What's Buzzworthy: Your Favorite Tearjerker Movies

There are many things that make me cry in movies, and some of them are just weird: applause, gospel music, truthful mother-daughter moments, sweet daddy-daughter moments... the list goes on. So for last week's Buzzworthy challenge, I wanted to find out which tearjerker movies you turn to for a good cry.

Like me, you guys seem to get choked up about some strange stuff, but I loved the variety of movies you bookmarked, from classic cry-fests to utter surprises. Here are my favorite Buzzworthy picks from BuzzSugar readers. Thanks for playing!

The Way We Were, bookmarked by JennyJen, who admits that just thinking about the movie could make her cry right now.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, bookmarked by Missyosigirl. This choice puzzled me until I read her explanation: "I don't know why this movie makes me cry... It's just that the realization of how good a relationship starts even though it's currently all f-ed up."

Terms of Endearment, bookmarked by Linda McP. I had to include this one: Not only is it horribly depressing but it's a transcendently good movie.

To see three more good tearjerkers, read more

Poor little Beth is right.

If you're still not sure how to create a BuzzWorthy bookmark, don't worry: TeamSugar makes it easy to bookmark and capture anything on the Web that you consider "Buzzworthy." If you already have a "That's Fab" button on your browser's tool bar, you can use that to bookmark your Buzzworthy items. If you don't have the TeamSugar bookmarking button on your toolbar, you can learn how to get it by watching this video.

Dating: When Does Older Become Grosser?

I saw Woody Allen's latest film this weekend - Whatever Works, meaning do whatever it takes to make you happy, or "filch whatever happiness you can" as Larry David's nihilist character says. For him that means marrying a much, much, so much, younger woman, played by Evan Rachel Wood. Wood is 21. David is 61.

Thankfully, save a shudder-worthy Viagra reference, Allen spares the audience from any sex scenes between the two. But whether it's Larry David's unfalteringly artless performance or Woody Allen's personal baggage left over from marrying his adopted daughter, it never feels right or romantic or even endearing. (Meanwhile, a woman over 40 who dates men younger - but not this much younger! - has her own pejorative term.)

When it comes to dating, how old would you go? Is there a limit, or should we do whatever works?

Cabbage and Your Breasts

Although cabbage is unfortunately associated with the soup diet bearing its name, this leafy veggie is a nutritional powerhouse, and as it turns out, it fights breast cancer too. The American Association for Cancer Research believes it is the phytonutrient sulforaphane found in cabbage that stimulates cells to kill carcinogens. In a Polish study, women who ate cabbage or fermented cabbage in the form of sauerkraut at least four times a week, if not more, were 74 percent less likely to develop breast cancer. If that is not a strong enough reason to add cabbage to your diet, know that it has been found to protect against lung, stomach, and colon cancers as well. High in vitamins K and C, the mineral magnesium, cabbage even a little bit of omega-3 fatty acids. Be sure to eat some coleslaw this Summer, but look for recipes that <ahref="http://www.yumsugar.com/272721">go easy on the mayo.

The connection between cabbage and breasts doesn't end there. To learn more continue reading.

Where Do You Stand? Overusing Pet Names

Run of the mill pet names like babe, honey, or gorgeous are really sweet when they come from the love in your life, but since they are such standard terms of endearment, it's easy to use them with your friends, too.

For example, when a girlfriend of mine was dating her now-ex-boyfriend, he would always refer to her as sweetie, but he referred to her friends as sweetie too! To be honest it creeped me out a bit - if I were her I'd want that nickname to remain sacred between us - but tell me where you stand on the idea of reusing pet names with platonic friends.

Ecoween: Turning Paper Back to Timber

One of the oldest green terms of endearment is "tree hugger." Out here in the Bay Area, we have our fair share of them and they love their trees so much that they're willing to live in them for months in an effort to save the natural wonders.

Use some gifts from Mother Nature along with some recyclable items to craft a costume that pays homage to trees. It's the least we can do to pay them back for all of the beauty they provide.

To see how to create the tree, read more.
List of things you need:

Cardboard box(es)

String or yarn

Hot glue gun

Green and brown paints

Used green bags that grocers carry for herbs

Green or brown paper (White will work as shown above but green would be much better)

Leaves

Brown or green pants

A small doll (not shown above)

Steps to make the tree:

Cut out two pieces of cardboard the size shoulder to knee length.

Paint one side of each piece brown or copper color and allow it to dry.

Hot glue the leaves onto the brown painted cardboard to create a bark effect.

Punch or cut two holes at each shoulder of each cardboard piece.

Fill the herb bags with green construction paper and tie them off to make balloon type bag.

Hot glue the green filled herb bags to the shoulder areas of each board.

Tie strings to one of the boards. Then attach them to the other side so the two boards hang evenly over your tot's shoulders.

For extra effect, you can dress your lil one up in brown pants and a green top.

My model wouldn't allow me to put the finishing touch on without screaming bloody murder, but if you really want to make a statement with the costume, add a doll to your child's shoulder so it looks like you have a tree sitter demonstrating on the tree's behalf.

To read all of our ECOWEEN coverage, click here.

Mothers the world over call their children prince and princess as a term of endearment and entitlement. While the toy stores and costume shops are filled with plastic versions, why not give your child the chance to play their royal part with a beautiful, handmade crown from My Cakies?

These adorable, retro-looking crowns ($35) are made of 100% wool felt and wool felt blend with vintage buttons used to decorate the six designs. Tot friendly for birthday celebrations or everyday dress-up, the cotton-covered elastic back of each crown means that your child can grow from Prince to King.

Where Do You Stand: Men That Refer to You With Pet Names

Calling your significant other by a pet name is a cute term of endearment, but it makes my skin crawl when a guy calls me hot stuff, sweetie, darling, or baby when we're not in a relationship! I'm sure they mean no harm by it, but when they reuse those nicknames with more than one woman at a time, they lose their value and become way too contrived. Of course, this is just my opinion so tell me where you stand on men that aren't your boyfriends calling you pet names. Does it make you feel special or do you find it way too phony and cheesy?
