Trampoline Workout on Steroids

I took gymnastics like many young girls, and while I loved playing with the white powder by the uneven bars, my favorite part of class was jumping on the trampoline. Who knew I could have made a career out of it! Check out this video of a strong and fearless acrobat practicing his Cirque du Soleil act that involves bouncing off walls and doing flips from one trampoline to another. Amazing.

Get it Up, Your Heart Rate That Is: Mini-Trampoline

I am sure you have all seen mini-trampolines at the gym, but how many of you have ever hopped on one for a workout? Mini-trampolines are not only cute and compact, but they're also a great source for a little exercise variety.

I like to structure a mini-trampoline workout similar to how I would work with a jump rope.

1. 00:00-05:00 Warm-up, jump slowly using both feet
2. 05:00-10:00 Jump on both feet
3. 10:00-12:00 Jump using right foot only
4. 12:00-14:00 Jump using left foot only
5. 14:00-15:00 Jump slowly using both feet

Repeat steps 2-5 three times. If three repetitions is two times too many, start with just doing one complete set and work your way up to the full 30 minutes. Cool-down with your choice of activity for 5-10 minutes. You can buy a mini-trampoline (like the one pictured above) for $29.99 at FogDog.com.

Fit's Tip: Two things. First, don't do this if you have a headache or if you feel one coming on, jumping can really make the pain worse. Second, I prefer to do routines on the mini-trampoline in front of a TV (or mirror), since the repetitive nature of jumping up and down can get really boring after just a few minutes.

Ahhh, the pure joy of jumpin' around on a trampoline! This doggie's loving the trampoline almost as much as I love lying in bed, reading trashy magazines and drinking coffee on my day off. Sweeeeet. Hope you guys are chillaxin', too!

Cool Idea: Trampoline Tent

My brother and sister and I did a fair amount of backyard camping when we were kids, but if we'd had one of these trampoline tents, it would've been impossible for our parents to get us in the house.

This tent fixture ($250, plus delivery from the UK) clips onto the edge of a circular trampoline, converting it into a tent or backyard playhouse for kids. It features four windows and two zip-up doors, and comes with a waterproof fly sheet. Do you know any kids who'd dig this?

My friend was feeling silly, so for her birthday, she invited us all to go jumping. Jumping? Yes. We went jumping on huge trampoline floors and walls at Sky High Sports. I obviously needed to be comfortable, but I also wanted to look as cute as possible.
