As owner of Atlanta's Urbanbella salon and apothecary-style store, Keneesha Hudson has learned a thing or two about hair — particularly when it comes to kinky, curly, and wavy textures. That's why I consulted with the leading expert in the category on how to tame those unruly curls; and now, I have more of her helpful tips. No matter what kind of curl texture you've got, if your hair has some type of wave to it, this post is for you.

On Saturday at an event in California, singer Melanie Brown walked the red carpet wearing her signature smoky eyes and nude lips, however, her hair, was stick straight. Usually, we see Mel with wavy or au natural curly hair out and about town, but for dressing up, I happen to think this look is sophisticated and flattering. Which way do you like Mel's hair styled best?

While next spring is looking to be all about slicked-back 20's hair, low ponytails and oversize braids if London Fashion Week is anything to go by, this season is about laid back waves and textured hair styles. Whether you prefer it disheveled or perfectly groomed; wavy hair is back on our radar.
At Preen's autumn/winter show the girls had gloriously unkempt hair, while at Tommy Hilfiger and DKNY, (pictured), waves were ultra groomed and pristine, as though the models were 40's glamour girls.

Last night in Hollywood, a long list of famous faces lined the red carpet to promote the new romantic comedy Valentine's Day. The men looked dapper as ever in suits and bright smiles, whilst the ladies were decked out in gowns, cocktail dresses and dazzling hair and makeup. Two popular hairstyles of the evening were updos (check out Emma Roberts, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel), and long, loose waves like we see below on Julia, Demi, Jessica, Jen, Garcelle and Rebecca.

Over the weekend, famed stylist Rachel Zoe attended a star-studded clam bake in Malibu with pin-straight hair. A month earlier she went to the CFDA Awards with a little bit more wave (a look we tend to typically see on her) and in February, she rocked New York fashion week's amfAR Gala with a curly coif. Out of these three hairstyles, which do you like most on Rachel?

Last night at the London Film Festival, actress Amanda Seyfreid arrived on the red carpet with straight hair, (albeit with tonnes of body) for the UK Premiere of her latest film Chloe. Earlier in the day, she was spotted with co-star Julianne Moore with casual looking wavy hair. And just last month at the Toronto Film Festival, she promoted her flick with beautifully constructed retro-curls.

As owner of Urbanbella, an Atlanta apothecary-style salon and store that caters to women with kinky, curly, and wavy hair textures, Keneesha Hudson has mastered the art of the curl. The two major complaints she hears most frequently are the appearance of unwanted frizz and increased dryness, particularly during the cooler months. And while sometimes the bedhead look is hot, other times, that dryness and frizz can get in the way of having an amazing hair day.

And wavy hair wavy? Well, as you may have suspected, it does have to do with genetics, but other factors influence hair growth as well. According to Proctor and Gamble, researchers do not completely understand why some hair twists and turns and some lays flat, but here are the most commonly accepted theories.

I can't get enough of Audrey Tautou's wavy pixie. It has the perfect vintage vibe with a fresh, modern appeal. To duplicate this forever-in-style look, apply a texturizing gel or a curl activating spray to damp hair and let air dry.
