Can you believe it, T4 is 10 years old today! The show has become a must-have hangover companion on Sunday mornings for our generation, with past presenters including Dermot O'Leary, Vernon Kay, June Sarpong, Ben Shephard, and Margherita Taylor. There are various celebratory shenanigans on Channel 4 today to help mark the occasion, and I want to know your thoughts on the current presenters Rick Edwards, Miquita Oliver, Steve Jones and Alexa Chung.

Last night in London, Tamara Mellon hosted a party for Jimmy Choo Project PEP, attracting celebs like Guy Ritchie and Claudia Winkleman. T4 presenters Steve Jones and Jameela Jamil hung out at the party, ahead of T4's Stars of 2009 which will feature The Saturdays, N-Dubz and Kasabian. Jameela looked gorgeous in her dress and bright lipstick, while Martine McCutcheon softened her leather jacket with a pretty skirt and Jo Whiley DJ'd in her black dress.

Pixie Geldof looked like she was dressed up as Pebbles from The Flintstones as she took to the catwalk for Jeremy Scott on the last day of London Fashion Week yesterday. Meanwhile good friends Liv Tyler, Gwyneth Paltrow and Stella McCartney posed for photos at the Established & Sons private viewing also in London, alongside Stella's sister Mary, Sam Taylor-Wood and gorgeous Brit actor Aaron Johnson from Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging. Back at Fashion Week, Estelle was in the front row to watch Pixie strut her stuff, while T4 presenter Jameela Jamil and model Ben Grimes hung out at the Charlotte Olympia Tea Party.

At yesterday's T4 On The Beach concert in Weston-Super-Mare, performers gathered despite grey skies, wearing stylish outfits and funky hairstyles. Next to all of green and blue eye shadow present, perhaps the most popular lipstick shade I saw on Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Tulisa and Alesha Dixon was mod (retro) pink lipstick. It's fun to see this colour make a comeback and what better a venue than at a rockin' concert.

Congenital Hypothyroidism and Maternal Hyperthyroidism
Thyroid-lowering medications used for treating Graves’ disease, the most common cause of hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid), can cause babies to be born with hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid). Research presented at the 2006 annual meeting of the American Thyroid Association suggests that hyperthyroidism can be effectively managed during pregnancy without causing newborn hypothyroidism. The researchers suggest that:
- Pregnant women with Graves’ disease should take the lowest possible dose of their thyroid medication
- It is safe for women with Graves’ disease to maintain thyroid levels in the upper-normal range while pregnant
Low-Normal Thyroid and Metabolic Syndrome
- Thyroid levels in the low-normal range may increase the risk of unhealthy cholesterol levels, high blood sugar, and abdominal obesity -- indicators of metabolic syndrome -- according to a 2006 study in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism.
- Metabolic syndrome is a cluster of conditions, (including abdominal obesity, high blood sugar, and unhealthy cholesterol levels), which increases the risk for heart disease.

Steve Jones was spotted in Cannes yesterday, having fun on a yacht with friends including Heroes star Hayden Panettiere. The T4 presenter got shirtless in the sun, while Hayden covered up in a robe over her bikini as she and Steve looked happy as they relaxed on the boat. There's a twelve year age gap between the two, who definitely seem to be spending some serious time getting to know each other.

We saw lovely Ed Westwick looking dashing on the BAFTA TV Awards red carpet last night, but he had a busy weekend before that too! On Friday he appeared on GMTV and spoke to presenter Andrew Castle about all things Gossip Girl as well as the LA charity football game he will be taking part in. I have to say I think his rather sexy charisma comes through with his British accent just as well as his American — check out the interview under the cut and let me know what you think!

Research News:
- About 3,000 nonsmokers die each year of lung cancer resulting from exposure to secondhand smoke, according to a 2006 Surgeon General report.
- Advexin, a genetic therapy that contains the p53 tumor-suppressor gene, is showing promise. A 2006 study in Japan found that out of 13 patients with advanced NSCLC receiving Advexin, 10 had stabilized. Advexin is in Phase II clinical trials for NSCLC.
- Studies are finding that NSCLC tumors in people who never smoked have a much higher rate of epithelial growth-factor receptor (EGFR) mutations.

Risk factors
According to a report in the Archives of Dermatology, marathon runners are more likely than the general population to develop skin changes that increase the risk for melanoma.
Prevention
A study published in The Lancet indicates that the best ways to avoid sun damage are to reduce the time you spend in the sun and to wear a hat and clothing to protect as much of your skin as possible. Fabrics that are thick and tightly woven offer the best protection.
