Sherlock Holmes - See It or Skip It?

We've seen the photos, but finally we get our first proper look at Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes in this trailer, and it looks like a lot of fun! Robert Downey Jr stars as the British detective, with Jude Law as his right hand man Watson, plus Rachel McAdams as the sassy Irene Adler. From the trailer, Guy's movie seems to promise plenty of action, a lot of laughs, and Robert Downey Jr handcuffed naked to a bed, so I've added it to my must-see list when it comes out on December 26! But what about you - will you see it or skip it? Let me know!

Madonna Works Out While Guy Gets Work

Madonna was in good spirits leaving the gym today after her routine workout, but she's not the only one with something to smile about. Guy Ritchie just signed on to direct a new Sherlock Holmes movie based on Lionel Wigram's upcoming comic book reinvention of the classic character. Between the good news about David's adoption from last week, Madonna's upcoming world tour, and Guy's new gig, the family has a lot to celebrate these days.

Brad Pitt Might Face Off With RDJ in Sherlock Holmes Sequel

Warner Brothers is already developing a sequel to the not-yet-released Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, and early gossip suggests that Brad Pitt has been in talks to join the cast as Moriarity, Holmes's rival.

Please let this be true! Not only would adding Pitt to the Downey-Law lineup help keep the Holmes franchise afloat, but Downey and Pitt in the same film is pretty much my dream - both guys have that wise-cracking persona, good looks, and it would be so much fun to see them spar.

The downside: Pitt's character Moriarity is supposedly only shown in shadow according to the script, making him impossible to actually see. Not a single shot of Pitt's face? Bummer.

No word yet if Pitt will be affecting a British accent or using his Inglorious Basterds hillbilly.

Three's Company for Guy, Robert and Jude

Having enjoyed a night off together last week, Guy Ritchie, Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law were back to work today, filming scenes for Sherlock Holmes in Manchester. Guy looked surprisingly happy and relaxed, given that new rumours about his relationship with Madonna are surfacing so frequently; perhaps he's relieved to be free of the "behaviour contract" he reportedly signed with Madonna in an attempt to save their relationship. Robert, meanwhile, has been signing contracts of his own, agreeing to a four-picture deal with Marvel. Surely that warrants a smile?

Robert's Sherlock Won't Be Battling Brad

Robert Downey Jr left Claridge's Hotel in London with his suitcase last night, having been staying in the city this week reshooting key scenes for Guy Ritchie's new Sherlock Holmes movie alongside Rachel McAdams and Jude Law. Despite rumours that Brad Pitt was joining the movie as Sherlock's nemesis Moriarty, a studio spokesman denied it, saying:

“Brad Pitt is not joining the cast of Sherlock Holmes and we’re extremely pleased with the production of the film. In order to complete the movie, we’ve scheduled a few days on set to shoot a couple of additional scenes, obtain pick-up shots, and perfect some of the visual effects elements, all of which is standard film-making practice.”

Thanks to the cast and the trailer, I'm really looking forward to seeing Robert as Sherlock - are you?

Rachel, Jude and Robert Return For Sherlock Reshoots

Robert Downey Jr, Rachel McAdams and Jude Law are in London at the moment reshooting and filming some additional scenes for Guy Ritchie's upcoming Sherlock Holmes movie. While Rachel's moved on to promoting The Time Traveler's Wife, which had its New York premiere at the end of last week, Jude Law has been working on Hamlet in the West End. After it finishes its run in the UK, the play is headed to New York city where Jude will be treading the boards on an opening night that happens to be the same night that his fourth child is due to be born. It's shaping up to be a busy year for the Sherlock cast!

Diane Kruger Keeps Plugging Away

Diane Kruger wore two different black outfits today for her morning of interviews in NYC before stopping by It's on With Alexa Chung. She's been diligently making the rounds to promote Inglourious Basterds before it opens in theaters this Friday. Her costar Brad Pitt has also been putting himself out there before their movie's release, though he apparently won't have to discuss the rumors he's a late addition to Sherlock Holmes.

Jake And Reese Attend Hollywood Holiday Beach Bash

Reese Witherspoon, Jake Gyllenhaal, Robert Downey Jr, Tom Hanks, Kate Beckinsale and Guy Ritchie all attended a star-studded Memorial Day beach party in Malibu yesterday. Sherlock Holmes buddies Guy and Robert probably shared some movie chat inside, with Robert bringing along his son Indio. Reese looked adorable in her pink cardi and flip flops, while Kate went a little more dressed up in her sky high wedges, arriving with her husband Len Wiseman. Check out Jake and Robert's matching outfits, perhaps it's the new Hollywood hunk uniform! Isn't it fun seeing that they all go out and socialise together?

Rachel McAdams Is Seriously Pink For Sherlock Holmes

Rachel McAdams spent some quality time in hair and makeup before donning a spectacularly pink dress on the set of Sherlock Holmes in Brooklyn yesterday. While there is still another Sherlock Holmes movie in the works starring Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen, we've already gotten quite a taste for this more serious production. Though with comedic Oscar nominee Robert Downey Jr. on set, it can't be all work and no play for the cute cast.

Rachel Romances Injured Robert

Rachel McAdams joined Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law on the Sherlock Holmes set this week, adding a little femininity to Guy Ritchie's set as love interest Irene Adler. Jude's one of the actors in my fun Best Of 2008 poll about facial hair, check out his competition and vote if you haven't! The movie is still being filmed in London at the moment, with the cast wrapping up warm over their costumes to keep out the bitter cold that's taken over the capital lately. Robert has had to suffer for his art, after a punch thrown by a wrestler as part of the movie landed and he was knocked out cold! Robert was taken to hospital and apparently had to have stitches in his mouth, lets hope they're all healed before "action" is called on any kissing scenes with Rachel!
