Every mom has an ace in her pocket. When all else fails, we all have a secret weapon we turn to for curing an uncooperative tot. For my daughter it was Elmo; anything and everything red and furry would usually stop her mid-tantrum and return a sweet smile to her face.

The digital age of emailing, cell phones, and social networking has made it possible for many families to interact without coming face-to-face with one another.

Parenting is a dirty job, but someone has to do it. When it comes to diapering, many parents use the rule, "He who smelt it, changes it," which usually has both sides equally elbow deep in soiled nappies. However, some sneaky (and tired) mamas and papas looking to score a break from diaper duty have admitted to leaving a stinky one for their counterpart to find and change.

While experts may agree that breastfeeding is one of the best things mothers can do for their babies, many moms admit it also happens to be quite challenging. Just as you and your baby get into the swing of things, he or she is probably noticing that there's more to life than just mommy. Though it may be a good sign of development, it can make nursing a chore.

Like many children, my mother enrolled me in piano lessons but when I openly admitted to disliking it, she let me quit. Same went for the clarinet and skiing, both of which I did for about one week. Now that I'm older I desperately wish I could play an instrument or stand on skis, but I do understand why my mom didn't push either on me.

Most children are wasteful little devils when it comes to meal and snack times. Parents throw out countless amounts of Cheerios, hot dog bits, leftover yogurt, and half sipped juice boxes. Tots are carefree so it's up to parents to incorporate food saving remedies into our family routines.

One might assume that a child would be less frightened watching something scary if he were in the company of his parents. Not so says a group of Finnish researchers. According to a new study published in the journal Child: Care, Health and Development, children are actually more afraid of the events on the screen when their folks are in their presence.
