On Our Radar: Rebecca Taylor Launches Accessories

Amongst the bevy of cute animal prints and flowy fabrics in Rebecca Taylor's Spring collection were some amazing handbags, shoes, and jewels. These confections were actually from her newly launched accessories line, debuting in stores come Spring.

“It’s something that we’ve been wanting to do for a long time,” said Taylor. “Every woman loves shoes and handbags. We didn’t want to start it unless it was in a very meaningful way.”

Taylor's collection, priced from $300 to $400 for footwear and $150 to $300 for jewelry, will encompass the designer's pretty-meets-urban style. Boots and flats have a funky edge, while bags and jewels are embellished with crystals and sequins such as the handbag seen here.

The collection will be sold at select online retailers and Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue.

First Look! House of Harlow Shoes

Earlier this month, Nicole Richie announced plans to launch a contemporary womenswear line in time for Spring 2010. The whole collection is yet to be unveiled, but I can now show you some of the footwear! It will be available from MyWardrobe from early 2010 and I have a sneak preview of the footwear for you. The shoes reflect Nicole's own style with an eclectic mix of influences. She explained,

“Fashion should be accessible. That was my philosophy when designing House of Harlow 1960 and it remains my philosophy for Winter Kate. I started working on this collection in early 2009, the pieces can be dressed up, made casual but most importantly, they provide the wearer a means of self-expression and fun.”

I really like the cut out ankle boots and the detail on the heels on the black peep toe. What do you think of Nicole's footwear debut?

If you loved Brian Atwood's steamy ad campaign, wait until you see his new book, named Role Play Rene. Although we can't actually purchase the book - only 1,000 copies were printed for Atwood’s close friends and fans - we can still admire the photos and let our imaginations run wild.

The book is said to revolve around Atwood's Spring line and features Rene Russo wearing the designer's decadent footwear in an array of sexy situations. “I wanted an icon, and I loved her in the Thomas Crown Affair,” said Atwood. “Rene is beautiful, fun, talented. It was fun to see the ‘supermodel’ come out of her.” Rene Russo in Atwood's sultry shoes? Must. See. More.

Jimmy Choo's Spring '09 campaign is overflowing with sizzling, sexy footwear and accessories. Shot by Terry Richardson, Angela Lindvall dons the brand's latest array of the brand's funky stilettos and sandals. I like how the NYC cityscape gives Angela a glamorous, woman-on-the-go vibe. The selection of bold handbags and shoes - all embellished with contrast stitching, rivets, and fun textures - are pure eye candy. Not the most creative campaign but it's effective. Want more? For his Spring '09 ad campaign, Brian Atwood took the sexy route and showed us how wearing the perfect pair of shoes can make any guy swoon. Shot by Tony Duran, the ad depicts Jon Kortajarena lusting over Rene Russo (random)'s sexy array of footwear. Jon is so close to Russo's feet, he's practically making out with Atwood's racy collection of python sandals and gold heel stilettos. Talk about having a foot fetish! Fantastical Spring Footwear

Shoes have reached an extreme - I love it. You might be wondering, "I thought you were a flat girl, though, Fab." I am, I am. But I also escape reality via fantastical footwear. I have nowhere to wear these gutsy concoctions, or the means to buy them, but if I did, I would indulge (and suffer). Platforms and unstable heels caused a couple crashes down the catwalks, though, so a flat backlash might be on the horizon. In the meantime, feast your eyes on Pilati's cold caged sandal for YSL and more fantasies . . .
