen.
Personally, I was kvelling over her wavy hair, but when I looked a little closer, I noticed her awesome shimmering blue- green eyeliner that was enhanced with a hint of gold in the inner v of her eyes.
Paired with a creamy pink pout and tanned, flushed cheeks, Bar's makeup was aces.

While a revolving bookcase or hidden corridor might not be as feasible in real life, some of these makeup items might have you reminiscing about hidden compartments and secret hideaways.

I know that marketing in schools is nothing new, but a program in Australia is taking things to a new level. A program called Fashion Roll Call, which is sponsored in part by makeup brand NP Set Cosmetics, is touring all-girl schools around the country. Their goal is to educate girls in fashion and beauty industry careers by presenting a "lunch-time fashion parade" followed by makeup application tutorials taught by makeup artists who work for NP Set.

If you already love your Burberry trench, scarf, bikini, and handbag, get ready to add makeup to your collection, because WWD is reporting that the company has just announced the colors for its cosmetics line, which is slated to arrive in July 2010. Philippe Benacin, chairman and managing director of Inter Parfums SA, says the collection will be "a complete color line with about 100 references for eyes, lips, and skin" and will be carried at Nordstrom. My question is, though, how will Burberry create makeup that's any better than what a company that specializes in the products does?
