Fab Flash: Victoria Beckham Dress Line Sells Out

Earlier this week Victoria Beckham launched a commercial for her clothing line and last night she flew in to London to attend a private preview evening at Selfridges. Victoria was zipped up for the evening in one of her own designs which she teamed with killer heels and classic quilted Chanel handbag. She first unveiled the line as part of New York Fashion Week but this morning reports suggest that it has already sold out.

The dresses are priced between £650 and £1,900 with no expense spared, even on the zips! "I knew I would spend a lot on the best-quality zips because, like many women, I've had my share of crappy zips," she told The Times, "I wanted a zip that undoes from both ends because then you can either put the dress on over your head or, if you don't want to mess up your hair, you can step into it - and also, you know, going to the loo wouldn't be this whole big palaver.”

She justifies the price tag further adding, "because in these recessionary times, and at these prices, women are looking for something that will be an investment, aren't they?". She gained assistance from Roland Mouret with the collection although he claims that he only helped her to find her a pattern-cutter and seamstress

Victoria discusses the stereotypes in the Spice Girls and how they all played in to their characters. However she confesses, "I had a little black dress that everyone said was Gucci, which it wasn't - it was Miss Selfridge."

It's good to see her getting some positive press as I always feel that Victoria gets a hard time but am naturally sceptical about a celebrity line. Admittedly, she isn't trying to claim to actually draw the clothing. "Do I draw? No. Then again, nor do lots of designers." The proof is most definitely in the pudding!

Fab Cover: Victoria Beckham for Harper's Bazaar

Victoria Beckham is the latest coverstar of Harper's Bazaar. The singer turned designer has shot two different covers for the December issue where she poses in black ensembles. There is also an extensive interview with Victoria where she talks about her solo pop career being "a mistake" and explains, ''I'm a complete control freak. I'm not the easiest person to work with because I'm so passionate and being a working mum, it's a balancing act.''

Victoria also talks about her new role as a designer. She comments that despite being pushed in to performing from an early age, fashion is her true calling. She takes her latest role very seriously explaining,

"There's nothing worse than finding a designer that you like one season, you're so excited, and then next season they've done something different. I want my customer to be able to rely on me if they like a certain silhouette, moving them slightly each season, but keeping them happy."

Despite the success of her clothing line, Victoria admits to being very nervouse about her first presentation.

"I felt beyond vulnerable. I’d never known nerves like it in my life. The night before, I got nodules in my throat. I’d never felt such anxiety. I was very aware that people were expecting very short clothes, probably quite revealing, and I really went against that and showed the other side of me."

Two New Celebrity Footwear Collections on the Horizon

On the footwear front today, the unstoppable Nicole Richie has released exclusive images of her Spring '10 House of Harlow footwear collection. The shoes, set to debut in January at My-Wardrobe.com, stay true to her bohemian aesthetic featuring chunky platforms and Navajo-inspired detailing. Prices are to be determined.

In addition, rumor has it Victoria Beckham will be adding a footwear collection to her covetable VB clothing collection. "Victoria is tired of promoting other brands. If she wears Christian Louboutin or Hermès people go and buy it. She thought, 'Why can't I do this with my own line?'", said a friend of Victoria Beckham. Of course, hottie husband David Beckham supports her new venture offering to build her a design workshop. Tell me, would you be interested?

This week she has revealed an advert for the dresses which will be sold in high end department stores. I always imagined Fearne Cotton to be gorgeous, fun and friendly and now having met her I am pleased to confirm that she is all of those things! Last night, she launched the latest installment of her clothing range at a venue in London as she continues to collaborate with Very.

I say collaborate, but I feel that slightly undermines the amount of work, time and effort Fearne has put in to this range. Kate Moss "can't sketch", Victoria Beckham "can't draw", but Fearne has been carrying round a note pad for months jotting down and drawing her ideas before Very made them a reality. There is evidence of this all over the venue as her creative talents are put to good use (she is a keen artist).

If you needed any proof of how friendly Fearne is, you only had to look around the small space which was packed out with people supporting her on this venture. From showbiz colleagues Reggie Yates and Sarah Cawood, and cool celeb mates like VV Brown and Kelly Jones, to her Mum, there was no shortage of people on hand to make her efforts worthwhile.

I managed to grab a minute with her whilst she sipped on an apple martini (which her Mum helpfully replaced mid interview) and she admitted she'd been "terrified" all day. She said that it was important for her to work with an online retailer explaining, "I do all my shopping online – it's great for interacting with customers. Also, Very allowed me to have a hands on approach and to do my own sketches."

She spoke about her inspiration, "Very '70s, David Bowie, Led Zepplin, My Mum in the '70s, Jimmy Paige," and confessed to being a big Biba fan. "My Mum and my aunt had loads of stuff from there, in fact my cousin (she points her out) is even called Biba!"

Fearne described the project as "my baby" and loves all of the pieces. She is wearing her favourite piece from the collection – the black party frock (£69) which she says is "very comfortable and structured". She explained that she'd already completed her Spring collection which was "inspired by Debbie Harry – girly but tough", and has even begun working on Autumn 2010.

There was a little addition to her Very collaboration as Fearne announced that she'd also been working with Converse on her very own pair of trainers. "I live in Converse, I actually love them and wear them 'til they're worn out. In fact, whilst on a recent charity trip to Africa a homeless child asked me, 'Why are you wearing holey shoes?' So I decided to throw those away!" The shoes are, unsurprisingly, leopard print with red detailing and again her sketches were there to prove her hard work.

Celebs Get Creative At The Costume Institute Met Gala

Last night was a very starry night in New York, as celebs got all dressed up for the Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. There were outfits ranging from the classic to the costume-like, with the stars showing how daring they were with their clothing choices! Leighton Meester took a huge step away from the classic look of her character Blair Waldorf in her patterned outfit, Agyness Deyn rocked a silver dress with big hair, Kate Moss was dressed by Marc Jacobs in gold, Victoria Beckham showed off her pins, and Kate Bosworth went a little gothic in her number.

Madonna played up to her daring reputation in a surprising outfit, Emma Roberts went for a hip-extending sparkly red silhouette, while dashing men Joshua Jackson, Josh Hartnett and Ed Westwick all looked very handsome as they walked the red carpet.

Victoria Beckham in Armani Swarovski Crystal Leggings: Love It or Hate It?

My guess is, if asked what her favorite types of bottoms are, Victoria Beckham would say form-fitting leggings. The posh lady, who just released a new set of steamy Armani underwear ads, wore leggings - not just any leggings, black Swarovski crystal beaded leggings, to the Macy's NYC unveiling of her billboard. She kept herself rather simple in an Emporio Armani black fitted tuxedo jacket with beaded shoulders and black platform shoes. When there's a huge poster of yourself in lingerie in the background, it's smart to not upstage it with loud clothes. Crystal leggings are on the rise - how do you feel about Victoria's?
