Penelope Prefers to Chat About Embraces Not Engagements
Penelope Cruz was busy in NYC yesterday, first making a stop by The Late Show to chat with David Letterman. She was out to discuss Broken Embraces before it opens in limited theaters this Friday, but Dave was a little more concerned with asking about her rumored engagement to Javier Bardem. She stood her ground and didn't reveal anything about her personal life — check out the video of her interview after the jump.

The many stars of Nine reunited in NYC today as they gear up to launch a press blitz before their film hits theaters on Dec. 18. Penelope Cruz and Marion Cotillard were spotted heading out of their hotel solo, just a few days after posing together at the weekend premiere of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee.

The leading ladies of The Private Lives of Pippa Lee hit the red carpet in NYC on Saturday evening. Blake Lively didn't address rumors she's going into business with Victoria Beckham as she smiled for the cameras, while her boyfriend Penn Badgley mingled with fellow Gossip Girl actor Chace Crawford behind the scenes. Robin Wright Penn, meanwhile, showed off her new dark hairdo as she posed alongside Julianne Moore and Keanu Reeves.
Penelope Leaves Javier in Bali to Embrace Pedro in Rome
Penelope Cruz joined Pedro Almodovar in Rome on Saturday for a Broken Embraces photo call at the city's famous Trevi Fountain. She's back on the promotional trail after a brief detour to Bali, where she met up with Javier Bardem at the beach during one of his breaks from filming Eat, Pray, Love. Penelope has been the subject of many rumors about her personal life recently, but she's going to be all business for the next few months with her travels on behalf of her film with Pedro and the upcoming Nine and she was already at LAX again yesterday.
Penelope and Javier Strip Down and Hit the Beach in Bali
Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem hit the beach together earlier this week in Bali, where he's been filming Eat, Pray, Love with Julia Roberts. Javier showed off his shirtless chest while filming with Julia last weekend, but his real life love Penelope gets to enjoy those abs as well. The duo haven't had anything to say about the rumors that they are engaged, but no matter the relationship status they look happy as ever taking advantage of his exotic movie location.

Movie Preview: Broken Embraces
Broken Embraces looks like classic Pedro Almodovar: a sweeping story with a heavy dose of film noir, beautiful to look at, and a dazzling Penelope Cruz. There's a reason the director and his muse always work together — he brings out her strongest performances; she serves as a captivating leading lady. (She even got an Academy Award nomination for his film Volver.)
If the trailer for Broken Embraces is any indication, Cruz may just have critics whispering Oscar again.
Penelope Cruz Embraces a SATC2 Cameo!
Penelope Cruz headed out to her car yesterday afternoon in NYC. She was fresh off a whirlwind weekend of promoting Broken Embraces, including two parties and multiple press events. Even though Penelope rarely talks about Javier, her BFF Pedro Almodovar had his fair share to say — he opened up at their premiere on Sunday by saying that Penelope has "achieved a very handsome, good boyfriend, two Oscar nominations, one Oscar, and the respect and admiration of her profession."
