Color It Like Beckham: An Interview With Posh's Colorist

Last year, upon the Beckham's much-anticipated arrival to the States, Celebrity colorist Johnny Ramirez welcomed Posh to her new home by "Californizing" that famous graduated bob to platinum blond levels.

Just this past weekend, Ramirez, who works at the Chris McMillan Salon in Beverly Hills, gave the petite trendsetter's chic pixie some extra zip, and I've got the exclusive details on what went down. Check out my interview below, and look out for some more of Johnny's hair-color advice to come:

Is Victoria just as funny in person as she is on TV?
"Victoria is the most generous, warm person. She's considerate, and super nice - not just to me - but to anybody."

Can you tell me a little about what you did do enhance Victoria's chestnut-brown hair?
"After discussing what she wanted, we decided to keep her a brunette. Victoria's ends were faded to a reddish warm color - this happens to most brunettes. To keep her a soft, natural medium brown, I started with her roots by applying a permanent hair color. Once the color was done processing, I combed it through the ends to break up the line at the shampoo bowl. Then . . . two different types of toners were used to tone the warm ends. I always finish my hair color with a gloss to lock in the color and seal it with shine. That's what makes color look healthy, natural, and beautiful."

What did you recommend to Victoria to keep her color looking fresh?
"Right now I've been playing around with the Davines shampoos. They come in different colors. For Victoria, I told her to use the one called Tobacco Shampoo ($22.50) and Tobacco Conditioner ($26.50) once a week. It doesn't have warmth in it, so it's more of a cool brown.

Anything else?
"I also sent her home with Davines Love Shampoo ($16) and Love Conditioner ($18.50). I love the citrusy smell - it's got a pomegranate smell, too. They (Davines) also have a Mask ($23.50). And those are the goodies I sent her home with."

How to: Victoria Beckham's Pixie Crop

Victoria Beckham's new gamine crop gives her a younger, sassier look that wowed the crowds at the Marc Jacobs show. Victoria loves to experiment with her hair and this spiky style looks gorgeous on her, partly because it was tailor-made to suit her face shape and body.

Victoria's new cut is the work of celebrity hairstylist Garren who apparently chopped Audrey Hepburn's iconic crop, as well as creating short looks for the likes of Linda Evangelista and Mia Farrow.

Jacqui Weaver, Creative Director at Fish salon in Soho, London advises "The crop best suits people with good strong cheekbones and small pixie-like features. Posh pulls this cut off as she has lovely high cheekbones and it enhances her swan-like neck."

The pixie crop is also super versatile, as it can be worn sleek or spiked up. Here's some easy styling tips to re-create Victoria's look of the moment: Just read more:

Work with product to really show off the texture. A messed-up, dishevelled do generally looks younger and sexier.
Use hair wax to add definition to the pixie cut. Try Play Fish Sculpt & Define Wax, (£5.49), for extra texture.
Rub a small amount of the wax vigorously between palms and apply to damp or dry hair. Then simply finger style for a mussed-up effect.
Short hair can be incredibly low maintenance but if you're using lots of product you'll need to wash it every day with a nourishing shampoo. I like Charles Worthington Brilliant Shine Takeaways Shampoo, (£1.65). This way you start with a clean canvas each morning for styling your hair.

Hair How To: Victoria Beckham Channels Audrey Hepburn

Victoria Beckham looked like she was taking inspiration from Audrey Hepburn, at the ESPY awards in LA, last night. Her oversize sunglasses, sleek Roland Mouret dress and bouffant up do, were clearly channeling Audrey in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

It's a classically show-stopping hair look, that is sophisticated and playful in equal measures. Don't ask me why, as Miss Golightly proclaimed, in the film, parce que je ne sais pas mon cher.

Here's how to: Just read more then cross your heart and kiss your elbow!

Apply a texturising spray to wet hair before you blow dry, to add grip and texture. Try Sebastian Texturiser, (£19.85).
When your hair is dry, gently backcomb your roots, to add volume.
If you have a fringe, or shorter layers at the front like Victoria, then separate these and hold with a clip for now.
Now pull the right side of your hair (from your crown to the nape of your neck) back. Pin it back along the middle of your head. The length of your hair should be hanging down.
Next, pull the left side of your hair back to meet the right side in the middle. Twist the two sections of hanging hair, together and up toward the crown of your head, to cover the line of pins.
Secure the twist to the back of your head with bobby pins. Then swirl the ends of the twist together, into a loose messy bun, and secure with more pins.
For a quick alternative, simply smooth hair high on the head into a full, plump ponytail. Fan out the hair to add volume, and clip the ends under, and secure with pins.
Unpin the shorter layers or fringe at the front, and smooth to one side. Keep the volume, like Victoria, by not pulling flat. Then secure them to the bun with pins.
Spritz your do with hairspray, such as Andrew Collinge Weightless Volume Hairspray, (£3.99).
Now buy some furniture and give the cat a name.

How-To: Victoria Beckham's Oscar-Night Hair

Last night, Victoria Beckham was among the people who raised more than $4 million to fund AIDS research at the Elton John AIDS Foundation soiree. She looked uh-may-zing in a dress of her own creation (!) and proves that short hair can be ubersexy. Turns out that the dress provided inspiration for hair stylist Ken Paves. "For Victoria, I wanted to create a simple and elegant style to pair with her ultraglam and modern dress," he explained.

Step one: Spritz volumizer (Ken uses his own Healthy Hair Volumizing Spray, $24) on damp hair.
Step one: Use a vented brush while blow-drying hair.
Step three: Create a deep side part.
Step four: Finish by using gel just around the hairline.

Jennifer Lopez Shocked by Posh's Chop

Jennifer Lopez has been really busy recently, what with the launch of her new perfume for men and partying at Milan Fashion Week. She's also revealed that she was stunned when she first saw her friend Victoria Beckham's new hair cut.

According to rumours, Jennifer has been saying she had no idea Posh was going to go for such a drastic change. According to Marie Claire, J-Lo admitted "I was so shocked. I arranged to meet up with her the day she had it done." It seems Posh had kept her hair plans a secret. J-Lo revealed "She didn't tell me what she was doing, so I turned up and there she was with this incredibly short black hair. I was knocked out!"

Jennifer, who isn't known for making drastic style changes, particularly in terms of her hair cut and colour was obviously impressed by Victoria's daring pixie cut. She added "I told her she looked like Audrey Hepburn. I think she's such a great girl."

How, you may wonder, did Victoria gain all this wisdom? "I was never the 6-foot-tall pinup. I've always been the girl-next-door who got lucky," she said. "I've come a long way in the last 10 years, but this book isn't my attempt to tell you what or what not to do. It's just to share some of what I've learned."

I look forward to learning from Victoria because even though her style isn't always on par, she has confidence every gal can take cues from.

At this weekend's Los Angeles Laker's basketball game, Posh and her precious brood gathered on their amazing floor seats to check out the action.

Victoria, dressed in grey skinny jeans and a tiny top was showing off more than just her outfit and handsome hubby. In fact, the singer, clothing designer and cover model was debuting a longer and looser hairstyle than we're used to seeing on her. Could it be extensions, or perhaps just growth that she's been keeping tucked away behind all of her Alice bands this past year?

The fashion-y types were at Marc Jacobs tonight, but look who stole the attention from the clothing. If you thought Victoria Beckham looked like Audrey Hepburn before, check out this Sabrina-esque crop on her. It's so gamine, and if anyone can wear this fringey cut well, it's this risk-taking, trend-setting fashion icon.

At first glance, I wasn't crazy about it, but now I kinda love it. What do you think? Will this be another "Posh bob" craze in the making?

Love It or Hate It? Victoria Beckham's Vibrant, Multilayered Headband

Leave it to Victoria Beckham to treat us with looks that delight and mystify at the same time. Whether it's a sleek vinyl hair accessory or a slew of long to short styles, the former pop singer keeps us on our toes.

Today, Beckham was out in Milan sporting an unusual multihued headband with layers of magenta-toned bows atop of layers of red bows. Two bejeweled brooches added to the whimsy.

To keep the look more toned down, she paired the bold with the simple, sporting a chic black dress with black accessories. What are you thinking of her crimson headband? Does it dazzle or does it frazzle?
