How To: Rachel's Relaxed Makeup from "The OC"

All week, FabSugar is paying tribute to the fashion of "The OC," so I thought I'd join the party with a few posts about the notable hair and beauty looks featured on the indulgent SoCal teen drama.

On Monday, I told you how to get Mischa Barton hair, and today, we'll be learning how to recreate Rachel Bilson's relaxed makeup look. Face: Badass Bilson is all about a clean-looking face. To look youthful and not overly made up, all you'll need is a bit of concealer and a tinted moisturizer with SPF.
Cheeks: To re-create her sun kissed look, I would start with a basic bronzer and then add a peachy cream blush to the apples of your cheeks.
Eyes: If you look closely, you'll notice that there are two different shadows on Bilson's eyes: a highlighter and a mocha brown color. Try Stila Eye Shadow Pan in Puck, which can be worn lightly during the day and layered for evening for a more dramatic effect.
Next, line your upper lashes only with a deep brown eye pencil, like Laura Mercier Eye Pencil in Special Brown. Lastly, use one coat of black lengthening mascara for definition.
Brows: See how Bilson's brows are the stand-out feature in the natural look? It's imperative to get a brow shaping a few times a year to keep your face properly framed. If you have light brows, use Anastasia Brow Powder Duo on Ash Blonde or Medium Ash to fill them in. Just go easy: The goal of this look is to make it look effortless.
Lips: Her lips look naturally pink, light, and sheer. As you know I am a huge fan of Lipstick Queen's Oxymoron Lip Gloss, and this matte formula is a perfect choice for this look.

Who Looks the Prettiest Plain-Faced at the P.S. Arts Party?

Looks like Kerry Washington, Rachel Bilson and Amanda Peet decided to keep things simple Thursday night at the P.S. Arts Party event. I think they are all gorgeous without having to wear a ton of makeup. (And as a side note, I'm digging Amanda's schoolgirl grosgrain hair ribbon-so cute!) Out of these three ladies, who do you think looks the best with a plain, polished face?

Rachel Bilson was working a sultry, brunette version of the sun-kissed Californian girl look, at the Teen Choice Awards, last night.

She's gone for a dark chocolate colour, smoky eye, worn with rose pink lipstick and just a touch of blush – which really suits her complexion.

Her naturally dark brown hair, has bronze highlights, and she's wearing it in a relaxed, wavy style, which gives her look a more laid back feel.

Brian Reyes Talks Marble, Hints Handbags, and Designs During Hard Times

Brian Reyes's clothes are undeniably pretty, but, as I discovered backstage at his Fall show, it's all in the details. I was able to closely examine the clothes, some smart separates, some intricately beaded dresses. But a wavy seam, slight cut-out, or asymmetrical contour provided more than meets the eye. This was a backstage that was pretty under control; the designer stopped to talk to me for a few minutes while hair and makeup was wrapping up. He was "giddy" minutes before showtime. Aside from the unraveling of the models and their stiletto Manolo Blahniks, the show proved a success. For the finale, the shoes were thrown into a heap on the ground and models enthusiastically walked on. Reyes's most famous fan, Rachel Bilson, seemed to think so too. What inspired you this season?

"We wanted her to be sharp, tailored, glamorous, and sexy - very important. She’s a young girl, and we dress a lot of young girls, but we love that she’s growing with us so we want her to be a young lady. A young, elegant lady. But still with androgyny, still with the elements we love. The raw element, but maybe raw in the sharp cut of the line."

Tell me about your lingerie line?

"We incorporate it into our ready-to-wear. We have custom prints that really work well with this collection and we are injecting basic lingerie pieces in those prints. We have this tailored girl and she still needs to be feminine; it’s important to keep that alive in the collection."

This is an interesting printed dress.

"Everything we have in this collection is custom to this girl, the shoes, the makeup, the hair. All the prints were custom developed and inspired by marble quarries. And marble also from around the world. It can be an interpretation of whoever's wearing it, it could be something that represents electricity, or represents an oxidized statue that’s beautiful. It’s really up to the wearer's interpretation."

Who do you see wearing your clothes?

"She’s worldly and every age. We dress young women in their twenties and thirties, and fifties and sixties; I love that we get to dress every woman. I think that’s so unique and special about our collection."

What other news can we expect from you this year?

"We collaborated with Roxanne Assoulin from Lee Angel, we’re selling the jewelry from this collection. The lingerie is very important. The bags are ours, we’re not launching a bag collection but we wanted something that was very special, it could be something to explore in the future."

How are you doing things differently given the current economic climate?

"We’re just being more cautious and intelligent. I think it forces you to be competitive and be competitive with yourself. It forces you to be more creative and that is exciting."

Pretty Girls Are Splashes of Color on Teen Choice Blue Carpet

Bright, bold and sassy was the theme of the night for the ladies on the Teen Choice Awards blue carpet, but unlike those casual (though cute) boys they got a little dressy for the occasion. The girls stayed away from the dramatic hair and makeup - check out Bella's love it or hate it polls here - though kept things exciting with their dresses of choice. There was a pretty even split between the short and flirty from the likes of Rachel Bilson, Blake Lively and Scarlett Johansson and the long and flowy from Lauren Conrad and Fergie.
