The Mighty Boosh Bring a Merry Christmas to Stella McCartney

Noel Fielding, Julian Barratt and the rest of The Mighty Boosh cast helped Stella McCartney switch on the Christmas lights at her London store last night! Dressed in drag, Noel and Julian performed songs with the rest of their Boosh band, but - as you can tell - they weren't wearing Stella's clothing line. The woman of the night was, however. Stella stepped out in leggings featuring a lace insert and a satin coat, while Louise Redknapp wore a sparkly body suit that showed onlookers more than they bargained for under the camera lights! Louise was accompanied by her hubby Jamie, and other guests included Stella's sister Mary, and Twiggy.

Are You Looking Forward to The Mighty Boosh Movie?

Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt have announced that they are working on a script for a movie version of The Mighty Boosh! While Noel is currently on our screens as a team captain on Never Mind The Buzzcocks, he's working with Julian on a script and an album for the Boosh gang, that he says will hopefully be released next year. Julian said:

"... we've been doing the show and touring a lot and we've finally got round to writing. We try and do, on TV, quite magical epic journeys and we thought if you're doing a film we should really do it in one room, basically just kind of a sitcom for 90 minutes. So we might do that. We might do exactly what we didn't do on TV."

Who knows what the finished product will actually take the shape of, but I'd love to know if you're looking forward to The Mighty Boosh movie!

Stars Rock Out At The NME Awards

The NME Awards took place last night in London, with stars lining up on the red carpet to attend the show, including Alex Turner, Pete Doherty, Alexa Chung, Carl Barat, Nicola Roberts, Sarah Harding, Dave Berry, Robert Smith, Little Boots, Dizzee Rascal and Noel Fielding. Alexa looked stylish as ever in her black and white outfit and even managed to carry off the painful looking coldsore that she'd been trying to cover at London Fashion Week. Director Tim Burton was also there to award the Godlike Genius award to The Cure and Graham Coxon and Damon Albarn performed together for the first time in nine years- check out all the winners here, and then vote in Fab and Bella's love it or hate it polls!

NME Awards 2009: The Winners!

I'll be updating the winners of all the 2009 NME Awards in this post, so keep your eyes peeled and see if your favourite nominee took home the trophy you wanted them to! Muse beat out Radiohead, Oasis, The Killers and Kings Of Leon to the trophy for Best Live Act, as voted for by NME readers. Oasis have won the Best British Band gong, while Pete Doherty has picked up the Best Solo Act award! Are you pleased with the winners so far? Let me know if you think the winners deserve their awards (or not) in the comments.

MGMT took two awards for Best New Band and Best Song, while the Jonas Brothers were also double winners - taking Worst Band and Worst Album. President Barack Obama was awarded the Hero of the Year award, while George W. Bush was voted the Villian of the Year, for the sixth time in a row! Alexa Chung beat out Alex Turner to win best dressed, and that crazy The Mighty Boosh gang won Best TV Show - check out pictures of some of the winners in the gallery!

Neko Case Talks TV, Movies and Her Dreams

Neko Case is the cover girl on this month's issue of Paste magazine, and she's written an article about her seventeen favourite things. If you aren't familiar with her or her fab music, then check it out here. She includes one of my own fave television shows, beverages, artists, bats and books on her list, but here are a few excerpts from her list:

The Mighty Boosh - Why hasn’t this British comedy show been released in the United States yet?!
Weird Science - My favourite John Hughes movie. Best watched when super-tired. I love the line where Kelly LeBrock is yelling at Wyatt’s grandpa, saying, “You can’t just go around hitting people with your Rex Harrison hat!” And who can forget Chet?
Co-Ed Rock 'N' Roll - Chicks on one side, men on the other = lame. I want my music all-in. I’m not talking about tough-as-hell all-girl bands, just the “women only” camps. They want in your wallet! It’s a gimmick where the joke’s on the ladies. Nine times out of ten it’s a man’s idea anyway-some lawyer, promoter or manager. Let’s just balance it out by adding more ladies to bands with guys. Then, we all win.

Remembering My Dreams - I think this may be my very favourite thing on Earth. I have a lot of dreams where people who’ve passed away call me on the phone. It’s always a grey princess phone. Hmm... A lot of the songs on my record come from dreams-“This Tornado Loves You” and “Prison Girls” both. Once I dreamt I was getting it on with Steve Earle and Madonna. She told me my hair looked like a wig. I had a dream where Jim James from My Morning Jacket and my friend Jocelyne were driving around in a beat up Smart car looking for an elephant that had gotten loose from a local farm. I guess Jocelyne was going to lead the elephant home by his leash out the window. Jim was using only a walkie-talkie to communicate, even to speak to Jocelyne, who was sitting right next to him-in a Smart car! It was awesome. I could go on. But the best dream I’ve had lately was where my grandma called me on the grey princess phone, and I answered it in the middle of a big green pasture. She passed away a year ago, but she was calling to tell me she was feeling much better and wanted me to know she was looking out for me. She said she was travelling through Thailand and having a ball; in fact she had to go so she wouldn’t miss her connection. “Wait!” I said, “Do you have anything else to tell me?” She thought about it for quite a while. She finally answered in a soft and serious tone, “Make sure you have your say.” She said it like she was telling everyone, so I thought I should let you know.

NME Announces Their Award Nominees For 2009!

Last night the NME Awards nominees were announced, where Oasis earned a massive seven nominations, including Best British Band, Best Live Band and Best Album. The categories range from the musical, encompass TV - where PopSugarUK favourites Gavin & Stacey and Skins are up for awards - film, web, venues, style, and then move on to the more fun Hero / Villian Of The Year categories.

Those American teen sensations the Jonas Brothers have also been recognised, with nods in the Worst Band and Worst Album categories in the reader-voted shortlists, but they shouldn't worry too much as they're also alongside Best Band nominee Oasis. What a fickle bunch those NME readers are! The ceremony will take place on February 25 at the Brixton Academy in London, and you can vote for the winners right here - so have your say in the final outcome!

Noel's Sweet New Year's Resolution

Noel Fielding left his hotel in Dublin yesterday, dressed eccentrically in a multicoloured tartan jacket, black leggings and gold boots. He and his Mighty Boosh collaborator Julian Barratt are playing the last few dates of their mammoth live tour, with the whole thing wrapping up in Aberdeen on January 17. The funny pair have also summed up 2008 in a video interview, looking back at various things like Valentine's Day and the credit crunch. He's also been talking new year's resolutions, saying:

"Resolutions are a shocker. I just want to stop buying so many sweets and make my own instead. Rather than Haribo Fantasy Mix, I’d make my own Reality Mix. They’d have things like egg sandwiches, phone bills and Oyster cards in them."

As much as I love Noel's crazy ideas, I'm not sure that one's going to go anywhere!

The Mighty Book Signing

Those men from The Mighty Boosh, Noel Fielding and Julian Barratt, were signing copies of their book in London yesterday. The Mighty Book Of Boosh is a weird and wonderful journey through the caverns of the duo's minds, with stories written by the characters, photos from the set and some fab original artwork by Noel too. The two are also working together on a movie called The Bunny And The Bull, so it looks like we'll get a chance to see a lot more of the comedy duo next year. Don't expect tons of star cameos though, Noel said: "I hate those films where there are just loads of pointless cameos. There'll be some cool people." So, will you be adding a copy of their book to your Christmas list?

Stars Celebrate And Spar At The GQ Awards

After the glamorous arrivals it was time to get down to the nitty gritty of the GQ Men Of The Year Awards and give out the gongs. There were some fab photo opportunities as the stars collided – Dave Grohl and Bobby Gillespie looked like twins with their long hair, Josh Brolin got a kiss on the cheek from Thandie Newton, and a bewildered-looking Boris Johnson received his award from Trinny and Susannah. My favourite, James Corden, received his breakthrough award from Gavin and Stacey co-writer Ruth Jones, and Alfie Allen and Jaime Winstone had their engagement revealed by Alfie's sister Lily who introduced Jamie as "my future sister-in-law". Mysteriously Alfie just said "Well, now you know" in response.

Speaking of Lily, she and Elton John had a bit of a spar at the ceremony, as Lily introduced "the most important part of the night", Elton apparently interjected "What? Are you going to have another drink?" Lily then responded "F*** off Elton, I'm 40 years younger than you and have my whole life ahead of me!" He retorted, "I could still snort you under the table", and Lily replied "F*** off. I don't know what you're talking about." Wow.
