SPF Beauty Bonanza, Part II: Tinted Moisturizers

Last Summer, we featured scores of SPF-enhanced tinted moisturizers, and a year later there's a new gaggle of goodies to explore! What I love about tinted moisturizers is that they serve three purposes. They simplify your prep time, since they act as a foundation and a moisturizer; they offer SPF so now you don't have to apply (or worry about) sun protection; and they help even out your skin tone. Below are three SPF tinted moisturizers that I'll think you'll fall madly in love with this Summer.

Just a few weeks ago Chanel launched Hydramax + Active Tinted Lotion SPF 15 ($55), a great alternative to wearing foundation in the heat of the Summer sun. It contains UVA and UVB protection while providing even coverage, a non-greasy feel and a healthy, radiant, almost dewy finish on my skin. I use #15 Sunlit (the medium shade out of the three) and not only do I find it moisturizing and extremely blendable, but I also really like the sweet scent.

La Mer has created The SPF 18 Fluid Tint ($65) in three shades of light, medium, and dark. It's moisturizing, it absorbs quickly, the formula is water-based so it's not oily whatsoever, it contains UVA and UVB protection, plus it's made with crushed gemstones (tourmaline and Brazilian malachite), so it helps give skin a radiant glow.

Stila Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 ($32) is an SPF-enriched moisturizer that feels light yet nourishing on your face. All 10 of the colors are sheer, they blend flawlessly without streaking, and they leave you with an illuminated finish.

New Product Alert: Balm Shelter Tinted Moisturizer

New from The Balm is the San Francisco brand's latest and greatest product, called Balm Shelter SPF 18. This unbelievably weightless tinted moisturizer has an active ingredient called avobenzone, which helps protect skin from sun damage by absorbing both UVA and UVB rays.

Although this ingredient is not oil-free, it is non-comedogenic, which means that even though it contains oil, it won't clog your pores. See, you thought Bella was all fluff, but you guys are constantly adding new lingo to your vocabulary.

I learned all about this moisturizer last week during my afternoon lunch with The Balm's CEO, Marissa Shipman. Balm Shelter will be available in three shades - light, light/medium, and medium - and is set to hit stores within the next couple of weeks.

Tinted moisturizers with SPF are all the rage. You guys are always writing in and asking me if I think they really work and my answer is that I think they do! That's why these are great! Dior Bronze Tinted Moisturizer SPF 10, $35, is a quick and easy way to apply sunscreen and add a little bit of warmth to your Spring skin. This tinted moisturizer is a cream gel that keeps skin hydrated for up to 24 hours.

It is currently only available online for purchase, but will be hitting Dior beauty counters nationwide by the beginning of April in three shades: Blond, Peach and Golden.

Paula Dorf Face Tint SPF 15, $18, is a lightweight, tinted face cream that provides natural looking sheer coverage to your face that can be used in place of a powder or a liquid foundation.

It contains SPF 15 to help protect your precious skin from environmental and sun damage and is gentle, paba-free and dermatologist tested. Available in three shades.

Sorry gals, I am on a Laura Mercier kick. I love her stuff, and I've just spent quite some time at Sephora (which carries her now). This is actually a fairly old product of hers called Laura Mercier's Tinted Moisturizer, $40, but it's a goodie! This tinted face moisturizer has the highest SPF out of any of the others that I've featured. It's a really smooth moisturizer that hydrates your skin and adds a little bit of color to your face too.

Simply wash your face and apply all over for a satiny finish that will leave your skin evenly toned and feeling healthy. This month it won InStyle's Best of Beauty Buys so as you can see - I am not the only fan. Available in seven shades.

Marvelous Tinted Moisturizers With SPF, Part I

Tinted moisturizers are fantastic because not only do they hydrate your skin but they also cover your flaws. They are lighter and more sheer than a liquid foundation, yet they still provide enough coverage to create a beautiful canvas and even out your skin tone.

Du Wop Revolotion Face, $29, is a super lightweight moisturizer that absorbs naturally into your skin to create a flawless matte finish. It includes SPF 15 as well as light reflecting pigments to add radiance to your complexion.

It helps to eliminate redness and it won't cake into the fine lines on your face to make you look older and wrinkly. Celebrity fans include: Eva Longoria, Cindy Crawford and Hilary Duff. If it's good enough for these beauties, it's good enough for me. Available in eight shades.

What's awesome about this product is that it helps prevent lines on your face even before they appear with its secret ingredient called active response anti-oxidant system. Also it goes on clear and the tint magically appears as you blend.

Sonia Kashuk Tinted Moisturizer, $11.99, provides your face with ultra sheer color for coverage, sun screen for protection, and a vitamin complex for nourishment and hydration. It is also formulated with teensy light reflectors to help disguise fine lines and wrinkles. Available in three shades.
