I love the look of old Western ranch buildings, from their open, timber-framed ceilings to their massive stone fireplaces. However, even the most classic of cowboy designs often needs an update. For instance, how about trading the Frederick Remington reproduction print for a more modern Gretchen Wagoner collage painting?

Recently one of my girlfriends moved out of the city to the countryside. Her new home has (drum roll please) a barn! I've been waiting all my life to host a Western-style hoedown in an authentic barn and she's agreed to let me plan one instead of hosting a housewarming party.

Yesterday, we discussed some of the challenges children of immigrants face trying to deal with clashing cultural values, but the following case is extreme.
Police are still looking for a Peoria, AZ, man originally from Iraq who allegedly ran down his daughter and her friend with his SUV to punish her for becoming "too Westernized."
Faleh Hassan Almaleki ran down his daughter Noor and her friend Amal Edan Khalaf in a parking lot on Tuesday, resulting in his daughter's hospitalization for life-threatening injuries while Khalaf, whose injuries were less severe, is also in the hospital.

David Beckham kicked off his weekend on a high note, as he and the Galaxy took home the Western Conference MLS title on Saturday afternoon after beating the San Jose Earthquakes. While his fans were probably thrilled at the win, everyone in the stands got another treat by catching a glimpse of shirtless Becks. He celebrated with his three main men, getting Pinkberry with Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz yesterday.

Morrissey collapsed with breathing difficulties while performing at a gig in Swindon last night. He was performing The Smiths classic "This Charming Man" when a couple of his band members had to carry him off stage. The local ambulance service put out this statement:
"Just after 9pm we got a call to a 50-year-old who was reported to be suffering from respiratory problems and was unconscious.

Can you spot a spaghetti-Western flick from some smoky shades of eye makeup? Sure, it might be a little goofy, but that's the whole point.
