Stranger Than Fiction! Man Marries Video Game Character

This past Sunday a man known as "Sal9000" and his fiancé Nene Anegasaki vowed to stay together until death, or a power outage, do them part. You see Sal9000's new wife Nene happens to be a video game character in the addictive Nintendo DS game Love Plus. A priest, live audience, MC, and friends of the happy couple were also present at the event, and the bride's virtual maid of honor even gave a speech. A slideshow recounted how the couple met and teased Sal for being quite the player before he met Nene - he had lots of other video game girlfriends. The whole event was livecasted, and Boing Boing put together the video below so we could all witness this unique wedding.

This story might be the first time I've heard of someone marrying an anime character, but I have read about those who "marry" other inanimate objects. The term "objectum sexuals" describes people who feel attraction, arousal, love, and commitment for objects. One woman even held a ceremony in Paris and married the Eiffel Tower. Talk about nontraditional weddings.

8-Bit Wedding Invite Makes Me Want to Pop the Question

We may be smack dab in the middle of holiday season here on the Sugar Network, but I can't help but share with you this crazy-fun find to whet your palate for next year's wedding season. We already have enough geeky wedding ammo to fuel an entire ceremony, so this 8-Bit wedding invite is the icing on the cake (pun intended).

Complete with binary code speech bubbles, the vintage feel of this wedding invitation I spotted on BuzzFeed has me longing for my arcade days. Of course, if you do rock the old-school invite to your wedding (or DIY it for any occasion), just be sure to have some retro gaming action on hand to complete the feel. Party on!

Liz's Lavish Wedding Ceremony

We thought Katie and Tom's wedding would be the biggest, most lavish upcoming celeb I do's, but it's now sounding like Liz Hurley may just have them beat. She's getting married to Indian businessman Arun Nayer, and plans for her bash to be a big blow out. Liz is still deciding on designers for her dresses. She has it narrowed down to 13 including Versace or Valentino. She doesn't want to offend any of her designer friends so maybe this is why she will have multiple outfit changes throughout the 3 day event in India. Here's more:

The 41-year-old actress and beachwear designer, who has a five-year-old son by former flame Steve Bing, is planning lavish celebrations for her marriage to Indian businessman Arun Nayer. The British ceremony is reported to be taking place at Barnsley House hotel, close to the model's 400-acre home in Ampney Knowle near Cirencester in February next year. Guests including Elton John and the Beckhams will tuck into champagne and canapes at the Grade II listed house, followed by a sumptuous wedding breakfast in a marquee.

But it is the three-day celebrations in India that will provide a spectacular finale. "I love the pomp and ceremony associated with Indian weddings," Elizabeth has said. The second wedding will take place at the opulent Devi Garh boutique hotel, a former Maharaja's palace in Udaipur, where the couple got engaged on November 4 last year. According to sources the groom will arrive on a white horse while Liz might make her entrance on a painted elephant.

Padding Down the Aisle?

Now I may not be ready for marriage anytime soon, but the one thing I am sure of is that little North will play some part in the wedding whenever it is! He already is an "American Gentleman," and all he really needs is a bow-tie collar and poof... insta-suit! I know that including pets in ceremonies can be a controversial choice; it seems like family, friends, venue directors, and even your spouse-to-be will have some opinion on the matter – but I'd only like to hear from you!

What's your take on pets at weddings? Did you (or would you) bring Fido and/or Fluffy along... or do/did you feel like your pet's place was at home?

Cool Idea: A Haunted Wedding

After I wrote my post about California haunted houses, one of my Sugar friends emailed me to say that she'd actually gotten married in one of them!

She writes, "I got married at Madrona Manor in Healdsburg. It’s such a beautiful old house, and the grounds are absolutely breathtaking. The main house is the part that’s supposed to be haunted, and I have to admit, it is a little creepy. It’s charming and old-fashioned, full of gorgeous antiques, but it absolutely feels like a haunted house. We held our ceremony in the gardens, our reception on the patio, and stayed in a carriage house behind the main building, so we pretty much avoided the potentially haunted areas entirely (and that wasn’t an accident)!"

The Office, "Niagara": Best Lines of the Night, Plus Video!

OK, I've discreetly wiped the tears from my eyes post-wedding and have to report that I was pleasantly surprised - after all the hype, The Office managed to pull off unconventional and totally touching nuptials for Jim and Pam.

The video sneak peek didn't give away the wedding surprises - or the moments of hilariousness that arose. I've put together my favorite lines of the episode here, so check them out - and for another Office water cooler, join The Office group in the community!

"A three ounce fetus is calling the shots! That's so badass." - Dwight
Dwight is entranced by Pam's pregnancy, but he and the rest of the office are not exactly sympathetic. That is, until Dwight's peeled egg makes Pam barf, then Andy barf, then a full-on chain reaction barf ensues, reminiscent of the notorious scene in Stand By Me.
"Some of us have to be our own grandmother." - Angela
Angela's uptightness kills me in this episode - from her being offended by Pam's pregnancy to honking incessantly at Kevin in the office parking lot. Hilarious.
"A lot of people told me I was crazy to wait this long for a date with a girl I worked with, but I think even then I knew, I was waiting for my wife." - Jim
Obviously this line isn't funny, but it was possibly my favorite one in the whole episode. It's such a sweet, genuinely Jim thing for him to say at the rehearsal dinner and is one of those moments at any crazy wedding where you remember why you're there. Oh and it's the line that's uttered right before Jim accidentally slips that Pam is pregnant and everything comes crashing down.
"I was dancing and I did a split and I landed on my car keys in my pocket." - Andy
Andy's accident actually sets off many hilarious lines, such as "He is in my room icing his balls," Jim's "No! Let's talk for a long time," and "Andy, did I dream that you were crying through the night?"
"What else you got?!" - Erin
Meek receptionist Erin rarely gets a funny line, but her screaming at Andy to show off another dance move after he was so obviously injured is so funny and timed perfectly.
"I bought those boat tickets the day I saw that YouTube video." - Jim
Pretty sure my jaw dropped when "Forever" from the JK Wedding Entrance dance came on. It's just the kind of cheesy disaster that would befall Jim and Pam, but they've already secretly gotten married, so instead of horror, it's joy on their faces watching their co-workers and family groove down the aisle. The fact that they cut in footage from the ceremony at sea? Perfect.

Mad Men's Christina Hendricks Ties the Knot With Geoffrey Arend!

Christina Hendricks was a vision in white yesterday as she married longtime boyfriend Geoffrey Arend at Il Buco restaurant in NYC. The duo tied the knot after nearly a yearlong engagement, after being introduced at a house party thrown by her Mad Men costar Vincent Kartheiser. While there were the usual crazy moments on last night's episode of their show, Christina and Geoffrey's wedding appeared to go smoothly as planned. Christina has other professional projects in the works, but now's the time to enjoy life as a newlywed.

Kate Hudson Wears a Wedding Dress but Isn't Getting Married

Kate Hudson donned a wedding dress for a shoot with fashion photographer Peter Lindbergh in New York City yesterday, presumably for a future cover of Harper's Bazaar. Since Kate got together with A-Rod there have been rumors that they're engaged or, more recently that she is pregnant, but there's no word that she'll be putting on a white gown for a real ceremony just yet. Kate and Alex are, however, going strong after six months of dating, proving that they're more than just the suspected Summer fling.

Desperate Housewives Rundown Season 6 Premiere "Nice Is Different Than Good"

The season six premiere of Desperate Housewives opens with Mike's much-anticipated wedding and then takes us on a series of flashbacks to the weeks leading up to the big event.

With Edie out of the picture and a new housewife on the block, Mike's marriage isn't the only scandal happening on Wisteria Lane. To chat about the exciting season premiere, just read more.

Susan - She's been avoiding Katherine since she and Mike got back together but is forced to see her when she stops by Bree's house. Hiding behind Lynette, she manages to avoid a confrontation until a delivery man leaves Susan's wedding dress at Katherine's house, leaving her no choice but to go over and pick it up. When Susan stops by, Katherine opens the door wearing the dress - and teases her by cooking red pasta sauce dangerously close to the dress. It's obvious that Katherine is upset about the wedding, but Susan is determined that it be her special day. Susan might have more than Katherine to worry about with Julie back in town being courted by Danny, the new housewife's son.

Bree - Still estranged from Orson and toying with an affair with her divorce lawyer Carl, Bree struggles with her adulterous feelings. When Orson begs her to rethink the divorce and consider counseling, she realizes that "guilt is a small price to pay for happiness" and books a hotel room for a rendezvous with Carl - in clean sheets, of course.

Gaby - Carlos's niece Mariana is living at the house and pushing Gaby's patience. Gaby sees right through Mariana's tricks and tries to keep her teenage ways under control by monitoring what she wears to school and implementing a 10 p.m. curfew. Gaby sees a lot of her teenage self in Mariana and doesn't want her to have to go through the same struggles that she did, so she signs papers to legalize her and Carlos's guardianship over Mariana.

Lynette - Three months pregnant with twins and realizing she'll be 60 years old when they graduate from high school, Lynette is stressed out about the idea of adding two more to the family. In the waiting room at the doctor's office, she scares a young new mom-to-be out of her elation with details about saggy boobs, constant breastfeeding, and absent husbands. Later, she and Tom are together for the first ultrasound, and when she doesn't show any excitement for the babies, Tom confronts her. She breaks down and says she doesn't love the babies liked she loved their other kids. Tom assures her that once she holds them she will, but she doesn't seem too convinced.

Katherine - Crazed from losing Mike, Katherine is a mix of depressed and resentful. She and Susan still haven't spoken since the breakup, and she intends to get a public apology from Susan - at her and Mike's wedding. Susan refuses and locks her in a closet before the ceremony, but she manages to get out and meet them in the aisle after the ceremony. Even after Susan gives in and apologizes in front of the entire church, it's pretty clear that Katherine won't be letting go of her heartbreak, or resentment for Susan, any time soon.

Angie - The mysterious new housewife on the block (spitfire Drea de Matteo) brings her husband Nick and son Danny to Fairview. We see that, obviously, they left some dark past behind when we get a glimpse of some pretty gnarly scars on Angie's back. But Angie won't be the only one stirring things up since Danny seems to have a sordid past too. After he and Julie go on a date and get in a fight and he goes missing after Mike and Susan's wedding, we are left to wonder who mysteriously strangled Julie and escaped the scene.
