This week's opening of The Office isn't necessarily a huge spooky surprise since we already got a peek at those costumed spoiler photos, but I still laughed through every minute of the intro. Jim's "Bookface" costume? A-ma-zing.

You can choose your friends, but you can't choose your family. This fact of life means that many of us put up with people we might not otherwise get along with.
Yesterday's New York Times examined what happens when certain family members, namely parents, cross the line from imperfect to completely intolerable.

This week's House continued to stick to the tried-and-true show recipe, and our favorite doctor was there pulling the strings — even if he isn't technically in charge. The episode answered one or two of my previous questions, and while the writers quickly tied up the dilemma involving last week's death of the dictator (breathe a collected sigh of relief), I highly doubt that Chase and Foreman's shared secret is just going to be swept under the rug for good.
I'm curious to see how everything plays out, but for now, take a look at my questions (some spoilers!) from this week's episode and share your thoughts when you read more

Everyone loves a vacation, right? Beautiful scenery, tropical drinks, fun in the sun. Add a few of your closest friends and you could have the trip of a lifetime — or a romantic getaway gone horribly awry.

After an entire Summer without House, you can believe I was ready for last night’s two-hour premiere. With House checked in to an asylum, we knew season six was taking us in to new territory.
From the start they let us know that this was not your typical episode.

Mary Pols's Accidentally on Purpose made me laugh, cry, and relate. I rooted for the 39-year-old film critic and her baby daddy, Matt, as I read the author's witty account of her unplanned journey into motherhood. Considering the book to be the mama of all pregnancy must reads, I even gifted it to several expecting friends.

Getting your drink on may not the healthiest vice, but it has proven career advantages. A study conducted by a couple of economists found that people who drink in a social setting earn 10 to 14 percent more than those who save their drinking for home. Office-sanctioned happy hours allow co-workers a chance to socialize and break down work barriers, which can lead to stronger working relationships and idea generating.

Dear Savvy,
I've been relatively happy with my job as an executive assistant for the last three years, but the company I work for has been going through financial problems and I've heard rumors of layoffs in the near future. My boss keeps alluding to his stress over the company's well-being, though he hasn't mentioned anything about my specific position. I don't want to jump the gun and assume that staff cuts are coming soon, but it's hard to go on about my business when I'm concerned about my future with the company.

I know it would take something bigger than a new guy to shove my number one out of my life, but cat allergies are more common and typically more severe than dog ones. Which brings us to this adorable feline — she needs a new home since her owner is moving in with a new girlfriend who's just not that into cats and allergic!
It's a tough situation, but I'm curious to hear from you — ever sacrificed a pet or sucked it up to save a relationship?

My relationship with custom ringtones is rocky. Like 67 percent of geeksugar readers, I use them occasionally (mostly for humor purposes) but hearing catchy tunes coming from inside my coworker's purse can grind my gears. You can keep things contemporary and hip on the cheap with audiko, a free web service that will allow you to make ringtones out of any songs in your music library or download from its large collection of songs.
