I've always thought of Canadian furniture store EQ3 as a sort of Ikea for grown-ups. So I started doing some research on the company after seeing a post on Decor8 the other day, and wouldn't you know, that's pretty much what the founders had in mind.

EQ3 was founded by Peter Tielmann, who moved from Europe to North America in 1999 and was shocked by the lack of cool furniture options for young consumers. The furniture and other products are un-boring but basic enough to fit into all types of decor; there's a great selection of lovely modern couches that won't break the bank, despite very hip silhouettes and customizable fabric options. Is Your Sofa Naked?

I can't help but toss a few throw pillows on my sofa. It just makes it easier to relax. Since my sofa is fairly modern, and lacks overstuffing, throw pillows are definitely needed, in my opinion.

Other, plusher sofas, though, can often get by without extraneous throw pillows. I know plenty of guys' sofas that observe a strict no-throw-pillow policy, but most of the women I know love to decorate with throw pillows. What about you?

Roundup: Neutral Sofas

I adore this sofa, which is featured in The Invention of Lying. It has great, clean lines and a modern shape, but still looks cozy, and the neutral linen color makes it easy to decorate around. Neutral sofas are a great building block for a number of styles, from classic country to bohemian chic. Just add accents and textiles around the neutral sofa to bring your personality into the space.

Nice and New: West Elm Convertible Sofa

For those of you wondering how to decorate a studio, or just living in a small space, I've always emphasized that dual-purpose furniture is key. A pull-out sofa will accommodate overnight guests and serve as seating during the day. At 66" wide, the West Elm Convertible Sofa ($799) is a great size for a studio. It will fit two people comfortably in front of a coffee table (or storage ottomans!) and unfolds to be used as a bed when needed. It's only available in two colors — light camel or pumice —. But, I think the colors are pretty versatile, especially if you personalize the sofa with your own accent pillows and a throw.

Ok, this may not be the best idea if you have kids, pets, or accident-prone people in your house. But if you live in a small space with barely enough room for a coffee table, this Vanpey SofaHanger would come in very handy. Designed by Berliner Ralf Paul Schmitz, the makeshift table comes in two varieties - the SofaHanger Alu (at left) and the Bordeaux (at right) - and the width is customized to fit your sofa.

Crave Worthy: Philippe Starck Royalton Sofa

Though I'm not a mathematician by trade, I still believe that the Royalton Sofa ($9,335) - designed by Philippe Starck in 1991 - can be expressed by the following formula: Settee + Headboard = Royalton. The ever-resourceful and always surprising Starck is responsible for many unique designs, including my fave, the Louis Ghost Chair.

Of course, I'm more likely to spend 10G on my garden than on this piece of furniture - let's face it, if your dog secretly jumps on your sofa, it's never a good idea to drop a lot of money on such a royal piece. However, a girl can still dream, right? The Royalton, a few Louis Ghost Chairs, a luxurious rug . . . my dream living room's out there somewhere, even if it's only in my imagination.

Love It or Hate It? Whitney Port's Sectional Sofa

I'm not keen on reality TV but The City is my guilty pleasure: I just can't get enough of the fabulous interiors, particularly Whitney Port's one-bedroom. The central feature of her killer pad is this gorgeous turquoise and gold patterned sofa. I'm absolutely infatuated with it, but I'm sure it's a custom piece, sad! I know it's not everyone's taste though; do you love it as much as I do?

Steal of the Day: Room & Board Townsend Sofa

It's pretty rare that a sofa makes my Steal of the Day cut. But, at nearly 40 percent off, the Room & Board Townsend 64-inch Armless Sofa ($699, reduced from $1,100) in Doria Pepper certainly qualifies. No, it doesn't have arms, but its plump cushions look enticingly comfortable. Don't you just want to sink into it? I'd love to see it with a low-lying industrial coffee table or a steamer trunk. The "pepper" color is versatile too — perfect with some moody reds, ravishing raspberry or even some robin's egg blue.

As a kid, it was really cool to have a bunk bed, especially if it was covered in something even cooler, like novelty sheets featuring The Smurfs or the Transformers. But this Transformer-meets-bunk-bed totally kicks the ass of all those other forms of coolness. I mean, really, how amazingly awesome is this Mobelform Doc Sofa/Bunk Bed?
