Valentina Pinault carried a makeshift glove balloon yesterday as she got a lift to the car from mom Salma Hayek. The girls kept it causal in denim, though, Salma turned a few heads with a short, colorful and sassy dress at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty Sunday night. This time of year the actress often finds herself front row during Paris Fashion Week, but she's hanging stateside supporting best friend Penelope Cruz at the Academy Awards while celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Kate Moss take over attending all the French shows.

The Oscar nominated actress isn't up for any awards this year, but she's still getting in the award season spirit attending a pre-party at the Chateau Marmont last week and is one of the host of tonight's annual Global Green bash. Salma Hayek spent her Saturday shopping around LA with her daughter Valentina and husband Francois-Henri Pinault. It was a big weekend for their family, as yesterday marked one year since Salma and Francois-Henri tied the knot in a low-key ceremony. The couple eventually had a large party for all their friends like Penelope Cruz and Charlize Theron when they threw a masquerade bash last April in Venice. Salma spent their big day, which also happens to be Valentine's Day, hard at work for a photo shoot, but little Valentina came along for company.

Salma Ends a Long Shopping Day With Ice Cream and Valentina

Salma Hayek lead the way yesterday when she hit The Grove in LA with her mom Diana and daughter Valentina. The Hayek girls are together at home in LA, after Valentina arrived at LAX with her father Francois-Henri Pinault on Sunday. Francois-Henri's daughter Mathide was also along for the afternoon of shopping the post-Christmas sales, and it looked like the ladies made a purchase at the ice cream store. Salma didn't pick up a cone for herself, but she might have been in the market for a different kind of treat after her day of browsing.

Philanthropy Runs in the Family For Salma and Francois-Henri

Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault were together in Rennes, France on Saturday for an event with one of their favorite soccer teams. The couple, who are known to enthusiastically enjoy taking in matches together, linked up with the Leukodystrophy Association to kick off a campaign that raises money for degenerative brain diseases. Salma and Francois-Henri brought along Valentina for the afternoon, and their daughter even modeled one of the charity's t-shirts for children. It's great to see the Pinaults getting involved in a good cause this holiday season, encouraging philanthropy when some families need it the most.

Salma Is Bringing Out Her Vampire Just in Time For Halloween

Salma Hayek and a member of her entourage took turns holding Valentina in NYC last night. The newly two-year-old was casual in pink while mom managed to look ready for Halloween in her sharp orange and black without going over the top. This time she skipped the teetering high heels to navigate the city streets with her daughter. Her new movie Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant comes out in two weeks, right in the midst of the undead craze, which earned it a place in our PopSugar Rush Vampire special. Salma herself also got a shout out for her classic and sexy turn as a bloodsucker in From Dusk Til Dawn.

Salma Hayek Doesn't Let Valentina Cry It Out

Compassionate mama Salma Hayek, who made headlines when she breastfed a sick and starving baby, passed on a motherly tip this morning on the Rachel Ray Show. When asked about the best advice she was given in raising her 1-year-old daughter, Valentina Pinault, the actress passed on words of wisdom from her own mother. She said:

Everybody tells you what to do and everybody contradicts each other and it drives you mad. Put her in the bassinet or the cradle to sleep. Stick her in there, let her cry. Everybody was telling me this, but I wasn't doing it. She (my mother) said to me always put your baby to sleep because one day you are going to wish you could do that - that you could hold her in your arms and put her to sleep. You know, I put my baby to sleep every night and I love that moment even though sometimes it takes hours. But I do enjoy it very, very much.
