With all this LBD talk, I figured it would be nice to find a frock that's anything but. This tie-dye rayon dress, size medium-large, is the antithesis of an LBD - not classic, but rather, bohemian and easy-going. Throw it over jeans, wear it as a dress with fun tights, or belt it for a more streamlined look. You can even layer it over a turtleneck if it's chilly out. Your call.

Inspired: Matthew Williamson Tie-Dye Dress

This dress, which FabSugar noted took tie-dye from hippie to hip, is from Matthew Williamson's Spring '08 collection. While tie-dye is nearly synonymous with hippies, the craft of tie dying predates Woodstock by centuries. Some tie-dye techniques and traditions include Japanese Shibori, Indian Bandhani, and African tie-dye. Tie-dye's unique look is accomplished by bundling or tying up the material before applying dye, which only allows the dye to reach part of the area to which it is applied. The boundaries of the dyed and non-dyed areas are usually somewhat blurred.

The Look For Less: Matthew Williamson Tie-Dye Dress

Tie-dye went from hippie to hip in Matthew Williamson's Spring '08 collection. The designer breathed life into his mini dresses by smattering the '70s-defined print in a combination of black and bright pink. Yum! Lucky for those who can't afford Matthew Williamson anything, and are too lazy to create it from scratch, there's a cheaper alternative just waiting to be worn.

Of course, nothing can compare to Matthew Williamson's tie-dye job, but this Asos Unique Boutique Silk Dip Dye Chain Dress ($98) comes pretty close. It has the same tie-dye slash ombre effect and uses a similar pink. If you still crave some black in the mix, throw on black accessories. Now you're good to go with no scruffy hippie in sight!

Simply Fab: Sass & Bide Exclusive Tie Dye Tank Dress

Fashion is targeting breast cancer in a whole new way this time: tie dye. Sass & Bide has lent its exclusive tie dye tank dress ($170), to Net-A-Porter.com as part of the retailer's third installment of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.

Breast cancer is a topic that hits close to home for Sass & Bide co-founder Heidi Middleton, who was diagnosed with it in February 2007. But she and partner Sarah-Jane Clarke were ambassadors for the organization long before that. Actress Michelle Monoghan (left), models the Fall '08 dress, whose proceeds will aid Fashion Targets Breast Cancer Worldwide.

Clean. Precise. Minimal. Three terms Calvin Klein wants you to use when describing its Spring '10 collection. Staying true to the house's less-is-more aesthetic, Francisco Costa has delivered a line of basics with a sexy utilitarian nature. You'll find organic fabrics and most colors of the rainbow: sand, white, and khaki as staples, canary, melon, poppy, fuchsia, turquoise, and cobalt as accents. Drawstring cargos, denim vests, fitted blazers, parkas, denim judo pants, and shirt dresses are all solid. But one print piece stands out as the cool black sheep: a black-and-white, tie-dye dress that's feminine and bold.

Swimsuits are also part of the Spring family - a two-piece in warm gray and a one piece in solid gray or gray Bengal print. The handbags are equally minimal; hobos, totes, and rounded clutches are smooth and unstructured, with gold and silver hardware. Wooden-stacked heels and flat sandals are au naturel and sporty.

Jenny McCarthy and Jim Carrey enjoyed time on the beach on the 4th of July, and while Jim looked pretty good in his woman's bathing suit, she was hotter in her Scoop Beach Smocked Dress ($365). It comes with a rope belt but Jenny opted to remove it for the beach. Unlike many other ombre maxis, this one is silk so it's wearable in dressy situations. I told you dip-dyed maxis were all the rage.

Fab Exclusive! Rachel Roy Talks Fashion Week, Skulls, and Spring Collection For Macy's

Even though she was still recuperating from showing her namesake collection at New York Fashion Week a week prior, Rachel Roy continued to make us swoon with her beautiful brown eyes and fashion talk at the Macy's event. Now that you got the lowdown on Rachel's current collection for Macy's, let's talk about her upcoming Spring collection. We found out tie-dye, florescent colors, and fun prints will be present, along with an array of silky trench dresses. While speaking to her, we couldn't stop ogling the cute trench dress and snazzy, stacked skull bracelets she had on. Read on to hear all about it . . .

I saw your show last week in NYC, it was beautiful.

"Oh you were? Everything is such a blur. I was like whose show - did I have a show?"

I know. Everyone's like "How's Fashion Week?" I'm like, "Uhhhh, still recovering."

"I know, and I hate that because I love fashion and I want to appreciate every single second of it, but it becomes so emotionally draining."

So are you able to actually go to anyone's shows?

"No. I go to friends. Like Sophie Theallet is a dear, dear friend of mine and I love her. So, I went to hers and it was after mine. Also Ralph Rucci, I adore him. I think he just cuts and tailors like no other in America. His show was the day before mine, but I went because I adore him and I give him so much respect. But other than that, really good friends of mine. It can be a lot, so I just went to those two."

So what can we expect for Spring?

"That's a good question. So for Spring, it's just stuff I love. I love tie-dye."

Oooh, California influences!

"Yup, California! So I'm doing tie-dye jersey and tie-dye suede. I also have some florescent colors and prints. I'm a big print girl and I love mixing prints in an odd way."

Is the trench dress you have on from the collection?

"Yes, this will be available in Spring and will come in black and in khaki."

And I have to ask, who is this jewelry by with the little skulls?

"This is all me. It's available in November. This [skull] was my muse for jewelry. So I put him on everything. And you know how people say the evil eye brings good luck? I wanted to kind of change the idea that skulls aren't bringing you bad luck. Here, they're giving you good luck."

Yeah, like with the Day of the Dead.

"I really like that. It's my way of bringing good energy, ancient spirits. I don't want to put too much heavy stuff on these kids, but it's my little way of bringing them what I can."

Also, skulls are just cool.

"They can take it that way - I'll just go levitate over there (laughs)."

2010 Spring New York Fashion Week: Proenza Schouler

A self-proclaimed mermaid, I drowned in Proenza Schouler's aquatic chic Spring collection. It wasn't evident right away - leather and bondage shirt dresses and jackets opened. And then, like a flurry of fish, tiered and ruffled frocks in teals, turquoise, and acid green stole the scene. Seaweed sequins in purple and emerald, and even some feathers, trimmed asymmetrical hems. Then the prints - tie dye, stone wash, water ripples, mana ray - on frilly skirts and perfect shifts. Dramatic wedges were scuba fantastic, sunnies were bold and reflective, bags were eclectic. The babydoll was reinvented in a strappy, sassy bralette style. Washed up, sometimes green, beachy hair, completed the marine melody. Lastly, three Traina's were in attendance - longtime PS supporters. Soak, it, up.
