Rock Star Sting Produces Fields of Gold

Meet Sting, Grammy-winning singer, songwriter - and organic farmer.

Last night at a town theater in Figline Valdarno, Italy, the rock star opened up about his 300-hectare Tuscan estate, which includes a 100 percent organic farm. There, he produces extra virgin olive oil, chestnut and acacia honey, fruits, vegetables, jam, salami, and other food products that are popular among fellow Tuscans.

"I came here and I decided to stay and be a farmer, because I wanted to nourish my family with genuine quality products in a healthy environment," the singer explained. "With this business in Tuscany I am trying to help myself and those who are close to me to live better in a natural context."

The celebrity also spoke about another highly anticipated product of his estate: his own label of wines, scheduled to roll out in September. The line will include a Chianti and a Toscana made primarily from Sangiovese grapes grown on his estate. The first release will be 30,000 bottles of 2007 vintage that have been cellared for two years.

Although I knew Sting was a notable environmental activist, I must admit that I had no idea he had a 100 percent organic farm that produced goods such as olive oil and salami. Would you buy Sting's wine to support his efforts?

President Obama Is Joined by Stars for a Ball of a Time

After being sworn in yesterday, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama celebrated with stars from both sides of the Atlantic in Washington DC last night. The overjoyed couple had their first dance to the strains of Beyonce singing "At Last", and there were lots of performances at all the balls. Alan Cumming watched fellow British stars Sting and Elvis Costello sing together at the Creative Coalition's Ball, while Tobey Maguire, Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher and Rosario Dawson enjoyed music from Kanye West and Kid Rock at the Be the Change Ball. Presidential Pride Abounds at Huffington Inauguration Party

The Huffington Post threw a pre-Inaugural Ball in DC last night to celebrate today's momentous occasion and find an excuse for another star-studded party. Arianna herself took the stage with will.i.am, and clearly the mood was joyful for the soiree. Demi and Ashton are still going strong after a long weekend of partying. Jessica Alba kept it festive with her blazer and Cash by her side. Pete Wentz didn't have Ashlee and Bronx with him but he is looking forward to telling him about it someday. After the Kids Inauguration Concert, the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato party-hopped their way to the HuffPost bash, and while they're too young to vote at this point, they'll have the memories of participating in this event forever.

Gerard, Jared and Brothers & Sisters Enjoy the Art of Elysium

As if all the glamour of the Golden Globes last night wasn't enough, LA also hosted the Art of Elysium gala on Saturday. Sarah Jane Morris and Rachel Griffiths went for shades of blue, while their Brothers & Sisters costar Dave Annable looked gorgeous as ever as he laughed alongside Ioan Gruffudd. Sting showed off his new hair colour, Jared Leto acted as photographer, and honorary guest Eva Mendes cuddled up with Gerard Butler, who swapped his laid back Miami beach chic for a shirt and tie. Our Scottish hunk has rubbished rumours he's a womaniser, saying: "Guys take a photograph of me speaking to someone and, apparently, I am having an affair with her. I'm having 10 affairs a day. It would be just too exhausting and I'm not that sort of guy". Too bad for Paris Hilton, who's apparently smitten with him.

The Men Keep It Classy and Classic For Golden Globes

There weren't a whole lot of bright colors for the men on the red carpet at last night's Golden Globes but if it ain't broke, there's no use in fixing it. Even without taking any chances, the boys looked great on a sunny LA day that allowed for some of them to sport their sunglasses. Tom Cruise looked fantastic as his wife was performing her last show on Broadway before immediately heading to LA to meet up with her husband for the after parties. Brad Pitt didn't leave Angelina's side while Leonardo had Kate Winslet on his arm for the photos. Some of our favorite TV stars like Jon Hamm, David Duchovny, and Kiefer Sutherland got to mingle with the big screen elite and everyone cleaned up well for the big show. Mariah, Patrick, Christina and More Get Artsy at Whitney Gala

Last night the stars got cultured at the Whitney Museum American Art Gala in NYC. A beautiful Christina Ricci and Emma Roberts stayed on trend in their dark and stormy dresses while Nick and Mariah were red carpet ready as usual. Becki Newton lightened things up a little in her busy pattern, but from the color palette across the board the darker months have hit Manhattan. Donatella Versace helped throw the party and had some man candy on her arm, the face of her line Patrick Dempsey, for the night. The theme of this year's gala was "Whitney - Past, Present and Future" but seeing the star studded red carpet the art wasn't the only exciting sight last night.

Sting And The Police Bow Out In Style

Sting was keen to prove he's still got it as he stripped off his top at The Police's gig at New York's Madison Square Garden last night, thought to have been their farewell show. Stewart Copeland, Andy Summers and Sting's performance was the final concert of the band's 150 date reunion tour, which lasted 14 months. The trio donned some appropriate head gear as they were joined onstage by the New York City Police band, before Sting lay back in a barber's chair while two women shaved off his beard, with his new image beamed over the big screen. Interesting...

The evening before, Sting and wife Trudie Styler (and his beard) attended the launch party for Lokah Music's The Ivy Ceiling CD at Bruno Jamais Restaurant in New York. The singer appears on one of the tracks, and Russell Simmons performs the introduction to Uma Nanda Saraswati and Sri Michael Shlofmitz's album. I've heard the CD, and while it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, the combination of kirtan chanting from India and modern music is surprisingly catchy.

Jump For Joy: Sugababes And The Sex Pistols At IoW Festival

A stellar lineup including The Sex Pistols, The Police, Sugababes, Scouting For Girls, The Enemy, Iggy Pop and so many more entertained an audience of celebs and regular folk at the Isle Of Wight Festival this weekend. Those who travelled over to listen to some music included Gavin And Stacey's Mathew Horne who looked super-cool in his Ray Bans, Nicole Appleton and Melanie Blatt, and Emma Griffiths.

Her man Matt Willis was supposed to be presenting coverage for ITV, but is in rehab at the moment – which probably accounts for her moment of sadness among the smiles. Elsewhere, Dave Berry attended with his Sugababe Heidi Range, and met up with Ian Brown backstage for a chat.

This Just In: Sting Settles on Central Park West

According to Big Time, Sting has purchased a 5,500-square-foot condo unit on the 16^th floor of a Central Park West building for $26.5 million. Apparently, according to records, Sting actually signed a contract to purchase the unit on May 26, 2006, but the deal didn't formally close until March 11, 2008. So, this purchase has been almost two years in the making! The CPW building is truly magnificent, boasting an elegant motor courtyard, a 35-x-45-foot limestone and marble lobby with two fireplaces and custom English oak paneling, an unprecedented view of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline, a 75-foot sky-lit lap pool, a private theater screening room, a private library, and 30 climate-controlled wine rooms. Sting also owns an 18-room duplex co-op elsewhere on Central Park West, which was at one point on the market for $24 million, meaning he and his wife now own more than $50 million worth of real estate on Central Park West!
