Seen a lot of sliver foxes running around lately? That's because the population of folks in the US over 100 has nearly doubled since 2000. If the candle-blowing continues like this, within 40 years, it could exceed one million.

I promise we're not going wall-to-wall Pennsylvania today like some (cough, cable news, cough) but we were just talking about this the other day with John Edwards! The Internet works in mysterious ways. You Obama supporters out there might want to think long and hard about electing his royal handsomeness.

Recently, I made homemade cherry bounce as one of my edible gifts this year. The liqueur is lovely as an after-dinner cordial, but I also couldn't wait to experiment with other uses for it. PartySugar discovered that cherry bounce tastes great simply mixed with some tonic water or seltzer; it takes on a refreshing, spiked cherry cola quality.

Until I read Imbibe by David Wondrich, a wonderfully nerdy book about the history of boozin', I thought an old-fashioned was bourbon served over ice, sugar, bitters, and a muddle of oranges and maraschino cherries. But turns out, that fruit-laden recipe is pretty much the antithesis of what an old-fashioned cocktail was intended to be. Last week I was fortunate enough to attend the Zinfandel Advocates and Producers wine tasting. One of the best wines I tasted was this bottle of old vine Zin. An old vine Zinfandel comes from grapes grown on vines that were planted in California many years ago.

I guess Jack Bauer isn't retiring any time soon: 24 is about to be made into a full-length feature film starring Kiefer Sutherland. The show's two-hour TV movie in 2008, "Redemption," was both successful and satisfying — and a good indication that the big screen version of 24 could be awesome as well.
The Simpsons and The X-Files were made into films while their TV counterparts were still on the air, but it's not known if the production on the 24 movie will start before or after the series ends.
