How To: Cheryl Takes Pride in Her Beautiful British Hairstyle

The red carpet was filled with British beauties last night at the Pride of Britain Awards. Stars like Mel B. and Louise Redknapp showed up in colourful frocks, whilst Cheryl Cole arrived wearing a black corseted minidress and bold red lipstick (a trend we know still remains a fash pack fave). However, it was Cheryl's hair that had me doing a double take. Her curly, low ponytail was chic, sexy, voluminous and different than the other do's everyone else donned.

STEP 1: Begin by washing and conditioning hair with a curl enhancing product like Mark Hill Salon Sexy Curls Shampoo and Conditioner (£4.99 for each).
STEP 2: Next, dry hair with a diffuser. When hair is 85 percent dry, apply a generous amount of Umberto Giannini Shapely Curl Friends Mousse (£4.69) from the roots to ends. Then, part hair to the side and using a two-inch curling iron, curl small sections of hair right up to the roots leaving the tongs in place for at least ten seconds. Secure the section with clips.
STEP 3: Remove the clips and let the curls fall loosely. Take a pinch more mousse and apply it to the roots and mid-lengths of the side that you are going to pull off of your face. Brush it back (not all of the way through as you don't want your curls on the ends to frizz) and secure the section with criss-crossing bobby pins.
STEP 4: Finally, use a clear elastic to hold the ponytail together loosely towards the middle-ends. Lastly, style the front of your hair that isn't pulled back and let a few tendrils fall. Finish with a heavy mist of Andrew Collinge Weightless Volume Thickening Hairspray (£4.20) all over.

The Hills star, Audrina Patridge is revamping both her career and her hair colour. Rumours about her spinning off into her own show (just like Whitney Port did) have been confirmed and perhaps this is what sparked her idea to hit the salon. In the past few months, we've seen her hair go from a dark, almost black to a rich and warm auburn-red. Then yesterday, she arrived in Australia to host the Vodafone MTV Australia Awards with a light brown, honey-coloured highlighted look. Which is your favourite shade on Audrina?

Trend Alert: The Brazilian Glaze

Caramel highlights are all the rage this Summer. They give off the effect that you've spent your holiday basking in the sun, yet they are less maintenance than going blonde. According to expert stylist Simon Hill, the hottest new hair colour look is called the Brazilian glaze.

Just take your cue from the lovely Brazilian ladies like Gisele Bundchen, Ana Beatriz Barros and Alessandra Ambrosio. Their base colour is brown, yet they have those sweet and succulent coveted honey tones that have tonnes of shine and healthy bounce.

Lightening up just a little bit is also much healthier than heavy bleaching. To ensure that hair remains in good condition, Hill always begins with scattered highlights and then adds a toner for shimmer. Last but not least, a deep conditioner is applied followed by heat to maximise the treatment. The result is a sexy, unstructured style that's fresh and modern for Summer.

Stephanie Pratt from The Hills was spotted last night at the Pink Is the New Blog party wearing bright-pink hair extensions. Remember last Summer when Heidi had pink highlights? Sandra Bullock Opens Her Eyes at The Blind Side Premiere

Sandra Bullock gathered her on- and off-screen families together in NYC last night for a screening of The Blind Side. Her husband Jesse James was out showing his support for both Sandra's film and her return to dark hair. Tim McGraw plays Sandra's better half in the movie, and he posed for photos with his own wife Faith Hill. Many of you didn't seem too excited about seeing the screen adaptation of Michael Lewis's novel, but Buzz will be ready with tissues when it hits theaters on Friday.

How-To: Lo Bosworth's Teased Chignon

Yesterday at the Lauren Conrad LA Fashion Show her BFF and new roomie Lo Bosworth (also of The Hills) styled her hair in a chic, teased chignon. The teasing gives height to the crown and sides of her head (which gives symmetry and balance to an oval face). STEP 1: Begin with damp hair. (If your hair hasn't been washed in a day or two, that's even better - just spritz it with water.) Then add about two fist-sized amounts of mousse to your hair and distribute it evenly. Use a large round brush to blow hair dry, directing the hair away from the face.

STEP 2: Tease the crown of your hair in three sections: left front, center, and right front. As you finish each section, spray the back of the hair with hairspray to ensure hold. When you are finished, very gently brush the front of the hair backwards.
STEP 3: Grab all of your hair at the nape of your neck and secure with an elastic (and make sure the elastic is tight).
STEP 4: Twist your ponytail and then wrap it into a bun around the base of the ponytail. Secure with hairpins as you go so that it has support in various locations; this keeps it from unwinding. When you're near the end, fold the ends under the bun, and secure by criss-crossing two hair pins. As a finishing touch, smooth your hands over the bun to loosen any stray hairs. This keeps the style modern, fresh, and not overly "done" - just like Lo's!

Cristophe Beverly Hills is a posh salon that draws the likes of Jessica Biel, Nicole Kidman, and Cameron Diaz. Now the rest of us can afford a piece of the action thanks to Cristophe Beverly Hills Purely Natural, which just launched at CVS.

There's more to this three-piece collection than a fancy salon affiliation, though. None of the products are tested on animals, and all are free of sulfates, parabens, dyes and fragrance. After my last drugstore shampoo debacle, I was nervous about trying the Christophe Purely Natural Daily Shampoo and Purely Natural Conditioner ($5.99 each). Fortunately, I had nothing to worry about-these are both fantastic. The shampoo cleans without drying hair, and the conditioner is awesome. It left my hair soft, smooth, and completely free of weight or residue. And while it might just be a coincidence, I let my hair dry naturally today, yet it has fantastic movement and shine.

Lest you think I am overly enthusiastic, let me relay a story: This weekend, my beau used the shampoo and conditioner. I forgot about it until he e-mailed me. Like that new Cristophe shampoo, he wrote. After I replied to say how happy I am that it's affordable, he replied, Wow. I was convinced that shampoo was like $30.00 or something.

So, don't just trust me. Trust a dude who rarely gets excited about shampoo.

Bella Interview: Cristophe, Hair Stylist

The only thing I love more than a famous hairstylist is a famous hairstylist who makes his hair-care products affordable. Such is the case with Cristophe, who creates some of Hollywood's most famous hairstyles in his Beverly Hills salon. While a cut with him costs hundreds of dollars, his unscented, sulfate- and paraben-free hair-care collection (glowing review here) is well priced and available at CVS. I recently talked with him about his philosophy behind his line, so read on.

Why was it important to you to do a line that doesn’t have any dyes or sulfates or fragrances?
My goal was always to make products that are performance oriented. Obviously the primary objective is to have a product that is good for you; we have these reports now that say things like sulfates are maybe not good for you. So this is really an initial move to see how the consumer reacts to this, if they would rather switch to a more natural product or not.

You can charge hundreds of dollars for haircuts, so why did you decide to do a line that was more affordable?
First of all, I think that fashion is changing tremendously and we are communicating faster, so I think that there is a need for good-quality products. By that I mean if someone is wearing the new eye shadow from Chanel tonight, the rest of the country will hear about it by tomorrow. And most likely, most people have the buying power to do so.

So what I wanted to do was create a line that was competitive, where you could find the products just around the corner. That is why we decided to go to the drugstore because you can find it anywhere. The price is very affordable compared to, say, Kerastase, so pretty much anybody can buy it. But you still have to be willing to embellish a little bit on your hair as opposed to buying a drugstore brand like Pantene, which is essentially cheaper.

Is it true or is it a myth that drugstore shampoo and conditioners like Pantene are going to leave wax and buildup on your hair compared to something that is more formulated for a salon?
Well, I really don’t know about Pantene. All I can tell you is this: It costs me more to manufacture my products than what [drugstore shampoos] are retailing for. And so, if you get the ingredients in a bowl of shampoo, it may be the same - but some of them have 99.9 percent water and .01 percent of the key ingredient. Some other ones are loaded with chalk! So it does depend on the formulas, and the way they are formulated has a big impact on the performance.

Do You Like Whitney Port's Hair Better Straight or Wavy?

Not only does Whitney Port from The Hills have a gorgeous body, a pretty face, and an awesome job, but she also seems totally sincere and sweet. (I really hope that Hollywood doesn't dig its nails into this lady and change her.) If you're in New York this Friday, you can see for yourself: She's going to be at Bloomingdale’s 59th Street from 1–2pm to pose with fans for personalized bottles of Happy.

On top of all of her good qualities, she has long, shiny, blonde, enviable hair. Whitney had wavy hair at the show's finale party, and she had straight hair at the MTV Legally Blonde Pre-Show Musical taping. Which hairstyle do you prefer?
