What's Buzzworthy? Wedding and Marriage Novels

Last week the USA premiered their summer series "The Starter Wife" which was based on the popular novel by Gigi Levangie Grazer about a woman who married into a hip Hollywood lifestyle that she's forced to leave behind when her husband cheats on her.

It makes me think of another marriage-themed book I read recently, Something Borrowed by Emily Giffin, in which the main characters' love triangle threatens to shake up an engagement. The book is funny and self-deprecating, and each of the characters learns something about him/herself in the end, which seems to often be the case in novels about weddings or marriage.

Thus, this week's Buzzworthy challenge is to bookmark the novels or memoirs specifically about marriage or weddings that you find most arresting (and no, they do not have to be happy stories). The tag to use when bookmarking your choices is wedding books, but please don't bookmark your favorite planners!

Jenna Fischer of "The Office" is in pain but recovering after her scary fall, she tells USA Today.
Billboard brings news of the Download Fest lineup and it's intriguing: The Cure, Neko Case, Modest Mouse, Wolf Parade, Kings of Leon and several others are included.
Amber Heard of "Hidden Palms" will star in dramatic teen movie Get Some, reports Zap2It.
In branded entertainment news, Pond's and the upcoming Debra Messing show "Starter Wife" are in cahoots, intent on making Messing's character "a Pond's woman," Slate tells us.
MyNetwork TV, that channel that sprung up wherever your UPN station used to be, is planning a lot of reality TV for fall, Variety reports.
Dane Cook somehow got another movie part, this time playing another love-challenged dude in the comedy Bachelor 2, says Hollywood Reporter.
The Police have agreed to play an all-acoustic set for an MTV's "Unplugged," taking place on July 13, reports Fox News.
According to NME, Green Day is releasing their own version of the "Simpsons" theme song in conjunction with their appearance in The Simpsons Movie.

Debra Premieres Starter Wife, With Starter Wife Creator

Debra Messing was out looking nice (other than the dress) to celebrate the premiere of her new mini-series, Starter Wife. Also gracing the red carpet with her presence was Gigi Levangie (Grazer), who wrote the roman a clef, Starter Wife, on which the series is based. She was also on the arm of her maybe/maybe not ex-husband, movie producer Brian Grazer. Soooo, does that mean she wasn't a "starter wife" after all? Anyway, the show looks like it could be good summer fun. Plus, check back soon for our awesome Starter Wife Swag giveaway!! Yay! Free Stuff! Fun times.

Debra Takes a Break From Her Wifely Duties

Debra Messing has been busy promoting The Starter Wife but she took a break to help nurse her sore thumb with a little iced coffee and shopping in Soho last weekend. The mini series, which premieres on USA this Thursday, stays in the comedic realm that Debra is used to from her Will & Grace days, but the filming experience was very different. She said, "In The Starter Wife, we shot it like a film, we shot it out of order, it was 4 months, 6 hours worth of film, so there was the luxury of time to tell the story. So I think the comedy comes out of character more and there is more of a balance between the drama and the comedy."

Debra's Just Getting Started

We haven't seen much of Debra Messing since her lovably quirky Will & Grace days. Apparently she's been spending time in NYC with her husband and son (and shopping for jewelry by the looks of it) - but she'll be back on the small screen soon. This May, Debra stars in a new series on USA called The Starter Wife. The show based on the bestselling novel is about a woman who divorces her Hollywood exec husband and starts a new life for herself. Sounds like the perfect guilty pleasure.

2009 Golden Globe Awards: Debra Messing

You probably adored her as the quirky Grace Adler on Will & Grace, for which she was nominated six times for a Golden Globe award. And now that she's starring in a new series, Debra Messing is up for another Golden Globe tonight for her role on The Starter Wife.

With a midnight blue taffeta dress, jewel-toned emerald earrings, and voluminous auburn curly locks, her look is bold and colorful. As for her makeup, she chooses to accentuate her light brown eyes with heavy black liner and mascara, keeping her lips and cheeks more natural.

CW and NBC Take TCAs Through the Weekend

The fun rolled on this weekend at the TCAs! After the panels on Saturday and Sunday, came last night's big party. The crowd included old favorites from The Office, new all-stars like the cast of Kath and Kim, and a few select Heroes, including Hayden and Milo, who kept their distance. The Bravo reality stars kept us laughing all night at the soiree. Another special treat was the beautiful Bar Refaeli who was there to promote her new show Ironic Iconic America. She discussed the show, favorite designers, and just being a jeans and T-shirt kind of girl at heart - more on all that later.

As for the panels, the CW kicked things off Saturday with new guilty pleasures all around including 90210, the new Privileged and Stylista - think The Devil Wears Prada gone reality. Sunday the adorable cast of Friday Night Lights hit the stage to discuss their third season and taking the show to DirecTV. The lovely Debra Messing dazzled in green to promote The Starter Wife becoming a series. Head over to Buzz for all the latest news from the weekend.
