Last week I asked you to suggest your favorite cleansing shampoos, and you definitely found some good ones!

Marcella loves Lush's Big shampoo: "It's by far the best cleansing shampoo for people who use a ton of styling products (like me)!" I agree-this stuff lathers like crazy, smells amazing and leaves hair looking shiny and bouncy.

Then there's Rachelattack, who suggests using good old-fashioned baking soda! She says that adding a bit to a regular shampoo transforms it into a cleansing shampoo. I might have to try this.

Leeluvfashion and Bigestivediscuit both rave about Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo, which takes me back to junior high. Come to think of it, my hair did look good and shiny back then-aside from the (gulp) spiral perm.

Film Noir or Fancy Shampoo?

Do you know your film noir, doll? This cinematic genre often starred alluring actresses such as Veronica Lake, Rita Hayworth, and Ava Gardner. Common features of these types of films include a highly stylized appearance of both the characters and scenery, a crime, and some sort of dramatic, sexual undertone in the backdrop - think The Maltese Falcon and Out of the Past, or in more modern films, Basic Instinct or No Country For Old Men. Along with these artistic flicks come some pretty creative names. Now it's time for you to do a little sleuthing of your own. Is it a film noir or a fancy shampoo?

Charles Worthington Results Balancing Act Dry Shampoo

I've had a bottle of Charles Worthington Results Balancing Act Dry Shampoo (£4.55) in my closet for some time now, but didn't try it out until last week. Boy am I bummed out that I waited so long - this product is nothing short of a savior in a bottle!

I'll start by telling you how awesome it smells. The scent is a clean, crisp, fresh and not overly flowery to mask your dirty hair smell (yes, I know that's gross, but it's true). Instead it actually seems like it's dry cleaning your hair and taking the odor away entirely. Also, it has a light and consistent mist that doesn't concentrate in just one area. I believe this is the reason why, (unlike some other dry shampoos) it won't leave your hair wet when you first spray it on, rather it simply and instantly absorbs any grease.

Lastly, what makes it stand out is that if you hair is fine (like mine) after going a day or two without washing, it tends to get limp. This helps give it texture and even a little bit of volume.

I won't tell you that this is some kind of miracle product, because it's not. It's just a really good dry shampoo that I'm excited to recommend. The effects won't last for 48 or even for 24 hours. In fact, depending on how oily your hair is, I'd give it about five to six hours max, which is enough to get you through an afternoon at work, or an event in the evening. After that ladies, I'm afraid you're going to have to bathe!

Reader Review of the Day: L'Oreal Hair Expertise Ever Pure Smooth Shampoo

It's hard to keep up with all the "green" products on the market right now, so I haven't had the chance to try L'Oreal Hair Expertise Ever Pure Smooth Shampoo ($7). It's supposed to be gentle and sulfate-free, and although those are both good things, that doesn't mean that it's the right one for you. Reader xholdxmexunderx took it for a test-drive and wasn't terribly impressed, saying:

"I got this after dying my hair dark, and it didn't rinse out my color like most other shampoos do. However, I couldn't get pass the smell of it - a weird herbal scent - and it did not do a good job of actually cleaning the product out of my hair."

Gym Bag Essential: Oscar Blandi 'Pronto' Dry Shampoo

Most of the time when I head to the gym during the day, I am rushing around when I get ready so I can come back and blog for you, my fabulous readers. Unfortunately I feel like my shampoo routine is a time killer and sometimes I just don't feel like shampooing because washing it once (and sometimes twice) a day can leave my hair so dry. So, DearSugar recently introduced me to 'Dry Shampoo' and I am loving it.

Basically dry shampoo solves the dilemma of dirty hair without a traditional cleansing process. With this dry shampoo you are able to refresh your hair and scalp without water. Doing Drugstore: Johnson's Baby Shampoo

The last time I used Johnson's Baby Shampoo, I was illiterate and, most likely, incontinent as well. (Thank goodness things have changed in the decades since.) When I recently visited my parents, I noticed that they had a bottle of it in the shower, so I figured I'd give it a whirl.

There's something comforting about the bottle, labeling and smell. These things don't necessarily revert me to childhood, but there's something simple and sweet about it nonetheless. But does the no-tears shampoo work well for grownups? To find out, read more.

Although it doesn't lather much, it cleaned my greasy hair well, Now that it's dry, I've got this wispy Shiloh Jolie-Pitt thing goin' on. (Sadly, though, I think Shiloh beats me in the cutiepie department.) The only problem is that it strips my hair of too many of its oils, giving me more flyaways than usual and drying out my hair. A conditioner would help with this, but my grown-up shampoos don't do this. Sadly, Johnson's Baby Shampoo isn't something I'd regularly use.

Finally, did you know that some people use this shampoo as a makeup remover? Yep. I haven't tried doing this yet, but I can see it being a great and inexpensive choice for cleaning makeup brushes. For hair, though, it's a wash (yuk, yuk).

In Which Bella Falls Hard For a $5.99 Shampoo

When you're on crutches, even the smallest tasks can be daunting. (You just try to carry a glass of water while carrying yourself. Can't be done.) In the name of simplicity, I've minimized my grooming routine, which means that I haven't been blow-drying my hair. Normally, letting it air-dry makes it flatter than Flat Stanley under a steamroller. And yet, I've been getting compliments left and right on my hair. What gives?

Then I realized that it had been about a month since I'd switched my shampoo/conditioner combo. Since then, I've been using John Frieda Luxurious Volume shampoo and conditioner ($5.99 each). They promise to make hair look fuller, and, well, they deliver. Even without using a hair dryer, my hair is bouncy and shiny, and the products smell good, too. I know I might seem like some crazy shampoo proselytizer, but it is always pleasing to stumble upon a product that does what it says it'll do. And it's even better when it's reasonably priced. So while my body may have limited mobility, at least my hair has body. (It's the little things that make my day.)
