Not even Oscar host Hugh Jackman got to see all the nominated films before Sunday's big night. He even found a pretty hilarious way to work the fact that he hadn't seen The Reader into his opening bit.

The 2009 Oscars took place in LA last night with our fellow Brits taking home a huge number of awards! Slumdog Millionaire was the big winner with eight gold statues including Best Picture and Best Director for Danny Boyle, while Kate Winslet won Best Actress for her role in The Reader — here's what she had to say in the press room following her win! Sean Penn won Best Actor for his role in Milk, beating out Mickey Rourke to the gong, while Penelope Cruz and Heath Ledger won the Best Supporting trophies, with Heath's award being picked up by his family.

What a night! I've just got back from the BAFTA Awards 2009, so — without further ado — here are all the winners! Slumdog Millionaire had a very successful evening, winning seven awards including Best Film and Director for Danny Boyle, Kate Winslet took home the Leading Actress award for her role in The Reader, while Mickey Rourke made a fantastic amusing speech when he picked up the award for Leading Actor.

Kate Winslet waved to her fans earlier today on her way into a photo call for The Reader during the Berlin Film Festival. After posing for pictures, she sat down with her costars for a press conference and then got fancy to hit the premiere alongside Ralph Fiennes. Kate's up for an Oscar for her role in the WWII drama, but she's pragmatic about the odds of winning since she's been nominated five times before but never has won.

As awards season carries on at a great pace, last night the Film Critics' Circle Awards took place in London. It was also a mini Skins reunion as ex-castmates Nick Hoult and Dev Patel posed for some photos together, grinning happily. Dev's movie Slumdog Millionaire carried on its wonderful winning spree, and picked up three awards at the ceremony for best director, screenwriter and Attenborough film of the year.

The nominations for the 81st Academy Awards have just been announced in Hollywood, with The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button heading up the nominees with thirteen nominations!
Slumdog Millionaire matched Doubt with ten nominations each, Kate Winslet has been nominated for Best Actress, and on the anniversary of Heath Ledger's death, he's been awarded a posthumous nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Jonathan Ross will host the Bafta Awards this year, he announced via his Twitter yesterday, and all of the nominations for this year's ceremony have now been released. The ceremony will take place at the Royal Opera House in London on February 8, and Kate Winslet continues her awesome awards season with two nominations in the best actress category, and Slumdog Millionaire has an enormous 11 nominations including Best Actor for lovely Dev Patel! What doesn't kill you, earns you a Best Actress Golden Globe! That is, if you are the incredibly talented Kate Winslet. The star of Revolutionary Road, a must-see for all married moms, also took home the award for best supporting actress for her work in The Reader.

The Golden Globe Awards took place last night, and brought some fantastic success for our British nominees! Kate Winslet won two awards, for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress for movies Revolutionary Road and The Reader. Meanwhile the fabulous Slumdog Millionaire continued its success from the Critics' Choice Awards by winning four Golden Globes including Best Picture (Drama), Sally Hawkins won Best Actress for Happy-Go-Lucky, and Tom Wilkinson picked up a Supporting Actor award for his role in TV series John Adams.
