Feb 15 2007 - 12:00pm That peanut butter sandwich may be giving you more than just a hefty dose of protein and calories...
It is being reported that you should throw away certain jars of Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter because these spreads were linked to a salmonella outbreak that has sickened almost 300 people around the country.
Lids of jars produced by ConAgra Foods with a product code beginning "2111" can be returned to the company for a refund.

OMG! I have totally been eating this peanut butter for the last couple of weeks :-x
1A lady at my work has one with that code. Thankfully for me and my fam, I'm a **choosy mom**.
Poor ConAgra..not doing so hot these days! Our MN plant closing down (the popcorn guys) now the peanut butter...eww.
2It sounds like Peter Pan's been eating too much fish..
3Maybe Peter Pan has a cute little pet turtle...
4We had one of those jars, just threw it out, and 3 people in our house had what we thought were really bad stomach bugs, now we know where it came from!
5I've already written a letter to send in with my 3 lids...we'll see how long it takes to get a "full refund."
6I agree, Butrfly4404 - we have a plant in my town too (my grandmother worked there for 40 years) and I am afraid of what this will do to the company. We are a small, factory town, and unfortunately, when ConAgra is hurt, our whole town is hurt.

8sorry - double post!!
9I definitely made cookies using a 2111 jar of peanut butter that all of my friends ate. Luckily, no one got sick!
