By now you must have heard that Starbucks is closing 600 of its stateside coffee shops. Last week Starbucks released the official list of the closing stores with a grand total of 616 closures. The closing stores are company-operated stand alone locations; no bookstore, super market, or airport Starbucks will be shuttered.

If you're in Florida this weekend, you might want to check out The Makeup Show Miami, a two-day event featuring all the makeup know-how you could imagine. I recently talked with lead makeup artist James Vincent, who created a beautiful face for the event. He has worked with celebrities including Liv Tyler and Jordin Sparks (pictured), he's created looks for designers such as Christopher Deane, and he even created his own makeup line, Pretty Pretty.

Maybe you've heard of the "beauty bedding" hype before: Aromatherapy mattress to soothe the senses, contoured anti-wrinkle pillows that decrease compression, aloe vera blankets that moisturize, and even seaweed-lined mattresses that supposedly refresh the skin. The latest craze? Copper-infused pillowcases that claim to reduce wrinkles, bacteria, and dust mites.

On Sunday Matt Damon vowed to give his all to Obama in the last days before the election, and he kept true to his word, stopping by the campaign headquarters in Hollywood, FL and then over to the University of Miami yesterday. The crowd, including Luciana and newborn Gia, looked more than happy to see Matt's big grin and he was kind enough to pose for photo ops — some with ladies sporting their expecting bellies. Matt isn't the only celebrity spending time down south — Elisabeth Hasselbeck is busy campaigning for Palin and the "sexist" wardrobe issue.

Australia has taken over as the most obese country, but the US isn't far behind and we have dwindling savings accounts to go along with our gluttonous reputation. Slate writer Rob Cyran asks whether the two are related and brings up some interesting points to support his hypothesis.
