Dear Poll: Would you Online Date?

It seems to be harder and harder these days to meet a quality man, someone who you trust, respect, have fun with, etc...but more importantly, someone who feels the same way about you. According to a previous poll, 59% of you said you meet the men you date through friends. Of course that is a wonderful, safe way to prescreen and get to know someone, it even makes it easier to go on group dates, but sometimes it isn't that easy, in which case, thank goodness for online dating!

Online dating used to have a negative stigma attached to it, but it seems like people are warming up to the idea more and more. So what I want to know is, would you feel comfortable meeting a potential mate online?

Will You Watch the Return of Gavin & Stacey Tonight?

What's occuring? The third (and final) series of Gavin & Stacey, that's what! It all kicks off tonight on BBC 1 at 9pm, where we pick up with Gavin - who's started a new job in Cardiff, Smithy - who's trying to cope without him, and the gang, as they all prepare for baby Neil's christening. It looks set to be as funny and heartwarming as ever, and we'll even get a song from Uncle Bryn (Rob Brydon). Ruth Jones and James Corden were at Radio 1 this morning promoting the show - I can't wait to see how their characters Nessa and Smithy are getting on this series now that they're parents! As you can tell, I'm excited about tuning in tonight, but will you watch? Let me know!

How Do You Prefer to Holiday Shop?

While perusing the news, I noticed two seemingly conflicting stories right beside each other on the same site. The headlines: "Online Retail Thriving This Holiday Season" and "A Site to Help People Shop Online Attracts Investors."

The two articles aren't actually contradictory, the first is a welcome optimistic look at the future of e-commerce with Forrester Research reporting that most online retailers turned a profit in 2008 as business continues to grow. The second article profiles a new site called Milo, which allows you to enter your location and the name of a product you're looking for, and it delivers a list of nearby retail stores where you can find the item. Milo's business model operates on the "instant gratification" theory - you don't want to wait for an item you order, you want to find it right away.

I tend to prefer a mix of online and retail store shopping, depending on the item and what's convenient. What about you?

Are You Surprised Johnny Is the Sexiest Man Alive?

Johnny Depp was surrounded by fans last night as he left the Tim Burton event at the MoMA in NYC. He headed off to toast Tim further with friends at a bar, but it's Johnny who's celebrating today due to his Sexiest Man Alive win. Johnny is one of Hollywood's classic hotties, but there are lots of other manjoyable men running around who also might deserve the title. We certainly couldn't have predicted that Johnny would take top honors, so tell us - are you surprised that he's 2009's Sexiest Man Alive?

Do You Buy Wine Online?

Dorothy J. Gaiter and John Brecher, wine columnists and founders of Open That Bottle Night, recently assessed the world of online wine, only to find it came up short.

"Some really fine stores out there haven't spruced up their sites since dirt was invented," they lamented. They did, however, manage to find a handful of wine sites that do online wine sales right.

I've purchased hard-to-locate bottles of wine online for a couple of special occasions, and never had a problem. Still, if I ordered wine online all the time, I'd be screwed on a couple of last-minute hostess gifts, and stuck with quite a hefty shipping bill. How about you?

Robert and Kristen Holding Hands in Paris – Confirmation of Romance or Reading Too Much Into It?

Earlier this evening, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were spotted leaving Paris looking especially close - even holding hands! We were so excited to post the whole gallery of photos, but some of the commenters are doubtful that this is a confirmation that the two are a couple. The next stop for the New Moon stars is London where they were seen touching down before their promotional appearance. So what do you think of these photos of Robert and Kristen linked up - is it proof of romance or are people reading too much into it?

Would You Take a Stanford Class on iTunes?

Maybe you're wondering if it's even possible to take a class on iTunes. It is now - and not just from Stanford, but from Yale, Wharton, Berkeley, and more. In a relatively new move, prestigious colleges and universities are making lectures, classes, and even written materials available online.

The experience isn't exactly like taking an actual course. For one, you won't be awarded any credits, but considering it's all online and free, it seems a fair trade. You may not have access to everything from the class, but that's not really the point - as Money Magazine's Pat Regnier might tell you. He downloaded Berkeley's American economic history course on iTunes last year and a Yale professor's lecture series on the Civil War.

He wasn't seeking a secondary degree, but the lectures satisfied the urge to sharpen his intellect, without shelling out cash for grad school or a costly MBA. Just check out iTunes, Academic Earth, or OER Commons to find out what's available. So, what do you think? Would you take the time to give your intellect a boost with a little free online education?

Do You Think Taylor Lautner Will Make a Cameo on Taylor Swift's SNL?

While Taylor Lautner is promoting New Moon internationally, his new girlfriend Taylor Swift is gearing up for her very first shot at hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend. This season almost every host - Drew Barrymore, Ryan Reynolds, Megan Fox - has brought on their significant other for a cameo in a sketch or Digital Short, so we're wondering whether we'll see Taylor Lautner pop up on Swift's show.

There are lots of rumors as to why none of the Twilight cast is scheduled to host to promote their movie and the timing works out well. Taylor L's schedule doesn't have him being in NYC this week and Swift talked about being nervous about the pitch meeting, but they could have filmed something already like a DS with Andy Samberg. So what do you think - is there a chance that Taylor Lautner will make a cameo on Taylor Swift's SNL this weekend?

Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner are quickly becoming the hottest teen couple in Hollywood. The same-named duo were spotted out earlier this week and yet again last night shopping and grabbing dinner in LA. 17-year-old Lautner has snagged himself an older woman with 19-year-old Swift and the two seem inseparable at least for the moment. They met filming Valentine's Day where they share an on-screen kiss. The timing couldn't be more perfect with his New Moon less than a month away so tell us, what do you think about Taylors Swift and Lautner coupling up - totally sweet or totally planned?
