My girl FabSugar has been doing her thing at New York Fashion Week and I was expecting to see some less skinny models this time around since other major fashion weeks took action against using super skinny models. Turns out, not so much the case in NYC. In fact it seems like no one was even talking about it...

Last season it was a big deal (or so I thought) when reports said that the Council of Fashion Designers of America issued guidelines teaching models about nutrition, banning those under 16 years old from runways and offering healthy food backstage, with no smoking or alcohol. But this season, no one seems to even remember it was an issue since most consumers never rejected designers who still used ultra-thin models.

Not entirely surprising, as we all know that ~~a slap on the wrist~~ guidelines don't usually do the trick. So now, Milan remains the only city of the four fashion powerhouses (New York, London and Paris are the others) to pass an outright ban.

So what do you guys think about this? Should ultra skinny models be banned from the NYC runways? Or do you think skinny models are simply an iconic mark of fashion week and should remain? You know I want to hear your opinion, so speak up and share your thoughts in the comments section below.

I'm Too Skinny: Too Skinny for This Show

Even though NY did not seem to follow the recent trend in making models that are too skinny sit out the runway, Madrid is definitely pulling its weight (no pun intended).

Madrid, the first city last year to ban models who are too skinny, has gone a step further this year and declared 5 models too thin for the catwalk at this week's international designer show. The other 64 models who were checked had enough fat on them to take part on the runways, including one, Maria Campoy, who was banned in September for being too boney. Campoy actually had to gain weight for this year's show and she did, which I think is fantastic.

With the fashion weeks hopping from city to city, eating disorders are a hot topic right now, but do you blame the fashion industry? Take my poll to cast your vote and see what others are saying.

Fab Blab: Cindy Crawford on Skinny Models

The original supermodels have experienced a bit of a renaissance over the past few seasons as the classic faces have been appearing in high profile ad campaigns around the globe. Cindy Crawford has manages to keep herself in amazing shape and has made several red carpet appearances in recent months. This week, she spoke to The Guardian about the changing face of fashion.

When asked if models have got too thin she explained, "The girls who are models now, that's just their body. Does fashion celebrate thinness more? That's a different question. You can't fault the models for that – they are just thin girls. Kate Moss, she eats. I've seen her eat, and she's just thin. Fashion is all about extremes, and it's constantly in flux. It's just fashion."

Cindy later added, "If people don't want skinny models, stop buying the magazine with the skinny model, and believe me those magazines will change fast. It's business." Do you agree with her and think that the power lies with the consumer?

Kate Moss is Branded as "Irresponsible" for Skinny Comments

When Kate Moss gave an interview to WWD about her new fragrance, I was pretty shocked to hear her reveal one of her mottoes – "nothing tastes as good as skinny feels". It seems to have been a bit of a slow burner in the news, but today it has landed the model in trouble as eating disorder charity Beat described the comments as "dangerous" and "very unhelpful".

Storm models released a statement saying that Kate's comments had "been taken out of context and completely misrepresented." They also added, "For the record - Kate does not support this as a lifestyle choice."

Former model Caprice has spoken out against Kate saying, "I don't even know why she said that. I really like her but it's so irresponsible." The saying is strongly associated with eating disorders and regularly appears on pro-anorexia websites.

In recent years there has been a lot of campaigns in place to tackle the so-called "size zero" including one set up by former Ultimo model Katie Green. She also branded Kate as "irresponsible" for her comments adding, "We are trying to get the government to put something in place to stamp out size zero models and comments like this aren't doing anything to help that." Do you think that Kate should know better, or do you believe that she has been misrepresented?

Liv Tyler Agrees That Size Zero is Unhealthy

Liv Tyler recently talked about dieting and motherhood. She said, "I've been on a diet my whole life." Being in the public eye, she spent years worrying about her weight, that is, until she became a mom.

Many women can relate, comparing themselves to skinny models, and forever being on a diet and working out to shed pounds. The thing is, models are getting skinnier, so women think they need to too, even though it's unhealthy for their bodies and their self-esteem.

Liv Tyler doesn't agree with it. She said,"I definitely think the girls look too skinny now. I'm friends with Helena Christensen and Linda Evangelista, and I remember Linda telling me that when she was a model (in the '90s), a sample size was a 6 or an 8. Now a sample dress size is a 0 or a 2. That's pretty alarming. There's a lot of pressure on the models. It's not healthy. I can't even imagine what that's like."

I'd like to find inspiration in Liv's thoughts and in her sister, Mia Tyler. She's a gorgeous and sexy plus-size model who's healthy and confident. It's great to see celebrities who represent real women. You know, for all of us who'll never have a model's strict BMI, not because we can't, but because we know it's unhealthy.

Love It or Hate It? Victoria Beckham's Voluminous Waves

At this weekend's Los Angeles Laker's basketball game, Posh and her precious brood gathered on their amazing floor seats to check out the action.

Victoria, dressed in grey skinny jeans and a tiny top was showing off more than just her outfit and handsome hubby. In fact, the singer, clothing designer and cover model was debuting a longer and looser hairstyle than we're used to seeing on her. Could it be extensions, or perhaps just growth that she's been keeping tucked away behind all of her Alice bands this past year?

Christian Louboutin Thinks Barbie Has Cankles

I feel bad for Barbie. After enduring decades of criticism for being too thin and having not of this world proportions, legendary shoe designer Christian Louboutin says Barbie's cankles just won't do for his red-soled masterpieces.

Louboutin is the latest in a line of high-fashion designers to makeover the iconic doll. He's created three head-to-toe looks for her, which even includes a mini Louboutin shoe box. Apparently Louboutin found Barbie's ankles "too fat" and asked her parent company Mattel that she get some work done. It's unknown at this time if Mattel will comply in slimming down the doll's ankles for the designer. The Louboutin edition Barbies are slated to be released early next year.

Louboutin is not the first designer to think skinny is just not skinny enough: model Filippa Hamilton's size 8 body was digitally retouched in a Ralph Lauren ad campaign. The Photoshopped picture shows an extra large head looming over a stick of a body. Ironically this image looks a lot like what Barbie's body would if she was a real woman.

The fashion industry and Barbie have long been cited for making women feel inadequate about their bodies. With this extra slicing and dicing from designers it sounds like this issue is nowhere close to being gone.

Celebrity Style: Selita Ebanks

Selita Ebanks doesn't mind posing for the camera. Sporting her cropped do, the model looked fresh and fantastic in NYC during a visit to The Tyra Banks Show to celebrate the first all-black model issue of Vogue Italia. It looks like walking down the runway has perfected her art of styling. I like how she wrapped a brown belt around her cuffed Smythe boyfriend blazer and spiced things up with those colorful cut-out heels. One word describes this look: Fab!

Fittingly Mad: Starvation is NOT Beautiful

In light of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week from February 25 - March 3, and because another model, Eliana Ramos, has passed away from anorexia, I am overwhelmed with so many feelings. I'm angry with the media for making girls think that thin equals beauty. I'm also sad for people battling eating disorders, and for the families who've lost loved ones.

It's not just models and actresses who feel the pressure to be super thin. The young girls and women of the world who see magazine covers think that that is the norm, the expected.

The average female model weighs up to 25% less than the typical woman and maintains a weight at about 15 to 20 percent below what is considered healthy for her age and height.

Some models go through plastic surgery, some are "taped-up" to mold their bodies into more photogenic representations of themselves, and all photos are airbrushed and altered by a computer designer before going to print (in fact this photo, I think, might even be manipulated to make the model appear even thinner for some pro-anorexia site).

These body types and images are NOT the norm and are unobtainable to the average individual. But unfortunately, the constant force of these images on society makes us believe that we should all look emaciated and rail-thin.

We need to remind each other and ourselves constantly - especially young girls - that these images are fake. Being healthy and having a healthy body image is what it's all about.
