Beautiful Bangs for Your Face Shape, Part III: Oval

Welcome to the third installment of Beautiful Bangs for Your Face Shape. Celebrities such as Sarah Michelle Gellar, Beyonce, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Garner, Hillary Swank and Sarah Jessica Parker all have oval/long shaped faces. The best types of bang styles for them-or for you-are longer bangs that fall a little bit below the eyebrows.

Yet perhaps one special celeb whose bangs have evolved dramatically over the years is Halle Berry. Curious about what I mean? Check out some of her past hairstyles here.

If you have an oval face shape, you are lucky, since you can play around with many different bang options. For example, if your hair is thick, try a blunt-cut short bang. If your hair is thin, then a billowy fringe or long wisps will look great too!

The goal is to add some width and fullness at the sides so that your face looks more symmetrical. Avoid creating too much volume at the top, or you will only make your face look too drawn-out and oblong. (My mom calls this the "egghead.")

How-To: Sarah Michelle Gellar's Hair-With-a-Twist

When you all went wild for that gorgeous hair seen on Sarah Michelle Gellar at The Air I Breathe premiere, I got in touch with Mara Roszak, the stylist who created the look for Sarah. Mara, who has been styling celebrities since she was 17, has worked with other famous women including Halle Berry and Elisha Cuthbert. She predicts that "fresh skin, and fresh natural textured hair with pops of color" will be hot for Spring.

For Sarah Michelle Gellar, Mara was going for a bohemian look, inspired by Sarah's stunning turquoise gown.

STEP 1: Spray clean, wet hair with a texturizing styling spray. Mara used Bumble and bumble Surf Spray.
STEP 2: Blow-dry hair gently and loosely, encouraging any natural curl or wave to form. No need for a pin-straight blowout for this look.
STEP 3: Part hair on the side and start twisting in the direction away from your face. Start at the top front of the head and add more hair from each side of the existing hair as you twist back, until all the hair in front of your ear is pulled back. Connect the twists in the back of the head, and then the remaining hair can be pulled up into a messy twisted bun.
STEP 4: Finish off the look with a light hold hairspray. Mara used Renee Furterer hair spray to set Sarah's hair.

Naked Celebs Celebrate Skincare

Sarah Michelle Gellar is the latest celebrity to join Minnie Driver, Dave Navarro and this guess who sexy starlet in baring all for Vaseline's "skin is amazing" campaign. Amanda Bynes is also a part of the act and she joined SMG last night in NYC to celebrate the portraits of the beautiful stars which are also available on eBay where the money raised will benefit The Coalition of Skin Diseases. Amanda looks age appropriate and adorable as always while Sarah Michelle is scaring us a little. Her smoky eyes and tight hair might have been meant to be sexy but it comes across as a bit harsh. We love the light hearted SMG but perhaps Freddie likes this feisty version.

How-To: Nicole Richie's Laid Back and Natural Braid

At the 18th Annual Environmental Media Awards, Nicole Richie was all laid back and natural with her delicate French braids wrapped like a headband. If you're feeling this sexy, bohemian style, I've got the how-to below. And for another hippie-esque take on the look, try out Sarah Michelle Gellar's more twisty, less braidy updo from earlier this year.

Slightly dirty hair is easier to work with than freshly washed hair, but you can create "day-old" hair with a texturizing product. Lightly sprinkle Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Potion ($23) on the roots, working through to ends.
Next, part hair down the middle, stopping right before the crown area.
On one side, start French braiding. Gather pieces of hair as you move down, wrapping around to the opposite side, stopping before the ear. Hold together with a clear elastic band ($3.99). Don't worry about loose ends. Leave them for later.
On the other side, French braid - still gathering pieces as you go down, wrapping around to the opposite side like before. Focus on hiding the clear elastic band from your previous braid by tucking and intertwining loose ends from this braid. Use bobby pins to secure. The whole look is earthy, so be creative. The more you weave pieces from each braid together, the more organic and "flowy" it will feel.

Pop Watch: Lipstick Jungle, Episode 3, "Pink Poison"

I'm still liking Lipstick Jungle more and more each week, though I still think it's trying a little too hard. I'm still not absolutely loving Victory's scenes, but she and the show is growing on me. Wendy had some good moments, and Nico's affair took a nasty turn. Make sure you don't miss Fab and Bella's fashion and beauty quiz about the show, but first, here's more of my thoughts:

Robert Buckley has become my premiere TV crush, just saying. How gorgeous is he in this show?!
My favourite lines last night came from Maddie, like this one - "And the person who cuts my hair? Also cuts Sarah Michelle Gellar's"
It was so random but funny that they made Brooke Shields' feet into a plot point: Wendy doesn't try on shoes in public because people "marvel at how big they are." Amusing!

I really like Wendy, but I'm afraid I still don't understand her character - her personality is so split. She's so soft and warm and motherly, and I don't know how she gets from there to scrawling "b*tch" in lipstick on the back of Janice's coat.
Because of this, I'm not really sure whether she was conscious of how much she was using Maddie as a pawn in her fight over the nanny expose. She actually might have been wanting to give her some new clothes and a lunch out, but she also clearly wanted to parade her beautiful, nice daughter in front of Janice. But she pretty much dug her own grave there by screeching at Maddie; anyone who orders around an adolescent girl like that in public is going to pay.
Oh, billionaire Joe Bennett. One minute you're so nice, taking Victory away to Paris and setting her up in Coco Chanel's secret studio. The next, you're all antisocial and weird. Then you're sending over Coco's dress form. Then you're refusing to compromise again. Why do you make it so hard to like you? Another case of the split personality syndrome...
That said, his shock at the fact that Victory would actually ask him to hang out with her friends again was one of my favourite moments of the episode. Time is money, Victory!
Nico's really not so good at this affair thing, is she? Who in their right mind gets her goooorgeous bedfellow fired, and then writes him a cheque, thus creating a paper trail that links them?
Nico is good at getting her friends out of trouble though. I love Janice's new assistant: Sweater Boy! That was a nice addition.
So, a sexual harassment lawsuit? That's going to get ugly fast. The rest of the women ended up in a pretty good place (Wendy making up with Maddie, Victory at least telling Joe what she needs), so I suppose it's good that there's at least one salacious story held over for next week.

Love It or Hate It? Sarah Michelle's Plaited Updo

She'd hate to hear it, but Sarah Michelle Gellar will always be Buffy to me. "Ooh, a new hairstyle for Buffy," I thought when I saw her at last night's premiere of The Air I Breathe. Haven't heard of this film, but she stars in it with Forest Whitaker-wonder if she's using his wife's line of cosmetics now.

Anyway, I'm loving Buffy's-er, Sarah's-makeup, which is bright but not too bubblegummy. And her hair is certainly a refreshing change from the traditional updos we usually see. It's kinda messy, but I think I like it. What do you think of Sarah's style here?
