Here's Helena Bonham Carter at the London premiere of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. She's sporting a deconstructed updo, with ribbons intermixed with her wild curls. I don't think everyone could pull off this unconventional look, but I think it fits Helena's quirky personality well (and it makes me think of Hamlet's Ophelia).

Faking a shorter haircut by means of skillfully placed hair pins is nothing new. In fact, we saw Rosario Dawson do her own faux-crop late last year, followed by Nicole Kidman's asymmetric version. In recent times, the look has taken on resurgence in popularity, as celebrities have been tricking us out with their own adaptations, giving the appearance of freshly cut locks.

Kristen Bell's red carpet appearances are almost always practically flawless, and at last night's premiere of Couples Retreat in LA, the actress dazzled once again. This time, it was her loose and wavy braided updo that had heads turning. To copy the look at home, you'll need just a few basic items and a little creativity:
Part your hair to the side and section off the front of your hair from the back.

All of the nominees who chose to walk tonight's BAFTA Awards red carpet wearing their hair up came out on top. About halfway through the glamorous coverage, the skies opened up and the rains came pouring down. Luckily, umbrellas and willing assisants were there to shield the dresses, tuxedo's and all of the hard work of makeup artists and hair dressers.

Over the Memorial Day weekend, Prince Joachim wed Miss Marie Cavallier in a white wedding in Copenhagen, Denmark. The princess bride wore her hair off of her face and neck in a delicate updo. Her curled and pinned hair extensions were secured in the back, and the look was topped off with an elaborate tiara.

Last night at the 2009 Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles, the red carpet was filled with celebrities from television and film. In true Hollywood tradition, all of the women arrived dressed to the nines in ball-gowns and baubles from big name designers and everyone's hair and makeup was flawless.
Some of my favourite beauties were January Jones who looked slightly 70's with her loose waves and gold eye shadow, and Freida Pinto whose soft, smoky makeup enhanced her creamy caramel skin.

Last night at the Benjamin Button premiere in Berlin, Angelina Jolie walked the red carpet looking mature and demure with Brad on her arm. Covered from head to toe in cream, her hair was upswept and asymmetrical. One side was pulled back and pinned into a twist whilst the other side was bouffant and fitted in a loose wave.

The Golden Globes red carpet was filled with so many different beauty looks ranging from tomato stained lips, to loose waves, undone makeup and pink lips, however, the most prominent trend was slick, wet looking updo's. Kate Beckinsale even liked her hair so much from the Critics' Choice Awards that she even gave us a repeat performance. Others like Heidi Klum, Jennifer Lopez, Salma Hayek, Megan Fox, and Anna Paquin consistently change their hair, so this style was interesting and fresh.

Last night, pretend New York socialite Leighton Meetster and fellow Gossip Girl star, Jessica Szohr joined real life New York socialite Olivia Polermo at the 60th anniversary soirée for Longchamp. I can imagine just how sweltering the big apple can be in the Summertime, but these lovely ladies have managed to mask any evidence of debilitating heat and humidity.
They arrived to the Upper East Side wearing minimal makeup and casual updos with their long, layered bangs lying just below their jawline to frame their face.
