Tights For Boys: Ga Ga or Gag?

Mommies wouldn't balk at the sight of tights in the girls' section but what if she saw them hanging near the boxers and briefs? Ladies enjoy the comfort and warmth they provide so why shouldn't their male counterparts? In the Victorian era, men wore tights regularly just like their lady friends. Perhaps in an effort to bring a blast from the past, the Swedish clothes manufacturer H&M is bringing tights back in a whole new way.

The $12 pair of navy car adorned stockings may have some mums and pops looking confused or horrified. Still some may find them practical and brilliant.

I've heard friends say they're one of those things that are fun in theory, but dicey in reality. And don't plain black tights seem so . . . boring? Exhibit A: Diane Kruger at the ELLE Women in Hollywood awards. Even though her Balenciaga dress had a marbelized print, she opted for Swiss dot hose and a hot pink clutch. Sometimes more is more, and that means you shouldn't hesitate to whip out those striped, dotted, or zigzag tights you've been jonesing to wear. Patterned tights add depth, texture, and spunk to any ensemble.

Style for Style: House of Holland Tights

One of the things I admire about Henry Holland is that his collections always have a theme. He blatantly dedicates an entire range to one central point and runs wild with it. Who can forget the tartan of Autumn '08, the florals of Spring '09 or the pantone colour blocking of Autumn '09? It's the latter which has inspired this collaboration with Pretty Polly tights. It's an obvious move for House of Holland, which has previously joined forces with Levis and Kickers. When I heard about this latest venture, I couldn't wait to get my hands on a pair and they did not dissapoint!

The colour block legwear are available in a range of colours including black, blue and lilac all retailing for £10 each. They will be available from John Lewis, Debenhams and River Island from September. The lilac pair were very attention grabbing so I tried to keep everything else simple teaming them with black and grey, and I was pleasantly surprised by how easy they were to dress up. I particularly loved them with denim shorts which created a cool daytime look. I think they look best with heels, but a flat ankle boot would work too.

Gogosushi cuts down on her shopping costs by making her own clothes - now that's talent! The seamstress showed off her pink passion today wearing a bright DIY bandage skirt. For maximum contrast, she paired it with black tights, matching leather hoodie, and screen-print tee. In fact, it reminds me of something Taylor Momsen would wear. Rock out girl.

Freaky or Fabulous? Bottomless Tights

American Apparel have always been a fan of pushing boundaries. This year alone there has been a completely sheer dress and a very risqué ad campaign, but now they have produced their raciest item to date – bottomless tights! Nope, I don't mean leggings, I mean hosiery that reveals your derriere! Try as I might, I can't see any practical benefit to this style and surely this is a case of less is more?
