One might assume that a child would be less frightened watching something scary if he were in the company of his parents. Not so says a group of Finnish researchers. According to a new study published in the journal Child: Care, Health and Development, children are actually more afraid of the events on the screen when their folks are in their presence.

Recently, a distressed reader contacted me about an unfortunate incident regarding a box of black hair color and the subsequent regretful results. Here's her story:
Three months ago I had an adult identity crisis and dumped a box of jet black dye on my naturally medium brown hair. Now I can't get it to lift out for anything — professionally or at home.

Kristen Stewart showed off her new Joan Jett style haircut finally yesterday, no longer hiding the chop under her hood! She went out with Dakota Fanning yesterday to the petrol station on a break from the studio where they're preparing for new movie The Runaways which is a biopic of the all girl band that formed in 1975. It's definitely a step away from her Twilight character Bella — I wonder if she'll have to wear a wig when she starts filming the third movie later this year?

We caught a sneak peek at Kristen Stewart shooting the November cover of Allure back in July at the Santa Monica Pier, and the issue is finally about to hit newsstands. It's yet another cover after her recent appearance in Interview as she makes the rounds to discuss her latest film in the Twilight series. She sat down to chat all about her personality, what sets the movies apart from all the other vampire stories, and even Robert Pattinson.

Nicole Richie brought Harlow out to mingle with some ducks at the park in LA on Saturday. Harlow showed off her growing confidence on her own two feet as she surveyed the scene. Nicole chopped a few inches off her hair last week but she's still sporting her effortlessly chic California waves as opposed to the perfect side swept bangs we still remember so well.

A Note From Buzz: With so many new movies this week, my friend Très was nice enough to apply her scary-movie expertise to review the box office's newest zombie flick.
In the United States of Zombieland, zombies outnumber people. A mad-cow tainted burger tipped the population in favor of the drooling, limping, and grunting set, and now zombies roam a crashed-car littered, empty-minimall-blighted zombiescape.

In his Hollywood directorial debut, Ricky Gervais takes us to an alternate universe where honesty makes the world go round. It's not just that lie-telling is an impossibility; everyone can't help but speak their minds at all times, no matter how personal, embarrassing, or brutal their innermost thoughts may be. The premise of The Invention of Lying is rife for comedy, but the film is also a commentary on religion and has its sad moments as well.

A self-proclaimed mermaid, I drowned in Proenza Schouler's aquatic chic Spring collection. It wasn't evident right away — leather and bondage shirt dresses and jackets opened. And then, like a flurry of fish, tiered and ruffled frocks in teals, turquoise, and acid green stole the scene.
