Trend Alert: Makin' Waves At The 2009 MTV Movie Awards
On Sunday night, Hollywood's 'it' girls dazzled in stylish, on-trend outfits and amazing hair and makeup. After looking at all of the photos from the event, I noticed that most of the women wore their hair parted in the centre with loose waves — a look that's been a red carpet staple for the past few years. Whilst Lauren Conrad added in her own special plait and Vanessa Hudgens had heavy fringe, overall, the hairstyle is our modern, undone version of 1940's structured waves and carefully crafted pin curls.
Trend Alert: The Low-Slung Plait
Plaits are a casual way to make hair look chic and polished when it's unruly, dirty or just not co-operating. It's been a favourite style of the bohemian culture for ages and the fishtail plait has even become quite fashion forward. In the last week alone, we've seen Blake Lively filming season three of Gossip Girl sporting a low-slung plait, Julia Styles was spotted strolling around Soho in New York City and Rumer Willis dressed up her fishtail at the Teen Choice Awards.

Last night's Teen Choice Awards brought many lovely ladies onto the grass carpet. Short and sweet was the theme of the evening, with most of the stars choosing something perfect for the hot Summer day. Britney Spears and Fergie opted for embellished LBDs, while Kim Kardashian showed off her new hair color in a white number.

While Kristen Stewart was tending to her hair yesterday, Ashley Greene was getting some fresh air walking her dog again. Peter Facinelli, meanwhile, spent more time sight-seeing with Jennie and their girls Luca, Lola, and Fiona.

Here we have Vanessa Hudgens with a slight variation on her signature look of deep, smoky eyes and long, flowing locks. This time around it's all about blue makeup accents on the lash lines and lids, along with an icy blue shimmer on the inner-v. Also somewhat different?

2009 Teen Choice Awards: Arrivals and Winners!
The 2009 Teen Choice Awards took place yesterday in LA, with all the stars of the past year's charts, movies and TV shows turning up to be awarded by teens. The show is yet to air in both the US and UK, but Twilight took home a whole host of awards (check out the winners list under the cut for spoilers) as did Gossip Girl and the Jonas Brothers. Kristen Stewart looked like she was taking tips from Robert Pattinson with her big hair, and wore a seriously cool spiky skirt, while Leighton looked sexy in stripes!
