Rihanna Leads the Way With Amazing Women For Glamour

Rihanna stole the show in her dramatic white dress as she and her fellow honorees took the red carpet at last night's Glamour Women of the Year celebration in NYC. Carnegie Hall was brimming with beautiful ladies from Iman to Maria Shriver and Diane von Furstenberg. Catherine Zeta-Jones stood out in blue and had Michael Douglas by her side for support. Rih was just one of a handful of women who were chosen by the magazine, but all eyes were on her - and most of you are loving the look, just the latest in her fashion metamorphosis!

Padma Lakshmi showed off her growing baby bump while one of the evening's honorees Stella McCartney smiled big with her award up on stage where she also had some trouble with her super short skirt. Amy Poehler and Michelle Obama were two of the magazine's other women of the year, though the First Lady didn't attend the event since she was with her husband President Barack Obama visiting with families at Fort Hood. The night was full of inspirational and important females who spoke and mingled, celebrating each other and Glamour's picks. Rihanna has come out strong opening up about her difficult year and what all this means to her – check out Rih's heartfelt speech after the jump.

Rihanna and Stella Join Fellow Women of Year

Glamour Magazine's Women of the Year gathered at Carnegie Hall in New York City yesterday to celebrate each other's successes. Rihanna and Stella McCartney were amongst those honoured, and were joined by Estelle, who performed on stage. Amy Poehler and Serena Williams collected their awards, while Catherine Zeta-Jones was one of the presenters. FabUK wants to know who do you think was best dressed? Tyra Gets a Nutritionist to Get Her Shape in Shape

You may already know that Tyra's made a lifestyle change, thanks to a little healthy competition with her girlfriends that began last January. While being more active and committing herself to regular cardio sessions certainly helped her tone up, an episode of Tyra's show this week reveals that her slim-down is in large part due to working with a nutritionist and drastically changing her eating habits. With recent studies debating that weight loss has less to do with exercise, and is more about food, Tyra's revelation seems a timely bit of healthy advice.

Overall, I'm totally impressed with Tyra's take on getting fit - proclaiming the episode "Get Your Shape in Shape," she emphasizes the focus on individual body type, rather than on being skinny, and offers constructive tips for shaping up your shape - like making a decision to get healthy for yourself and keeping a food journal to monitor what you're eating.

A true believer in the power of food, Tyra also claims that new eating habits put and end to her "stomach attacks," which she suffered from since she was 10, and reveals that her weight loss is 80 percent attributable to diet and 20 percent attributable to exercise - she didn't even hire a personal trainer. These exciting pics from season three of the show couldn't come at a better time, as the first episode of the new series starts tonight on ITV2 at 8pm! Nicole, Naomi, and Jessica Are Women Dining For Women

Nicole Kidman and her pal Naomi Watts were together last night in NYC for the "Important Dinner for Women" at Cipriani's. They were joined by famous faces like Wendi Murdoch and Liya Kebede for the event, which followed a day of meetings at the UN about issues affecting women of the world. The meal was hosted by Queen Rania of Jordan, who mingled with other celebs like Jessica Alba, Naomi Campbell, and Veronica Webb. The ladies' charitable work isn't the only important event going on in the Big Apple presently - Matt Damon joined Bill Clinton at the former president's conference, where Brad Pitt is expected later today.

Tyra Talks About Going Raw With Her Hair

While we wait with bated breath for tonight's ANTM campfest, here's another Tyra-based diversion. On last night's Larry King Live, Ms. Banks talked more about her decision to show off her natural hair on her show. (That hairy video is here.) According to Tyra, she wanted to show off her natural hair in a "raw" way:

I've worn weaves and wigs and pieces and clip-ons and clip-outs and clip-downs and around since I was 17, 18, and I wanted to show the real me. I wanted to show the raw me, and I just got out of the shower . . . and then came out of here - on this stage, and this is me. This is me. . . . Hair for black women, we spend $9 billion a year on hair products. So growing up as a young girl and seeing images in the media where they're saying that a certain type of hair is beautiful and yours isn't is very difficult for a black woman. It's a long, political thing that we can do a whole show about.

So will she do a show? That remains to be seen. And as some readers have pointed out, it's a bit incongruous to promote the "accept your natural self" message while rarely featuring natural hair in the Top Model makeovers. Do you think Tyra's choice to show off her natural hair is helpful, or does her other weave-heavy show send a mixed message?

SATC Helped Tyra Banks Shape Up

What began as a three-month fitness challenge among friends last January turned into a new lifestyle for Tyra Banks.

Once she began tracking calories, Tyra bought an elliptical machine to amp up her exercise. She explained her cardio regimen on her show recently like this:

I didn't work out like crazy, [but] I would exercise. I actually bought a treadmill and elliptical. I got rid of one of my couches in my living room and I watched Sex and the City episodes on the elliptical and treadmill. So Sex and the City lasted 30 minutes and that's how long I was on the elliptical.

Tyra also mentioned that her modeling career changed as her metabolism slowed. To hear why, read more.

Working out doesn't come naturally to Tyra, she had to train herself to get off the couch - just like most of us. She didn't exercise while modeling and just relied on her metabolism. So when it changed, she moved on. She says,

My career as model changed because my metabolism changed. I didn't do Victoria's Secret because I wanted to. I did Victoria's Secret because my ass was getting big and I couldn't fit in Armani runway anymore.

I'd say that career move paid off, wouldn't you?
