Reese Witherspoon has great hair. It's not too thin and not to thick texture holds a cut well and the flaxen colour shimmers in the sunlight or under the lights of paparazzi flashbulbs. I always think of Reese as having straight hair, even though we've seen it curly plenty of times on the red carpet. However, in these photos, it looks as though it has a bit of a natural wave which not only love but envy. Which hairstyle do you think looks the most flattering on Reese?

How-To: Reese Witherspoon's Hair at the 2009 Oscars

Just one night, yet two hairstyles for Reese Witherspoon! I enjoyed seeing past winners say a few words directly to the nominees this year even though, as Buzz said, it took a little longer than usual. Since she's already picked up an Oscar for her role in Walk the Line, Reese took the stage to help present the Best Director award.Hairstylist Mark Townsend happened to be present for her fitting of the Rodarte dress, and was inspired by the casual way she pulled back her hair to try it on. He created an elegant updo based on her impromptu dressing room twist, then later gave her lovely waves for the afterparties. See tips for both looks when you read more.

Ceremony:

First, apply Matrix Vavoom Height of Glam volumizing foam to damp hair.
Blow dry with a large, round Spornette mixed bristle brush and an FHI Heat Nano Pro 2000 hairdryer.
When dry, give the hair shine and "piecey-ness" with a sculpting product (like Matrix Biolage Molding Soufflé).
Next, gather the hair in a ponytail at the nape of the neck and twist into a textured knot. Use bobby pins to secure the knot, hairpins to shape the knot into an uneven chignon with lots of loose pieces, and then add light hold hairspray to finish.

Afterparty:

After a quick brush out, spray three-inch sections of hair with Vavoom Gold Head Iron-In Control before wrapping around a two-inch curling iron.
Pull the side pieces back with bobby pins, letting a few hairs around the face fall out for softness.
Complete the look with ShapeMaker hairspray.

Fabric Hairbands - Chic or Cheap?

Reese Witherspoon might have that all-American, California girl look down to a tee, but she's not neccessarily the one we watch for new hair trends.

Except, her laidback chic look this weekend was bang on-trend. The paisley headband worked the Global Traveller meets tribal style that was all over the catwalks - as well as being stylishly practical for a Sunday at the beach with her son.

But fabrics headbands can be tricky - it's all too easy to end up pushing the hippie vibe too far, especially when you're on the beach. So tell me what you think, would you wear a fabric hairband or is it strictly a 'washing-my-face' only accessory?

Use side-swept or longer bangs to draw attention to your eyes and fantastic cheekbones.
If you prefer short hair, ask your stylist to keep the top layers long, so they fall right below your jawline.
For long hair, wavy layers that fall by your cheeks will also look stunning.
Since your most prominent feature is your chin, be sure to watch out for blunt-cut bangs and excessively choppy layers.

Last but not least, it's the final installment in my beautiful bangs for your face shape series. Heart-shaped faces are suited to support lots of different bang styles since the forehead is often very high.

Again, side-swept or off-center long bangs are great for drawing attention to your eyes and cheekbones and away from your sharp chin. Also, short wispy bangs and fringe will work well on the different types of hair thickness.

Steer clear of blunt bangs if your face is very wide by the eyes and then very narrow down below. This will only make your face look longer.

A few heartthrobs with heart-shaped faces include Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Naomi Campbell, Victoria Beckham, Brittany Murphy and Jennifer Love Hewitt. I think that those of you with a heart-shaped faces are the luckiest of the bunch, since you have such rare bone structure.
