I read a story last week about the small (and shrinking) population of US residents that don't have a cell phone — which included my fellow blogger and friend, Gregory Han, from Unplggd. Although a portion of this group do not have the means to own one, a majority of this population has made a conscious decision to ditch the phone by their own accord. It reminded me of a friend that recently gave up his cell along with his Facebook and Twitter accounts in an attempt to clear his mind and simplify his life.

If you have an iPod Touch or iPhone, I hope you're taking advantage of all the great health and fitness apps available. I just downloaded a new healthy app from Women's Health — the Slim Down Shopping List. It is cool, easy to use, and best of all it's free!

Yes, the iPhone comes with a Bark ring tone already built-in, but there are even more tricks to teach and (virtual) toys to entertain your real-life pet. For some, amuse may double as annoy, but check out these inexpensive apps to get your animals in on the iPhone action!

If you're a fan of Apple products (like me!), you surely know that the Macintosh operating software comes with some fantastic feline names. My pal geek is at WWDC today and told me all about the latest Mac OS X v10.6, named after the big cat seen below. I've gathered all the kitties featured thus far, so see if you can match their names to the pictures in this quiz.

If you're already an iPhone owner (or just contemplating a purchase), here's yet another app to add to your must-download list. Health portal, PetMD, has a free Finder that can help you locate key pet services in your area. Whether you're in a new neighborhood, planning a vacay, or simply curious what your city has to offer, this app is essential since you can search by either zip code or current location via GPS.

I've yet to get an iPhone, despite all the cool things geek's told me so far but this game's high on my list if I do. After all, ShiveringKittens looked totally adoro even before the big fundraising announcement yesterday.
GiantCrayon Games has joined with the ASPCA to raise money for animals with a promotion during March and April – for every game purchased on iTunes ($3), the company will donate $1 to the ASPCA.

Now we know Samson loves the Wii, but I'm sure his mama doesn't let him play unsupervised – ha! In all seriousness, I recently spotted an article citing the top-10 tech products most likely to injure pets. I'm not too sure how they got these results (and what the injuries were) so I'm switching it up, and want to hear from you – have your pets ever gotten tangled up in your technology?

So much for those break up rumors. The cute couple may have been on vacation but they are clearly still addicted to their CrackBerries. Check out how they are both reading their email.
