What's Your Biggest Web Annoyance?

MSN recently did a reader poll about the Ten Biggest Web Annoyances (beyond the nagging problems such as e-mail spam, phishing lures, viruses, and spyware) that really got me thinking. The annoyances were categorized by an Annoyance Factor, as in the percentage of readers who were either very annoyed or infuriated by the issue. Predictably, dubious privacy policies ended up with an aggravation factor of 69 percent, beating out difficult online forms and the over commercialization of the web by a landslide. What bugs you the most?

Would You Want a Web-Based Job Interview?

Imagine being able to interview for jobs all over the world - without leaving your hometown?!

Companies LiveHire and LeafsofTalent are looking to blow up the workforce with Webcam Interview Ready Rooms (WIRRs) and Interview Ready Rooms (IRRs), so that employers and potential employees can connect remotely for job interviews. The plus side is, you won't have to worry about whether you should shake their hand.

I think it's an exciting and logical conclusion - phone interviews have long been the standard for preliminary interviews, so this is like a halfway step between that and an a physical, face-to-face interview. Would you want your job interview to be web based?

Web 2.0 Tee: Love It or Leave It?

I can understand being obsessed with all the new social networking sites, but are you that much of a fan that you would wear an entire list of them on a t-shirt? Adam Bartholl and Markus Angermeier have teamed up to create this "Are You Social" tee that lists the best-known social web services with their icons and colors. Discussed on Neatorama, the Web 2.0 shirt lets you mark off what services you use with a pen. Interesting... Talk about making a geek statement without saying a word! What do you think? What's the Greatest Moment in Web History?

PC World recently published an entertaining and thoughtful piece on the 16 Greatest Moments in Web History. It includes The Drudge Report breaking the Monica Lewinsky story, the introduction of webcams, MySpace and even my favorite, Craigslist. Rounding out the top three items on the list are: "When Sergey met Larry," in reference to Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page's first meeting at Stanford University; "Day one of irrational exuberance," in reference to the day Netscape's IPO created the dot-com frenzy - in 1995 the company's shares zoomed from $28 to $75 before settling back down to $58 at the session's close; And of course, "World wide wonder," in reference to December 25, 1990, or the day the Web came online. It may be a chicken or egg question, but what do you think is the most important day in web history?

There is no denying that the Internet is a valuable research tool when it comes to your health, but the web is also chock full of misinformation. So much so that in the year 2000 the American Medical Association requested that patients make a New Year's resolution not to go online to look up medical conditions. In seven years, however, things have changed. Many physicians encourage their patients to discuss their online research with them, but many patients often worry about questioning their doctors.

Which Web Browser Do You Use?

I can honestly say I've been around the web browser block a few too many times. I've used just about everything, including Safari, Internet Explorer, Netscape and now predominately Firefox, which I absolutely love...most of the time. Back in the day early web browsers only supported simple versions of HTML (Netscape for example), whereas now they have become very sophisticated and user-friendly. Since I post a lot of downloads and applications for various browsers, it would be great to know what browser you use to surf the net. Leave your comments below and tell us why you love your browser.

Want to create a website, but not interested in learning HTML or expensing out and having someone build it for you? Well Trendhunter found a site which is entirely written on a fridge and stove. No one belongs here more than you is a website designed by writer Miranda July where she writes her content on the top of her fridge and stove with a dry erase pen, and then takes digital pictures and posts them on the site. Miranda has created this simplistic and endearing site to promote her new book, which is naturally called "No One Belongs Here More Than You."
