Orange is making a big comeback for spring, but we are already seeing signs of it from fashion-forward Bella Donnas.

Orange gives off a more energetic vibe (notice it's the theme color for FitSugar) than red lipstick and is much softer than deep purple shades. However, it is still sexy and equally as daring and dangerous.

This lip looks best if kept matte with a strong brow, dark eye lashes and a nude face. Check out Kate Moss in London earlier this week sporting a juicy orange lip.

Trend Alert: Going Orange

There's no getting away from the fact that orange is this season's hottest makeup shade. It's also the quickest, and quirkiest, way to inject some colour into your Summer beauty routine.

The orange trend all started with MAC's now cult lipstick, in Morange, (£11), Summer's most covetable shade. MAC's head of artistry told Grazia, that "Orange is the perfect antidote to the vampiness of last season, but still has enough to pack a punch."

I spoke with make-up artist Becca Harrison, who creates beautifully wearable versions of catwalk beauty trends, for Vogue, The Guardian, The Independent and Elle, amongst others.

She admits that, "The very thought of orange makeup can send even the most glamorous girl running in the opposite direction" but advises that with the right products "it can be a truly versatile colour with a variety of tones, to suit all shades of skin."

It's best to just wear one orange product, and team it with neutral beiges and tawny brown shades, or pale gold at the most.

MAC does a gorgeous cream blush called Virgin Isle, (£12), which I find suits nearly all skin tones. It appears quite bright in the pot but can be used very lightly with your fingers, on the apples of the cheeks. This will create a healthy glow. Or try it layered over foundation, or powder, to achieve a brighter, more dramatic pop of colour.
Orange can also work really well as an eyeshadow - particularly with blue and brown eyes. Try a bright swipe of fluorescent eyeliner, such Barry M Kohl Pencil in Neon Orange, (£2.95). This, teamed with black mascara-ed lashes, creates a great punky, evening look.

Alternatively, subtly blend orange with softer browns and bronzes for a more gentle effect for the daytime. Once again, MAC have some wonderful shades including Orange, (£10), as well as some hot fluorescents, neutral buffs and peachy tones, (£14), in their Neo Sci Fi range.
Lip-wise - orange can look really stunning. From creamy corals to punchy brights, there is a shade for every skin tone and colouring. I like Lancome Coral Cruise, (£17). It's a lovely, soft tone perfect for redheads and blondes with fair complexions. While their Orange Drop looks gorgeous on olive and darker skin tones.
For a youthful pop of colour, go for Lancome's Juicy Tube, in Mangue, (£13.50). It's a pretty, light orange gloss which suits a fairer complexion. For the truly adventurous, MAC have a new lipstick called Electro, (£11). It's not for the faint hearted – but creates a powerful and sexy impact, that is impossible to ignore.

Last night in London, Kimberley Walsh attended The 2009 Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards wearing a beautiful crystal and white peep-hole dress and her hair styled elegantly in loose waves. However, what I liked most was her contrasting smoky eyes and nude lipstick. A few days ago, we saw her at a BBC event in bright tomato-orange red lipstick, and last month, she was spotted at a fashion event in a crushed creamy cranberry lip colour. Out of these three lipstick shades, which one do you like best on Kimberley?

Love it or hate it, Leighton Meester's right on trend wearing a semi-matte, deep-hued lipstick. As this Gossip Girl demonstrates, in order to pull off a so-bold-it-could-stop-traffic kind of color, it's best to keep the rest of your makeup toned down as to not overwhelm the look.

So, is a sassy red-orange lipstick something you might want to duplicate for Fall 2008 and beyond? If so, follow these tips on how to keep such a saucy color saucy, along with some department and drugstore finds to boot:

Apply lip liner in a shade similar to your lipstick. Outline, following the natural shape of your lips, and then fill in completely. By using liner as a base, your color will wear longer and bolder. It helps prevent color from bleeding, too.
Using a lip brush, apply lipstick. Start in the center, working out as you go. Fix any harsh lines or mistakes with a Q-tip.
Splurgey choice: Back at Fashion Rocks in September, Leighton told me she loves Yves Saint Laurent lipstick. Try Rouge Volupté Lipstick in Extreme Coral or Red Muse ($34).
Drugstore finds: Go with bright red-orange shades such as L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick Lipstick in Volcanic ($8.95) or Revlon Moon Drops Creme Lipstick in Hot Coral ($8.99).
