If you haven't noticed, it's wedding season here on the Sugar Network and I've been busy telling you how to keep up with your own wedding website, pick out the perfect photographer, and manage all those photos — yours and your guests — after the big day. This week, we're moving into the wedding planning stages, and today I'm talking about slideshows. But this isn't the after-the-event, it-was-such-a-beautiful-day slideshow, this is the slideshow you play during your reception, usually packed with photos of you and your betrothed throughout your relationship together.

In your wedding planning mania, don't forget the touches to the wedding that are distinctly you — and one way to remind your guests of what is you, literally — is photo slideshows! Slideshows are awesome for weddings, whether you want one to show at the wedding, the reception, rehearsal, and showers — as well as making one from the wedding and honeymoon itself, to have for you and your honey to keep for yourselves.
Luckily, software and tech helpers have evolved, preventing your slideshow from being a cheesy affair — remember the days of photo collages at weddings?

Now that you've set up your Online Wedding Registry, it's time for the fun part — adding items! Before you start panicking, listen up — it's totally OK to add big ticket items like TVs or cameras to your registry. Some couples may feel uncomfortable including expensive electronics on their registry list, but if you really need (and/or want) a certain item, go ahead and include it!

Maybe you've seen 'em, maybe you haven't, but there is no denying the wow factor you get from these geeky wedding cakes. Although most of you said that you would go the traditional route, banning all Mario cakes for your nuptials, it's still just so refreshing to see peoples' true (geeky) colors shine through on the big day.
I've featured a few of these cakes already, and some were hidden gems in the vast space of the internet.

This past Sunday a man known as "Sal9000" and his fiancé Nene Anegasaki vowed to stay together until death, or a power outage, do them part. You see Sal9000's new wife Nene happens to be a video game character in the addictive Nintendo DS game Love Plus. A priest, live audience, MC, and friends of the happy couple were also present at the event, and the bride's virtual maid of honor even gave a speech.

Young ladies commonly fill the role of flower girl in weddings. While the invitation to take part in the bride and groom's life changing event is an honor, it also can be a big time and money commitment for the lil one's mom and pop. Check out our slideshow for things you should know before having your daughter take part in the nuptials.

These days people rarely get married without sending save the date cards. They are wonderful because they let your guests know well in advance about your wedding. Although it's not absolutely necessary, if you're having a destination wedding, be sure to send save the date cards so your friends and family can think about travel arrangements.
