Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Episode Two "Never Been Marcused"

I must say, I am loving how fun Gossip Girl is right now - It's kind of crazy, don't you think? In last night's second episode we finally caught up with everyone, including Rufus who's back from his band tour, Jenny back from playing in the Hamptons with Eric, and Vanessa who has been watching the gallery, decorating it and apparently turning it into a funky cafe.

Besides Dan and Serena's PDAs, the episode completely belonged to Blair, who's decided she's in love with "the Lord" and hatched a scheme to impress his step-mother the Duchess in order to hang on to him. Which of course meant that Chuck had to hatch a scheme of his own to get rid of him. Amazing. Here's some more of my thoughts, I can't wait to read yours!

Dan and Serena are seriously back together ( well, "getting it on") even though they feel like they should think about it a little since they really haven't explored the reasons they broke up.
Dan was decidedly less annoying this episode! It probably has to do with letting go of his sometimes insanely self-righteous inhibitions and following his ~~crotch~~ heart. Dan's getting a little of Penn Badgely's charm, now he's less thoughtful and more... almost sexy?
The seen on the bus with Serena and Dan reminded me of the old chewing gum advert remember? But with out of the ordinary sized fruit.... a far more exciting journey back that Blair and Marcus, if unhygienic.
Nate's family drama was back, with his dad on the run and his family in serious financial trouble due to the authorities in their business.
"I'll figure it out, I just need time" seemed to be all Nate said the entire episode. Well, that and, "I just need someone to talk to!"
And then he pretty much sold his body to the Duchess! I felt so dirty at the end when he took an envelope full of money from her, she rubbed his thigh (ew!), and then he made sad eyes out the window.
Let's go back a little - so, the Duchess is Marcus's step-mother, and she's doing it with Nate, and Blair and Nate are exes. You get the drift. As usual, the only person who doesn't know any of this is Dan.
Blair to Serena re: the Duchess: "She made Waldorf rhyme with Spears! I might as well go commando!"
I really do think Chuck is pretty irresistible when he's doing good deeds. But I love Chuck, so maybe I'm a little biased. Trying to help Nate was nice of him, even though Nate was mortified by his friend loaning his mom money.
Chuck was also trying to strike up a "bromance," (love that word) as GG put it, with Marcus in order to get to his step-mother and ensure she would hate Blair. Doing evil and good in one episode? The dichotomy of Chuck.

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Ep 17 "Woman On The Verge"

After last week's shocking revelation that Serena killed someone, I had a feeling last night's Gossip Girl was going to be a little heavy. My favourite thing about last night was Nate, Chuck, Blair, and Serena coming together to try and sort everything out. I was also pretty happy about getting a break from Jenny following her social rise and fall. Hopefully she'll return refreshed and with a little perspective. Last week I suggested Georgina was mostly driven by craziness, and the opening scene proved me right. The montage of her obsessively calling Serena freaked me out.
Apparently right after Serena told Blair she killed someone, Blair excused herself to grab some Valium to help calm her friend (naturally), and when she returned Serena had left to party again. It's a pattern that's starting to annoy me: Serena lets out a huge secret, then goes on a crazy bender that involves no less than three blokes at a bar.

I think Dan still has every right to be upset and hurt by Serena. She keeps talking about goodness and pedestals as justifications for lying, and that can't be healthy. I am finding it really hard to see where she's coming from.
I just cannot believe she told him she slept with someone . . . to protect him? I was so annoyed at Serena for adding another secret to that tangled web she's weaving. Such a bad decision.
Blair summoned Chuck and Nate over to her place to help clean up Serena's hangover with a shower and a lot of bagels. The whole scene made me laugh, especially when perverted Chuck sneaked a peak of Blair undressing Serena. Oh Chuck.

Meanwhile... Rufus performed at a VH1 "Forgotten Bands Of The '90s" event hosted by Lisa Loeb - blast from the past! I think the show's writers understand they have folks a teensy bit older than the millennials watching...
So what did you think of Rufus' singing voice? I think his dress sense and scruffy hair say "former rock star" more than his performance.
Serena finally told her friends her big secret, right at the same time Lily watched the video herself. Turns out Serena just witnessed a guy OD on cocaine. It wasn't her drugs; she called 911, then left the scene. I felt like her friends' facial expressions practically said, "That's not murder, you idiot!"
Second favourite line of the ep was Blair urging Serena to spill the beans because "We're the non-judging Breakfast Club." I also loved how they confessed their own messed up secrets to make Serena feel better. Which led to my favourite all-time Chuck moment as all he had to say was – "I'm Chuck Bass."

In the end, Lily and Serena had a touching mother-daughter moment (thanks to Blair) and Serena's conscience was cleared. Great! Still, that murder thing was all over really quickly. I thought it would be more drawn out. But then, Dan still thinks that Serena had sex with someone else. He bought Georgina's crazy story about lying about her name, and it looks likely he'll get with her. Oh, and Lily and Rufus kissed!

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Episode 11, "Roman Holiday"

So just as we're heading into the summer, of course it's Christmas time on Gossip Girl. A whole lot of the plot was utterly unrealistic, but hey, that's why we love it, right? However, we do not love a distinct lack of Chuck. Here are my thoughts:

What's with the episodes with no Chuck at all? I guess his "presence" was there and we got the answer to where he went from the airport: Monaco. But – seriously – I want my Chuck Bass! I didn't miss Nate nearly as much.
Thankfully, Jenny wasn't in it much either. She is really annoying me now.
I thought the Blair/Dad/Dad's lover plot was sweet last night. But, since when has Mum Waldorf been a sympathetic character? I didn't think I would ever like the parents on this show but I have to admit I'm coming round to them all.

Vanessa got Dan the best Christmas gift ever: getting published in the uber-prestigious New Yorker Fiction Issue. Because that would happen. But we'll just go with it as he's obviously amazingly talented. Predictably Serena felt all inferior so she went out and bought him a watch so he doesn't miss all his important meetings. He was kind of an arse about it and wouldn't take the gift. Instead, they agree to stay under $50...
The Humphrey parents' happiness didn't last too long. In a flash it was revealed Allison was carrying on behind Rufus' back. Overall I'm glad that she is on her way to Hudson, but that final scene with her was a little sad.
Oh, but why on earth was Dan reading his Mum's mail out loud?
I really want Mr. Waldorf and his European lover to just move in with Blair and her Mum. One big happy family! Blair was momentarily childish, but Mum saved the day. Yay Eleanor! (Never thought I'd say that...)
Chuck's so bad with those text messages to Blair asking about how she faked her virginity and threatening to tell Nate. Bad Chuck. (Come back!)

Serena on Bart Bass: "He raised Chuck. That scares me." Ha.
And a big ol' cliffhanger at the end! Rufus was outside the van der Woodsen apartment in the freezing cold with no jacket semi-professing his love for Lily on her answering machine while inside Bart Bass was proposing to her. That seems a bit out of the blue since just a few episodes ago he was ignoring her, but okay – I'll go with it! What's she going to do? And how will Chuck react?

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Episode 8, "Seventeen Candles"

Gossip Girl and Guitar Hero sounds like a fun night in, but I never thought I'd see Guitar Hero in GG. Nobody throws a party quite like Blair Waldorf, but I was expecting a lot more drunken debauchery, I have to say. Don't forget to catch up with my buddy Fab UK for her fashion quiz! Spoilers below!

OK, so Vanessa is starting to annoy me to no end. She needs to give Serena and Dan some space. Granted, they really need to get a room.
I know most people hate him, but I'm still loving the pantomime villian that is Chuck. After he took that ever-so-special thing from Blair, he didn't pressure Blair into doing anything she didn't want to, so he doesn't deserve the abuse she gave him. Also, the scene with the necklace was almost sweet enough to make me forget that he kinda tried to date rape two of the main characters in the season premiere.
Uh, where did Eric go? And why doesn't anyone realise he's missing?

Um, is it just me or does it seem like Dan and Jenny's mother doesn't really know her her children at all? I'm not a fan of Mama Humprey.
Nate's parents are super awkward, not to mention totally dim. The scene where his dad is trying to convince Nate the the whole scandal isn't really a big deal was painful. So, I'm generally not loving the parents again.

Loved Blair's Japanese-themed birthday party, with her minions dressed in Sailor Moon outfits. Cute!
But, are we really expected to believe that Serena sits around and practices her video game skills? Come on, in the real world Vanessa would have kicked her ass. And Serena's hair wouldn't be so perfect... Maybe a dance-off would've been better? Also, Serena's guitar faces made me cringe. *shiver*
In summary, I'm leaning more towards Team Blair this episode. Big change!
Line of the episode: "You went down almost as hard as Britney at the VMAs." OK, so not as current as when it would have first aired in the States, but still giggle-inducing.
As creepy as Chuck can be, I think I like him and Blair together. They have a weird love/hate chemistry going on. Their banter is pretty entertaining, especially when Blair is telling Chuck to kill his inner butterflies. Nate, though very pretty, is too safe and dull for her.
Blair and Chuck are still hooking up and only Serena knows... can't wait to hear what she says... and, eventually, how Nate reacts! Eek!

So here are my questions: Could you see yourself liking Chuck now he's being fleshed out a little? Are you wishing all of the parents would relocate to a desert island so we don't have to watch them anymore? And will Dan and Serena be able to make it through an episode without a Vanessa interruption? Oh god I hope so.

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Ep 18, "Much 'I Do' About Nothing"

So, last night ITV showed the season finale of Gossip Girl, and... well... I was a little underwhelmed. Yes, there were some great one-liners, a lot of good Chuck moments, and we even witnessed Dan scheming alongside Blair – at first glance, last night's episode was everything we could have asked for from GG, so why did it fall flat for me?

It felt rushed for one thing – I think they actually gave us too much, too fast and didn't leave us with much of a finale cliffhanger. Still, regardless of how anti-climactic many of the scenes felt, there was still a lot that went down and so much we must discuss. And don't forget to take Fab UK's quiz!

The Georgina story has been building for weeks, her evilness reaching new scary levels with every lie. I expected her to go out swinging, in a fiery blaze of defeat just before she was about to cause permanent damage to everyone involved. But instead, Georgina quietly imploded into a spoiled child who was more scared of her parents than anything else and – what's more – this was all resolved only ten minutes into the program. Disappointing, no? I mean, it was getting so good.
And Rufus and Lily also kinda sputtered out without much fanfare. These two are supposed to have super "they must be together" tension and yet they're so adult about their feelings for each other. That's just no fun. When Rufus shows up at Lily's wedding they kind of shrug, say they love each other and Rufus says, "Have a nice wedding!" Oh. Where's the drama in that?!

I enjoyed how the sweet morning music screeched to a halt at the opening of the episode as Blair realised she was in Chuck's arms. Chuck's response, "We were up late plotting against Georgina, we must have dozed off."
Speaking of plots, everyone was extremely self-aware this week, including Dan who sought help from Blair to get back at Georgina and said, "This is so weird, I don't usually do plots against people."
Loved Gossip Girl's addition to this, "Poor Humphrey. Looks like our regular moral compass, isn't such a straight arrow after all.”
Rufus is going on tour with one of my fave bands The Breeders! That's super-cool, well, in a fictional sense.
I was annoyed with the did he/didn't he sleep with Georgina issue? But I loved how Serena just did not want to hear it.

Meanwhile, it is hammered home that Chuck's love for Blair brings out the good, decent person in him which is, as Blair tells Serena, awfully ironic given Blair's general disposition. Still, she lets herself get swept away by Chuck's charm (ha!) and grosses out Serena by talking about how sexy he is. Tres amusant.
As predicted, Dan could not stick it out with Serena and he broke up with her. However, I thought he sounded awfully sanctimonious when he yelled, "I got seduced by someone else because of your lies!" Uh, no. I'm pretty sure the only one responsible for Dan getting seduced was Dan. Come on now, take a little ownership here.
So Dan and Serena break up, Chuck and Blair are in love, Nate and Chuck are friends again, and Jenny gets an internship with Blair's mum for the summer. So, they skip ahead one week. Wasn't sure about this... could really have ended it there. But skip ahead we do...
And before I can even process anything that has happened (heartbreak for D and S, C and B together), every relationship changes. Again. Headspin.
I get that Blair and Chuck have more sparks apart from each other than together, but still. Did they have to break them up that fast? We're talking an ad break here. I'm confused why Josh Schwartz and gang wouldn't want to take their time with Chuck and Blair's story - I think a couple episodes of them falling in love so that their inevitable implosion is that much more heartbreaking and/or fabulous would have been awesome. Though perhaps that was their arc and the writers' strike compacted the season to the extent the end went a little awry...
It ends with Chuck unable to commit to Blair and gives in to guest star Lydia Hearst's charms. But then Blair finds her own random hottie on her way to Europe for the summer. And, of course, as soon as Dan is single, so is Vanessa. She made me laugh when she admitted that Nate was prettier than her.
So that leaves Nate and Serena, alone, together. Probably going to the Hamptons. Sigh

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Episode 16 "All About My Brother"

Gossip Girl is just getting better and better - partly due to Georgina, who I'm starting to believe is driven by mental instability and pure evil rather than actual motive. We know, from last week's ep, that whatever secret Serena is carrying will bring G down too. So why would Georgina mess with her own future? And why push Serena that far? She must expect that Serena's too wet to call her bluff. But it wasn't just that mystery that fueled the episode - there were secrets being exposed all over the place. Here are the rest of my thoughts:

The struggle to become top dog between Blair and Jenny took over the Gossip Girl blog – it was crazy. Rumours were flying every which way; then it involved Asher; and then even Dan was sending in tips!
Ooh, don't forget to take Fab UK's Fashion Quiz!!
Blair was on fire last night! I loved seeing the many sides of her in one episode – wicked, ruthless, and protective of her friends. I'm so glad she finally went in for the kill. Jenny took a long, hard fall, but it was about time she got back to her roots. I've always been fighting in B's corner vs J.

Asher was just so horrid and awful. Jenny's desperation to fit in at any cost annoys me, but when Asher broke the news that she was just his beard - "Do you think someone like me dates someone like you?" - I could have died for her. Ugh! But instead of slapping him across the face and walking out, she compromised her soul even more.
That little chorus of rich girls had some of the best lines of the night, including "Now you know how Vanessa Hudgens feels" and "Dating a gay guy is an honest mistake, but lying to your girlfriends about sex is unforgivable."
Our friendly(?!) narrator got in a few fab lines herself, including, "Don't worry Little J. The sun will come out tomorrow, even though your boyfriend did today..." Awesome.

MURDER! I knew it. Seriously, it felt like my heart stopped beating when Serena said that. I was SO shocked. And how heartbreaking was that final scene with B and S? Blair is, at the end of the day, a really good friend. Can't wait to see what happens next...
So yes, Serena's been acting strange, but lets think about Dan for a second? He meets a new girl, tells her all his relationship problems, and forces her on to Serena? Secret identity of said friend aside, I think S would have every right to be mad. Come on, Dan!
Lily and Rufus, back to flirting, trading parenting horror stories, and leaning on each other for support. Aw. Maybe Bart might want to come home.

After Eric was outed (thanks a lot, G), Serena seemed hurt that Eric would turn to Chuck to chat about his feelings. Eric explained that at least Chuck's not judgmental. Does Chuck as a shoulder to cry on make anyone else giggle?
The surrender of Jenny to Blair was a great scene. Blair was actually restrained in her victory - sort of. She admitted that Jenny put up a good fight but followed that with classic Blair, "I hope you don't expect a hug."

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Ep 15, "Desperately Seeking Serena"

Last night's episode of Gossip Girl hit pause on the Blair vs. Jenny storyline and made way for badass Georgina Sparks. Woohoo! She started out harmless enough (even a little needy), and it seemed like Serena was just making bad choices that had little to do with the arrival of her old friend. However, considering the packages full of porn and handcuffs Georgina sent last week, we knew things were going to get diabolical fast. Don't forget to take FabUK's fashion quiz after you've read my thoughts on last night:

I'm so over Jenny's tantrums. Also, I was not loving the dog walker – Asher Hornsby – I don't think he was as hot as Jenny thought. Did any of you get that attraction?
I love scheming Blair! She's so resourceful (and evil) when she needs to be, and her target last night was over-achieving Nelly Yuki, who, like Blair, wants to go to Yale. According to Blair-logic, only one teen from Constance Billard can get into Yale, so naturally she had to sabotage Nelly's SAT performance.

As I said, at first Georgina seemed harmless and a little insecure, with an obvious taste for partying. But then she drugged Serena in a bar. Wow. She's clearly threatened by the new Serena and her happiness - but they still share some big secret together.
When Serena's past starts to catch up with her, she turns to Chuck "we'll never share DNA" Bass to bail her out. Huh? Yes, when she realised she was in trouble, she just flipped open her phone and barked to Chuck "Stall!" or "Take care of it!" and then was totally shocked when his trouble-shooting involves morally ambiguous plans like sending a redhead to take the SATs for her. Um, this is CHUCK we're talking about, Serena.

I loved when Georgina lied to Serena about having a wild night, claiming Serena switched to Patron and got flirty with "the guy with the ironic mustache."
So Nate's character has grown a lot, and . . . you know, he's rather nice-looking. FabUK is slightly obsessed – are you? His new romance with Vanessa is cute so far; however, Blair spotted them together, so they won't be happy for long if she has anything to do with it.
I really loved the scenes in the Humphrey household. Rufus and Dan's exasperation with Jenny's angst is pretty adorable. Jenny – cut your dad a break and spend some time with him!
I'm a little confused about how Georgina tracked down Dan, but no matter - she did, and she is so sneaky. She called her dog "Georgie" and introduced herself to him as Sarah. Where is this going?!
And finally, I still love the clothes and still want Serena's hair! Gorgeous.

By the end of the episode, Serena was a little less wishy-washy than usual and threatened Georgina that they will both go down if she reveals the big secret. But what is it?! Still, now Serena is shutting out Dan and letting Chuck take care of her - and that might leave Dan vulnerable to the charm of "Sarah" – Michelle Trachtenberg has a few episodes to go in her guest starring role!

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Episode 14 "The Blair B*tch Project"

OK, so last night's Gossip Girl was the first after a break in the US – did you notice any differences in the cast's appearances?! While the episode title has Blair's name in it, the night really belonged to Jenny. Who knew she had the cojones to really be a worthy nemesis to Blair? Don't forget to test yourself with Fab UK's fashion quiz, but for now here's more of my thoughts:

Oh, Chuck. He kicked off his new role as brother to Serena by smoking pot in her bathroom, and then responded to Serena's request that, due to them not sharing DNA, he not call her his sister by saying "Then I suggest you get new hand towels." Yuk.
There's a price to be paid when you're "Queen Bee" - Jenny owed one of her new friends $120 for brunch! Ouch. Mind you, there are perks to getting in with this new crew, including her trip to Aspen on a private jet. Not too shabby...

The Bass/van der Woodsen wedding planning was in full swing, with Bart Bass really emphasising that Chuck must be on his best behaviour during the build up. They have an odd relationship – it makes me feel sorry for Chuck. One of Chuck's best disgusting lines of the night came when a mysterious package arrived for Serena. When Lily asked her to keep that dirty package off the table, Chuck's response was, "If I had a dime for every time I've heard that . . ." What?! Yuk AGAIN!
Speaking of Lily and Chuck, the most naive statement of the year goes to Lily who said - in all seriousness - to her daughter, "Chuck may be eccentric, but I doubt he’s diabolical." Oh, Lily, if only you knew. And the most accurate statement of the year goes to Serena's brother when she grilled him on why he was spending so much time with Chuck: "Chuck is fun!" True dat.

So, by Serena's mysterious inappropriate package No. 2 and from all my knowledge of upcoming guest stars on the show, I knew Chuck wasn't behind the deliveries and it was Georgina Sparks, Michelle Trachtenberg's character (Dawn from Buffy). Predictable.
Nate earned more cute-points from me when he was being protective of Jenny. I love him as the nice guy (even more than Dan) and thought he was endearing last night. Jenny should stop using him for popularity, though.
Oh Dan and Serena – yawn, boring, they're in love. Bring on Georgina!
Blair's photo-cake Jenny birthday bash was pretty genius and amusing, but Jenny was on her way to self-destruction anyway, because she stole her friend's mum's ridiculously expensive dress. I was mortified for her (and annoyed at her). My top Dan moment was his brotherly concern: "Dad's worried you're turning into a hideous cyborg."
Anyone else see some flaws in Jenny's logic? She's offended that Rufus thought she was ashamed of her background - but then went on a whiny tirade about how it sucks to be the girl who has to eat a brown-bag lunch. Jenny's annoying, but I still want to see what she gets herself into next.

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, "The Thin Line Between Chuck & Nate"

Last night's show marked the end of the first part of this series of Gossip Girl, as the writers went on strike and there was a massive gap in airdates in the US after this episode aired. So look out for minor changes in the cast's looks from the next episode - everyone needs to have their hair cut! All was well in last night's show – for one thing Chuck was back and we also got a good solid storyline for Blair and Serena's friendship, something that has been fairly lacking so far. Here's more of my thoughts:

While we may never know who Gossip Girl is, she's got spies everywhere! The episode kicked off when Serena's pretty private moment buying a pregnancy test ends up on the internet. Cue the rumour mill.
Dan's little sister Jenny broke our eardrums as she re-emerged on the show. I'm happy to say that her sassiness was mostly good this episode rather than horrible. So maybe there is hope yet that Jenny will be catty but cool.

I never thought I'd say this, but I was unhappy there was no real parent plotline this episode. I mean, I guess there was a Rufus story and I know I should give up on him and Lily for now, but those new girls seem annoying. At least Dan and Jenny are all about their dad being such a stud.
Oh wow, Dan is the perfect boyfriend. And Serena is kind of annoying about it, with her whole "I need to know why you love me" thing. That whole scene was over the top. Those of you who love Dan/Serena probably thought that was the sweetest scene ever, but it just kind of grated on me. Am I jaded, or did you feel that too?

Love Blair. She had some great one-liners this episode. "Maybe I am a total b*tch. Did you ever think about that?" and "I'm sorry if unlike some people I haven't been on the pill since I was 15." She was on fire when she was in denial mode.
Did anyone else think that no matter what her motive, it was totally and completely wrong for Serena to tell Chuck about Blair's pregnancy scare? Blair had every right to be really annoyed, even if she wasn't totally honest with Serena about the situation.
And how about Jenny telling Nate about Chuck? Scandalous. Thankfully, Eric is wise in the ways of eavesdropping and can easily tell that's how the information got from Serena to Dan to Jenny to Nate.
Loved that Chuck wrote into Gossip Girl himself about Blair. Such a Chuck thing to do. How often has he been doing that?
And thank you writers, for bringing back evil, mean Chuck with a vengeance – he makes me shiver uncomfortably and laugh at the same time with his attitude! How about when he compared Blair to his father's Arabian horses, saying she was "rode hard and put away wet"? Ick! And this, "I don't want you, and I don't see how anyone else would." Yikes.
So all of a sudden, after one scandal for Blair, Jenny is the new Queen B? Really? Hmm...
I'm glad that Serena stopped Blair from running away. And I do love Serena because she's still best friends with Blair - though really, Blair's bark is worse than her bite. What a way to end the episode. "Who's going down next? Everybody, if Blair has anything to do with it."

Pop Watch: Gossip Girl, Episode 12, "School Lies"

For me, last night's Gossip Girl was all about Blair-Chuck-Nate. That said, there are no complaints here about "School Lies" other than I'm not sure I like the characters that I'm supposed to. Check out Fab UK's fashion quiz on last night's episode. Now, here are my thoughts:

OK, so Nate's getting much hotter, right? I think it's the hair, or maybe Chace Crawford was filming this episode around the time that he started to become more famous in the US and that new-found confidence is showing up on screen. He actually had some personality this episode too – his character is about a billion times less spineless these days.
OMG Chuck's red striped swimming pool outfit made me so happy. Bless him. Except don't, because he's so evil! (Yet awesome.)
I went from not caring at all about the parent drama to almost liking it more than the stuff with the teens. Out of nowhere, the Bart-Lily-Rufus plot is the best thing about the show (don't worry, no spoilers until after the jump).
Still want their clothes, and their hair. Anyone else surprised that Serena went with a classic one-piece bathing suit for the illicit pool party?

Vanessa is still a pain. I mean, I know that she is supposed to be super cool and not playing into all the prep school nonsense with her oh-so-artsy self, but she just bugs me. I'm glad she gave Blair the tape but surprised that she accepted Blair paying her year's rent in return (even if Vanessa wasn't expecting it to happen). And I get that making a foundation to help fight youth genital herpes in Chuck's name is funny and all . . . but she's just so annoyingly self-righteous. At least she doesn't seem to be trying to break up Serena and Dan.
Speaking of which, Dan himself was a little much last night. He's still a puppy dog for Serena, but he just can't seem to have a good time. He needs to loosen up.

Sigh, and then there are the parents. I'm conflicted about the Rufus-Lily-Bart situation. While it's a little ridiculous that Serena demands that her Mum choose Bart (against her heart's desires), that's the thing about being in teenage love - you think that it means everything and could be forever. That being said, I cheered at the moment when Lily called Rufus and told him she wanted to give it a try. My issue is, why does she have to choose either of them? Why can't Lily just be single a little while longer to look for someone who isn't Bart and isn't Rufus either?
I was kind of happy to see Blair and Nate together again at the end . . . see my note in the beginning of this rundown about Nate's hotness. I'm still Team Chuck ultimately, though.
