Geek Tip: Control Your Computer From Anywhere With an App

There have been those times where I really needed some info off of my home computer but am nowhere near it to access it. Now with my iPhone and a spare $25 for an app, I can! The app is called Jaadu and like a magic wand, it allows you to access your home computer from anywhere in the world. An easy setup lets you control your mouse on your Mac, Windows, or Linux home system, and modifier menus let you control up/down/left/right arrows for easy navigation. Plus, there's a cheaper version that comes with less features, so if you just need to peep a few files, $1 should get you there.

New Charlie's Angels TV Show Planned on ABC

Word is that ABC is close to finalizing a deal to bring another version of Charlie's Angels to TV.

This new series would be a "modern version" of the '70s hit, and yes, I know you're thinking that we already got a modern version with the 2000 movie Charlie's Angels and its sequel. Interestingly, Drew Barrymore is involved in this new series somehow (I'm guessing production), as is Leonard Goldberg who produced the original series. Josh Friedman (of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles) will write and exec produce.

Whether or not you think it's a great idea to remake, it would provide plum prime time roles for three actresses. If you had your pick, who would you cast in this new series? I hear Mischa Barton and Ashlee Simpson need new gigs. I'm kidding, but what are your ideas?

Brad Pitt Enters the Dark Void

Introducing Brad Pitt, computer game star: the actor's production company Plan B has signed off on a deal with Capcom to adapt the game Dark Void for the big screen with Pitt as the lead. Void follows a pilot who crashes in the Bermuda Triangle and finds himself in an alternate universe fighting off aliens intent on taking over the human race.

This seems more like Will Smith territory to me - I immediately think of something along the lines of I, Robot or I Am Legend. Even so, I welcome the chance to see Pitt in a sci-fi action movie, and this storyline sounds tailor-made for the blockbuster treatment.

What do you think about Pitt as a gaming hero?

New Lily Allen Video - "Smile" (Simlish Version)

Well what do you know, a day after my best friend convinces me we have to go to a Lily Allen concert when she comes to San Francisco, I find out she's way geekier than I thought. Joining the ranks of Teen pop queens Aly and AJ, Allen has recorded her hit song "Smile" in Simlish.

Southern Side: Creamed Collard Greens

I'm a little sick of the traditional Thanksgiving meal. That's why this year I plan on serving slightly different versions of old favorites - like a turkey roulade instead of a whole roasted turkey, for instance.

Rather than the usual green bean casserole, I'm reaching for a neo-Southern riff on the creamed spinach standby, and plan on impressing guests with creamed collard greens. Unlike creamed spinach, this vegetable side isn't swimming in heavy cream; the cream adds subtle body, while smoky bacon rounds out the collards' bitter character.

But the pièce de résistance is really the crispy, cheesy crumb topping. Be sure to make a generous amount, because the more, the better. Add a new tradition to your meal when you keep reading

Healthy App: iPractice

I heart my iPhone because there are so many awesome apps to inspire healthy living, from iTreadmill to Slim Down Shopping List. Here's a new app from Yoga Journal called iPractice. It contains 15 yoga sequences all in the palm of your hand. The mini-classes are designed for different needs - some uplift your spirit, some calm your mind.

Once you pick the sequence, you can look at each individual pose on its own, or play the sequence in a slideshow format. A nice feature is that you can choose to have audio instruction walk you through the sequence, so you feel like you're in a class. There's also music to go along with the sequence, but I thought the dreamy tunes made it hard to hear the person talking. If you just want to hear the relaxing melodies, you can also turn the audio instruction off, and since there's text underneath each pose, you can follow along on your own. The photos of the poses were clear and colorful, and the sequences included a mix of both simple and challenging poses.

Who Wore It Better? H&M Multicolored Sweater Dress

One multicolored H&M sweater dress, two completely different ways. Rihanna opted for an eccentric version, wearing it with a Louis Vuitton fanny pack, chunky combat boots, and a chain necklace. Alternately, Katy wore her sweater dress in a womanly way, with high-heeled over-the-knee boots, a double-strap belt, and metallic bag. Both ladies ooze confidence, but this is a matter of taste - do you prefer the badass or the babe?
