Pop singer Justin Timberlake recently opened his first restaurant in New York City. Called Southern Hospitality, it's a BBQ joint that serves exactly what you would expect from a Southern boy at heart: ribs, cornbread, hush puppies, and fried chicken. Many of the recipes are from his family's collection, including his grandmother's deviled eggs and pecan pie.

Last week, when my older brother was in town, he requested ribs and cornbread for dinner. I had to work late so the entire dinner was left to my dad to prepare. My dad does a great job, but in my opinion, he takes a little too much help from the store, and didn't make the cornbread.

Call me crazy — or attribute it to some bizarre form of reverse psychology — but all that hoopla over KFC's grilled chicken left me craving crispy, spicy, hot-out-of-the-oil fried chicken. TeamSugar member GinaGaladriel must have read my mind: using Cajun spices and Goya seasoning, she modified a fried chicken recipe she saw on YouTube to her family's liking. Now that I've witnessed the power of Gina's fried chicken, it may be time to put aside childish thoughts of grilled chicken and whip up a batch of my own chicken-fried goodness.

Tonight, invite your family to celebrate Mardi Gras with this classic Creole rice dish. Although jambalaya traditionally simmers on the stove for hours, this simple variation takes some help from the store, cutting down the cook time.
It's not short of flavor, though; hot sauce, shrimp, and kielbasa sausage provide depth and deliciousness.

This was one of those fridge-clean-out sandwiches that came together so brilliantly I wanted to make it again immediately. I started with some ingredients I needed to use up ASAP: precooked chicken patties from Trader Joe's, a bag of mixed Southern-style greens, and a yellow onion.
Then I thought, let's make things a little more interesting.

Filled with anticipation of the workweek, Sunday night can easily fall short of a relaxing evening. So, to keep my thoughts at bay, I'm going to prepare the ultimate in comfort food: cassoulet, a pork and bean casserole that hails from southern France.
Traditional cassoulet can be heavy and time-intensive, but I've found one that's luscious yet light — and takes less than an hour to prepare.

After stuffing myself silly with Mexican food nachos on Cinco de Mayo, I just couldn't bear to have another plate of tortilla chips covered in cheese. That's why I started thinking about other types of chips and toppings. Before I knew it, I was in my kitchen crazily making these buffalo — as in wings not mozzarella — nachos. In this insanely tasty dish, sour cream and onion potato chips are topped with diced buffalo chicken and a blue-cheese sauce.
