Trend Alert: Drop Front Jacket

Blazers are a wardrobe staple and remain a must have season upon season. The only difference is that they get a slight update each time and this season it's been given an edgy feel with draped detailing.

There are a variety of styles for a range of budgets from a drop front style at Topshop (£60), to a softer charcoal design at Opening Ceremony (£445). Roberto Cavalli has a luxury wool version (£1,310) in his Autumn collection too. My favourite is Lover's drape lapel blazer (£375). What do you think of this twist on the classic?

Trend Alert: Moody Knits

I know you've heard about moody florals, but what about moody knits? These dark pieces are a far cry from the ones your auntie knits for you every holiday. Moody sweaters have an ominous tinge to them via slashes, open weaving, and gloomy patterns. Check out Kate Moss in London working this look in a furry black, gray, and red striped sweater from her collection for Topshop. So rad.

Swoon, school boy crush. Sosupersam nailed the stripes/blazer/khaki short combo. The scrunched sleeves and high-waisted and belted shorts are excellent styling stories. We can't see her shoes, but it's all good, this is perfection.

For a quirky cute touch, the Post Grad star dressed her feet with a pair of bright orange and light gray patent leather sandals by Loeffler Randall. Of course, I love it - she stepped out of the sexy mini dress box - do you?

Opening Ceremony's current sale section has got to be the largest I've seen. Not the cheapest, but the biggest. Besides its namesake brand, it also houses merchandise from Rachel Comey, Vena Cava, Acne, Alexander Wang, and more. There are plenty of avant-garde pieces, but I thought this Zechia Lacey Tee ($193, originally $275) - lollipop not included - is one of the most mass appealing. I'm a lover of fashion, but did you know I also like laughing? In fact, I participated in a comedy open mic in NYC a couple years back. Needless to say, I bombed. Last weekend, I left it to the professionals and attended a comedy show with a couple of friends. I asked you to put together a cunning outfit for me.

I started you off with these Opening Ceremony Lace-Up Flats ($222, originally $370) because I was inspired by Sienna Miller's cool 'fit. So many good looks, let's see who made the cut!

Look #1, created by catita85, is simple yet complex. The gray blouse goes exceptionally well with the sandals.

Fab Blab: Chloë Sevigny

Chloë Sevigny is one of my favourite fashion icons. She makes quirky style look easy, and she always has a unique take on trends. Chloë also designs for Opening Ceremony which is already popular in the States and will soon be available here. Her latest collection will hit Selfridges and Dover Street Market in August.

This weekend Sunday Times Style caught up with her to ask her about getting older, young celebrities and being involved in ad campaigns. Her style is effortless, which not many celebrities seem to achieve any more and it amazes me how she doesn't look like she's aged one bit over the years! She commented, "I’d never want to become famous now. I feel like there’s a real cockiness with young people today. Maybe it’s protective, a shell. But the new celeb daughters and sons, the pop stars, are wise beyond their years."

Despite looking young, she confesses to being aware of her age. "I saw these lace Doc Martens, and I was like, I can’t wear those, I’m 34! Things like that are completely inappropriate. I’ll have to wait until I’m 75, then start wearing them again..." However, Chloë does like to stay in tune with the fashion industry, "It’s fun to be involved in fashion campaigns, to stay relevant to a certain extent, but I’ve never consciously pursued it, and I’m not going to start now."
