Before and After: A Real Housewife's Dining Room

Jill Zarin of The Real Housewives of New York City redecorated her family's Upper East Side apartment with the help of interior designer Brad Boles of, not coincidentally, Zarin Fabrics, her family business. The makeover was featured in Traditional Home. I'm not going to lie: as dreary, new money (sorry), and dated as the apartment was before, I'm still not keen on all of the updates. But I did see a major improvement in the dining room, which previously had elaborately swagged draperies, heavy mahogany woodwork, and a Venetian/Tuscan theme gone wrong. Jill replaced the ostentatious drapery with pleated roman shades, making it instantly more modern and fresh. And, she chose a beautiful sea-foam green color palette, which brightened the room up and made the city views the spotlight. As for the furniture, she went with quiet, understated pieces like white-tufted chairs and a round glass-top table. A few stylish accents like a set of Foo dogs and an art-deco chandelier made it seem a bit more of the moment.

Buzz-Worthy Video: New Jersey Real Housewives on Mercy!

Medical drama Mercy isn't on the top of my TiVo lineup, but the show did well enough to score a full season, and it landed squarely on my radar when it was announced that the ladies of The Real Housewives of New Jersey (a highly guilty pleasure of mine) were going to guest on an episode.

So without further ado, here's a clip from tonight's episode, "Not That Kind of Girl." Theresa and Jacqueline play the meddling BFFs to a woman who's confronting Chloe about sleeping with her husband. The Jersey stereotypes that made the reality show a hit are here in full force - there's plenty of name-calling, spray tan references, and a little fun made of the housewives' non-working lives. It's pretty entertaining, even if you've seen neither show.

Can You Handle Any More Real Housewives?

If there's one thing I've learned from Bravo, it's that housewives can be really scary. Just when I thought women could not get any more immature than The Real Housewives of Orange County, The Really Scary Housewives of New York debuted bringing catty to a whole new level. And, now the network has hand picked another city to wreak havoc in - Atlanta. So we've gone from oranges to apples to peaches in hand, are you going to bite?

Bethenny on The Real Housewives of NYC Gets Googled

In this week's episode of The Real Housewives of New York City - one of my all time favorite reality shows - Bethenny paid a visit to her favorite hairstylist, Francky L'Official, and was shocked to find out that he Googled her! Thankfully Bethenny, along with the rest of her Real Housewives costars are fairly tech savvy, so she rushed him to the computer to show her what he saw. I decided to turn the tables on Mr. Sexy Frenchman Francky and came across his pimped out MySpace page. Since most of you said you search online to find out info about your dates, I think it's safe to say all this is "normal" behavior!

Will You Watch The Real Housewives of New Jersey?

The Manzo family is thick as thieves and poised to become reality TV stars when the Real Housewives of New Jersey airs tonight. They're also the first family-based set, plus one outsider for good measure, to star in the Bravo housewives franchise.

The group, whose members know each better than the previous casts, has a tough, Sopranoesque feel to it. In fact, some appear to have actual mob ties.

Based on the previews, the women will offer a different variety of topics for viewers' enjoyment. If you tune in, you'll witness intricate family drama, a 45-year-old woman chasing youth and love (OK, that's not new), and you'll hear a lot about "bubbies," aka breasts.

The show premieres tonight at 11 p.m. EST. Will you tune in?

A Real Housewife of New York City Needs LOL Clarification

Did you happen to see the two-part Real Housewives of New York City reunion series this past week? In case you missed it, let's just say it was filled with more arguing and catfights than the entire season put together. Aside from the usual blog talk (Ramona vowed to never blog again after the ladies questioned her on her "choice of words"), there was some additional geekery - right at the end when reunion host Andy Cohen mentioned LOL. Now if you can remember, Kyra Sedgwick admitted to the improper use of LOL, but I can't decide if Kelly is just trying to be funny or if she really didn't know what he meant! See for yourself below.

Geek Out With The Real Housewives of NYC Tonight!

I've already confessed my love for The Real Housewives of New York City, so for those of you who are avid viewers like myself, Bravo is having a little bit of an online party for the season finale tonight. Not only can you catch the entire show being streamed live online, but you'll also be able to have a Twitter convo with Bethenny half an hour before the show. Talk about one hot virtual party!

I run hot and cold on Bethenny Frankel, The Real Housewives of New York City's resident single gal. Often her one-liners are brilliant and her bits of wisdom spot-on. Like last night's observation about "trick guys" - the smart, nerdy guys who are still bitter about their lack of popularity in high school and are often douches in disguise. Here, Bethenny weighs whether to go on a date with a model.

I definitely think there's some truth to the "trick-guy" thing. But Bethenny lost me when she said that balancing a career and a serious relationship might be impossible (what!?) while having a career and a kid is totally doable. Seems a bit out of touch to me. What do you think? And have you encountered so-called trick guys?

Seems like Ginger the Chihuahua doesn't like anyone but mom . . . and that includes daughter, Ally. Uh oh. While Jill does hire a trainer to work on these issues on an episode of the Real Housewives of New York City, I can't help but recall my friend's grandmother's pooch that would growl and snarl at everyone who came by other than Nonna herself. I'm curious to know, if your pet doesn't like someone, how does he behave? Do tell in your comments below!
