Fab Flash: Vivienne Westwood Designs Graduation Gowns

Seems that eccentric British designer Vivienne Westwood has developed a bit of a soft spot for university. Recently she was awarded an honorary degree from the University of Dundee. She has also designed a range of graduation gowns for Kings College, London.

Both the capes and gowns were designed by Westwood and will be worn by students later this month. There will be 20 different robes of varying colours (depending on the subject) and each will feature a King's College London lion button on the shoulder.

Westwood commented: "Through my reworking of the traditional robe I tried to link the past, the present and the future. We are what we know."

I wonder if all this academic experience will influence her next collection?

On Our Radar: Vivienne and Stella Outfit the Queen's Guards

The Queen's guards have become quite the landmark in London. Who can miss those bright red uniforms and huge furry hats? They might look striking, but did you know that one bear has to be killed for each of their hats to be made? Tear. Vivienne Westwood and Stella McCartney to the rescue! Rumor has is that the two designers, in conjunction with PETA, will design cruelty-free guards uniforms for the Queen.

I wonder what lovely designs Vivienne, famous for her avant garde aesthetic, and Stella, known for using animal-free materials, will come up with. All they need is the approval from the Ministry of Defence, so let's cross our fingers.

Everyone's Wearing Vivienne Westwood for Melissa

Vivienne Westwood's collaboration with Melissa shoes has been on my radar for a while, and as new styles keep being added I can't help but share them with you. The gorgeous footwear has received plenty of celebrity support recently from the likes of Katy Perry, Katie Holmes and Shingai Shoniwa of The Noisettes. Campaign star Pamela Anderson was the first to step out in the Lady Dragon heart heels last December, and Katy Perry was soon to follow suit in the same peach pair. Katie Holmes was spotted on the set of The Extra Man wearing a black, Mary Jane style (£79) with a comfortable heel. This weekend, Shingai wore my favourite pair – the tortoise shell lady (£88) which are very versatile. What do you think of this collaboration?

Kate Moss Is Taking Care of Her Own Hair For the Time Being

Kate Moss broke out her old Vivienne Westwood pirate boots for dinner at Nobu in London last night with Jamie Hince and Amber Valletta. It was her second recent night out in the same fur jacket, though Kate kept things otherwise casual in her tank and jeans. Amber and Kate have known each other for many years, and with Amber's first clothing line, Amber Valletta For Monrow, launching next week, Kate can probably give her some great model-turned-designer advice. One friend of Kate's who might be around a little less often is her former BFF James Brown - she's apparently decided to stop seeing him as a hairstylist after getting pissed about how much airtime she got on his Supermodel Salon TV show.

Vivienne Westwood Debuts Wallpaper Collection For Cole & Son

Brit fashion designer Vivienne Westwood's apparel may be too punky to wear for some, but her new collection of wallpaper for Cole & Son has just enough whimsy for every house. From her iconic Squiggle print of Fall/Winter 1981-92 to her more recent Cutout Lace of Spring/Summer '07, all of her wallpapers are based on signature designs from her fashion collections.

"It is good when my ideas get carried over into other artistic media," she says. She's right about that. Her Squiggle print has always been a favorite, so I'd love to dress my walls with it. See the designs when you read more.

Fab Flash: Joe Corre Quits Agent Provocateur

Joe Corre set up lingerie label Agent Provocateur 15 years ago with his then wife Serena Rees. The label has since gone from strength to strength with countless celebrity campaigns starring Kate Moss, Daisy Lowe and Rosie Huntington Whiteley to name but a few.

Today it has been announced that Corre, the son of Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren, has left the label to pursue other projects. Garry Hogarth, chief executive officer of Agent Provocateur commented,

“[Corre] has a men’s wear business, Child of the Jago, and he’s very much into music - he just wanted to do some other things.”

He will still hold a minority stake in the brand and the head creative designer will remain the same. Agent Provocateur will soon be launching a jewellery line and are close to signing a new fragrance deal.

Fab Cover: Tatler Celebrates 300th Anniversary!

Tatler magazine is this month celebrating being older than some countries – it's 300th anniversary! The London based publication has been bringing fashion, style and society news for three centuries and is marking the occasion with a very royal covergirl. It promises to be the biggest issue ever boasting 408 pages and a triple fold cover. Editor Catherine Ostler explained the first ever issue from 1709. “There were no pictures - and it was filled with gossip, opinion and wit. [Jonathan] Swift was the first contributor! It was distributed in the coffee houses of St. James’s, and readers were addicted to it. This is how a title keeps going.”

The November issue contains plenty of key society players including the Guinness family, Annabel Goldsmith, Tamara Beckwith, Victoria Hervey and Boris Johnson. One shoot in the magazine involves Union Jack-themed designs by Louis Vuitton, Vivienne Westwood, Matthew Williamson, Stella McCartney and Jasper Conran.

Fab Field Day: Vintage Fashion Fair

Trying to find the perfect additions to your wardrobe doesn't have to start and end on the High Street. If you are looking for something truly unique then you might want to broaden your search to vintage markets and fairs. I recently attended the Primrose Hill vintage fashion fair which takes place once a month at the Cecil Sharp House on Regents Park Road.

This is a great place to earn your fashion stripes as you can hunt for a one off frock, amazing accessories or classic designer pieces. There was an aray of costume jewellery on offer along side investment designs by the likes of Yves Saint Laurent, Prada and Vivienne Westwood. There was also some gorgeous milinery and lace gloves which I completely fell for.

Prices were quite reasonable with bargain baskets at many stalls with funky pieces for under £10. There is a fair this weekend in Archway at the Byam Shaw School of Art between 11am and 5pm.

Kate Moss Leads the Fashion Pack to Party in London

The fashion fun has moved from New York onto London, where Kate Moss led the pack of stars in the front row. She joined Philip Green and his daughter Chloe yesterday afternoon for the Topshop Unique show, which sent a colorful grunge-inspired collection down the runway. The Greens and Kate went on to host a private dinner last night at the Ivy, bringing out fashionable folks from England and beyond - Naomi Campbell mingled with Anna Wintour, Burberry designer Christopher Bailey, Jamie Hince, and Kate's soon-to-be business partner Simon Cowell.
