As we all know, the beginning of a blossoming relationship is exhilarating and the courting period is what makes every day one to look forward to. But once couples get comfortable with each other, that initial fire dwindles and your relationship turns a new leaf. Now I'm not saying that taking that next step in the romance department is a bad thing, but many people do miss what the beginning entails: you know the passionate kisses, the butterflies in your stomach and the over the top dates! So ladies, if you're currently in that comfortable place in your relationship, what do you miss about just dating?

Grey's Anatomy Rundown, "Holidaze"

As evidenced in my holiday TV sneak peek, this week's episode of Grey's Anatomy puts the doctors on a fast track that starts on Thanksgiving eve and runs through New Year's Eve. As we all know by now, the Seattle Grace surgeons aren't always big on merriment, but the holidays are always the perfect time to bring out the truth in feelings and relationships.

Meredith bonds with the Chief while Mark learns that he has a teenage daughter. Bailey has a confrontation with her father and Teddy and Owen's sexual tension comes to a head. To read all about it, just read more.

As the episode opens, the Chief is trying to justify his drinking to Meredith - explaining that his alcoholism was "misdiagnosed" and that he was actually suffering from situational depression. (Um, right.) It's unclear whether Mere takes his word for it because she believes him or feels like she has to, but she accepts his mentorship. Later she bites off Thatcher's head when he suggests that the Chief shouldn't be drinking, and by NYE realizes that he does have a problem, but continues to keep it a secret. There is one good thing that comes from it: Derek and the Chief finally make amends after duking it out all season.
Bailey does her best to avoid acknowledging the holidays because she's afraid to tell her parents about her divorce. Instead, she gladly dives into work - until her father makes a surprise visit on Christmas Eve. After watching Miranda perform surgery, he delivers a way harsh speech about being ashamed of her decision to "break" her family and put work first. At Christmas dinner (with the whole Seattle Grace crew, no less), Miranda finally puts her foot down and tells her dad that she's not willing to settle for a bad relationship. Did anyone else want to slow clap, at this point? Because I did.
Mark gets a blast from the past when a buxom blonde appears at the hospital claiming to be his daughter. (I kind of love that her name is Sloan). Mark isn't exactly thrilled with feeling old, joking that "death has come to call." Lexie is also troubled by the news at first, and I couldn't blame her for slicing her finger when Mark drops the bomb that Sloan is moving in. Two months later, he hasn't made any progress, and it's clear that his daughter isn't exactly a cup of tea. Just when Mark finally gets the nerve to kick her out, Sloan reveals that she's pregnant with a baby of her own. Instead of contemplating his potential grandpa status (talk about feeling old), Mark's paternal instincts kick into gear with impeccable timing and he comforts her. Sidenote: I find it interesting that Mark handles the situation exactly how Quinn wished her parents had on Glee this week - stroking her hair, assuring her that everything would be okay.
Teddy is already coming between Cristina and Owen's relationship, even if just with pages. Still loving her new cardio god, Cristina is happy to be Teddy's bitch (as Alex calls her) and work as a team - until she catches Owen giving Teddy meaningful glances. Owen confronts Teddy and reveals that he had feelings with her when they were overseas together, and in turn Teddy confesses that she's always been in love with him. They are literally this close to kissing, but Owen says he loves Cristina and runs to her instead. Despite their passionate makeout sesh at the end of the episode, I still have an ominous feeling about Cristina's kiss with Avery (who is still giving her flack about her relationship with Owen).

Mad Men, "The Grown Ups": This Week's 5 Maddest Moments

Did you hear it? That was the sound of the Mad Men implosion, as the death of JFK on November 22, 1963, rocked the country and the lives of the show's characters. This season has been building up to the events of this episode, which felt more intense, more important, than next week's finale can possibly be. If there's an episode that has defined the third season so thoroughly, it's this one, "The Grown Ups."

Death of a President: The timeline of the show has made it clear that John F. Kennedy's assassination is coming, but like those who experienced it, there was no way to prepare for it emotionally. So where is everyone when JFK is shot? Peggy is having a "nooner" with Duck, Betty is at home, Pete and Harry are talking work, and Roger's daughter Margaret is having a fitting on the eve of her wedding.
One wedding and a funeral: The show must go on, Roger decides, and Margaret's wedding still happens on Saturday night, with far fewer guests in attendance. I understand why they didn't cancel it, but as Joan remarks, "Poor thing." Margaret overcomes her marriage jitters and fit over Jane's extravagant gift and presence in her life, only to agree to be married the day after the President's shooting. That's pretty rough.
Downgrade: Pete is demoted so thoroughly at Sterling Cooper that he leaves work and tells Trudie he's been fired at first. Like Betty, the fact that he's already going through something jarring when JFK is shot only escalates his personal situation, and he stays at home with Trudie instead of going to Margaret's wedding. Shaken as well, Trudie tells Pete to start gathering his clients in preparation to leave the company. Pete seems shattered, and again, I enjoyed Vincent Kartheiser's nuanced performance of one of the show's most complicated characters.
Where's the love: A wedding and a violent event prompt everyone to re-evaluate their romantic relationships; particularly Don and Betty (their kiss at the wedding proves to be only passionate from one side) and Joan and Roger. That Roger calls Joan, just happy that she's home, says so much about his feelings for her.
The Proposal: "What is going on?" Betty asks both Don and Henry, distraught about the country's events, but that's exactly how I felt when Henry tells her in her car that he'll marry her if she leaves Don. Last week, when she got advice against divorcing him, I thought there was no way they'd split up, but now that Betty has this viable option, I'm actually scared they may divorce. As screwed up as their marriage is, their being together is one of the show's fixtures. Their separation would be like Sterling Cooper going out of business. But Betty sees things as having "no point" now, and she tells Don that she no longer loves him. I don't know what to think! Is it a coincidence that she was wearing a pink twinset like Jackie the day JFK is shot? Hadn't she just "lost" her husband in last week's episode when she discovers that Don is really Dick Whitman? In any case, it's completely disconcerting to see Don, sitting in his bedroom at the end, broken by Betty's dramatic disclosure of her lack of feelings for him.

Everyone keeps saying variations on how everything will be fine, it will all be OK, but we know from experience with this show that nothing is going to be fine. Whatever is to come, I'm so impressed by this episode; in the future, this will be the episode that you remember when you think of this season.

Jennifer Lopez Gets Wet Like the Best of 'Em

Jennifer Lopez joined the ranks of soaked celebrities - think you can identify these wet stars? - filming The Back-Up Plan in NYC on Tuesday before chowing down on set yesterday. Earlier on Tuesday she arrived holding hands with Marc Anthony, who left her to film some kissing scenes at night with her costar Alex O'Loughlin. This time she didn't have any of her doll babies to cuddle up to, but her big screen love interest and real life passion make an interesting week for Jennifer.

Penelope and Javier Kiss and Cuddle on Barcelona

Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz shared a passionate kiss in Barcelona earlier today. The couple usually stays away from public displays of affection, but this time they held hands, embraced, and cuddled close for their lunch date and stroll. A few months ago there were rumors that Penelope is expecting, and the flowy shirt might reignite interest in the story. The actress also recently spoke about her desire to have children, more so than marriage. She said, "I want to have babies one day but not right now. When I do it I want to do it really well. I want it to be my best project in life. I don’t know if I believe in marriage. I believe in family, love and children." It's rare to see these two blissfully in love, and we can't help but also point out - she is wearing something sparkly on that certain left hand ring finger. Just saying.

Dear Poll: Would You Dump a Guy Over a Bad Kiss?

I believe that you can tell a lot about a person by the way they kiss. Sharing that passionate connection without verbal communication is a great way to determine if the chemistry is there, but as we all know, sometimes a first kiss can be less than impressive. Unfortunately, this is bad news for all the men out there, because according to Dr. Laura Burman, 66 percent of women said they'd actually dump a guy after a bad first kiss! I think that's a bit rash, but I'm curious to know if bad kissing in general is a deal-breaker to you, so tell me ladies . . .

On a first date, do you recommend lip gloss or lipstick - or neither?

Makeup choices can be very much the same, as long the woman is comfortable with it. No matter the sexual preference.

In your work and research, what discoveries regarding beauty/makeup/hair have surprised you with regard to relationships?
With regard to relationships, men love long hair, but not the traditional perfectly coiffed hair so many try to have. Men actually love the tousled, rolled-out-of-bed look, and it’s no wonder that’s the way you look after a long sexy night. Men can’t identify the components of makeup that create the lips that they want to kiss, bite, and touch, they just are drawn to them. The more naturally glamorous a woman can look, the more sensual she becomes to the male eye.

Do you find their observations line up with your experience? (For what it's worth, I definitely get more looks when I wear red lipstick.)
