Recently, I made my yearly - OK, it's been more than a year - trip to the eye doctor. I've worn glasses for about 14 years now, and from one "trendy" frame to another, I've had lots of different looks. Since some were good, and others I'd prefer to forget, that was the inspiration behind this series of posts on choosing eyeglass frames. Since we've already looked at face shape, eye color, and skin tone, for the final installment of this series, let's look at how your hair color can help guide you when making a choice between those funky green shades or whimsical yellow specs. What's the Corniest Salon Name You've Heard?

Salons often come up with punny names. In Minneapolis, it's Curl Up and Dye. In my hometown, it was The Clipper Ship. And in Rancho Cucamonga, CA, there's Hair A Juku - a seemingly intentional, if mispronounced, allusion to Tokyo's trendy Harajuku district. While I genuinely love a good pun, some of these (The Mane Event!) are just terrible. What's the corniest salon name you've ever encountered?

Back in the late 1970s and early 1980s, Studio 54 was the place to be. During its heyday, the Manhattan discothèque was notorious for its jet-setting crowd of celebrities and socialites, and among other things, its reputation for drugs and illicit sexual liaisons among some of those in attendance. All hedonism aside, it was also an era where fluffy hair, lots of makeup, and sparkled accessories reigned supreme. My little cousins are visiting from LA and are dying to go to the amusement park Great America. So, Fab's going to Great America. I haven't been to an amusement park in years, so I need help finding an appropriate outfit. Overall, I want to look youthful but not silly.

I figure this Free People Metallic Bow Hair Tie ($10) will keep my hair in place and give me a youthful flair. Since it's trendy, let's keep my outfit on the subtler side.

Reality star Whitney Port is known for her likable personality and sense of fashion. She, was, after all an "employee" of Diane von Furstenberg's design house, and has been rumored to be back with Kelly Cutrone at People's Revolution. On the beauty front, she's also known for her eye-catching looks, from her wrapped ponytail to her trendy multitoned hair color. As you know, I'm a proponent of makeup shade experimentation, and over the weekend while attending a Swim Show Afterparty in Miami, Whitney pulled out all the stops, wearing this bright, punchy coral-pink hue. While it appears that she prefers to keep her shade choices in the same color family, she plays around with the intensities and finishes. So tell me - which pretty-in-pink shade works best for this city girl?

What's Your "Something Blue"?

In April, I mentioned that my friends Liz and Dave would be tying the knot in Boston. I'm happy to report that the ceremony and reception went off without a hitch, and the newlyweds are off on their honeymoon. The bride already knew how she'd be wearing her makeup, and her hair was styled in a classic looped bun. As for her nails? She opted for a neutral polish on her fingers, and cleverly in keeping with the traditional, "something borrowed, something blue" theme, she wore a beautiful steely blue shade on her toes.

While she could have opted for a lovely blue shadow or nail polish on her fingers, I have to admit that I was a huge fan of her pedicure choice. Model Agyness Deyn recently wore some bright royal blue polish to complement her funky style, but for a wedding, a more muted version is a great option. Plus, by keeping the more adventurous shade slightly hidden, Liz was able to mix trendy with the traditional and subtle with the bold. Check out my widget for some inspiration.

Would You Say "I Do" to a Pop-Up Wedding?

Who doesn't love pop-up books? Or Pop-Up Video? So why not a pop-up wedding chapel? In the spirit of pop-up retail, wherein trendy stores materialize for a matter of days or weeks then vanish, an event space in Brooklyn called 303Grand is turning itself into a wedding emporium for a limited time only.

Starting June 1, the "experiential wedding showcase" will feature different weekly themes, including stationery and gifts the first week and dresses, makeup and hair the second. Then, on June 25, 303Grand will turn into a full-fledged wedding chapel for a week, hosting ceremonies for 10 couples. (Two couples will win a wedding and honeymoon free of charge.)

Given, you'd have to turn on a dime with your wedding planning, but this could be a very cute venue to tie the knot. Would you have your wedding in a pop-up chapel? What if you could get hitched and honeymoon for free?

2009 BAFTA TV Awards: Mischa Barton

The gorgeous (and brunette) Mischa Barton looks lovely tonight on the red carpet in a navy and gold-embellished dress and long, loosely curled hair. I love her trendy and heavy fringe and the way that her face and lips are polished, yet neutral in comparison to her smoky eyes. What do you think of tonight's makeup look on Mischa?
