Robbie Williams Clears Up Confusion: "We're Not Engaged"

Despite his own Mum confirming the news yesterday, Robbie Williams has cleared up all the engagement confusion today with a short and simple statement on his website:

We are not engaged

So his manager was right, and he's had to correct his mum - I wonder how long it will be before she gets the daughter-in-law that she said she wants!

Updated: Robbie Williams Proposes to Ayda on the Radio, Now His Mum Confirms It's True!

Robbie Williams proposed to his girlfriend Ayda Field live on 2Day FM in Sydney yesterday! After talking about proposals with the show's hosts he turned to Ayda and said: "I love you so much. Would you be my betrothed until the end of time?" It was a lighthearted moment, but Robbie has been talking about marrying Ayda - his girlfriend of three years - a lot recently and they certainly seemed happy as they joked together on the show - listen here!

The pair have just left Sydney, and were mobbed by press at the airport! Robbie's manager told GMTV this morning that the proposal was just a bit of fun - I wonder how long we'll have to wait for the two to make it official?

UPDATE: Despite his manager's protests this morning, Robbie's mum Jan has now confirmed that the news is true on BBC Radio 5 Live. She said he'd revealed his plan to her a week ago, and said:

"I've always wanted a daughter-in-law. I don't think [the wedding] will be that far in the not-too-distant future, but that's all I'm going to say on that. I'm very excited. I'm really pleased. They've been together for nearly three years, so it's about time. She's a great mate, as well as a lover. She's got all the qualities that he needs in a girl. It's a lovely match."

It's not been revealed whether the radio proposal was for real, or if Robbie proposed previous to the show. Congratulations to them both!

Robbie Represents the Brits on the ARIAs Red Carpet

We saw Robbie Williams out in Sydney yesterday as he prepared to do a small gig in the city, and today he's been walking the red carpet at the ARIAs. The awards ceremony is the Australian equivalent of the Brit Awards, and Robbie's performing at the event. Also attending and posing on the red carpet was Sia, Bindi Irwin, Keith Urban, Daniel Merriweather and Kate Richie. Robbie said he was feeling calm and relaxed before his performance of "Bodies", but he won't be celebrating at the afterparty. Rob says he'll be going back to the hotel and catching up on episodes of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here!

Robbie Williams Arrives In Australia, Won't Tour For A While

Robbie Williams posed for photographers in the sun before a press conference in Australia today, looking handsome in a checked shirt and jeans. He was definitely looking smarter than when he first got off the plane in the country, wearing a sweater covered in stains! Robbie's management is currently looking into investors as his record deal with EMI comes to an end, asking for offers to buy half of his next album, plus touring and sponsorship earnings. Following in the footsteps of artists like David Bowie, this different way of doing business may be the path that he follows - still he was still adamant he won't tour for a while when he spoke to the press today. He said:

"There's no plans to do a tour like the last one I did. I know what happens to me and where it takes me and which rehab I end up in. I will tour again but it won't be any time soon. I have that mechanism inside of me that enjoys not choosing life, that has it inbuilt in my DNA to want to get high. I don't think that ever leaves. I'm sure it won't ... It's a really unnatural situation to find yourself in. It's such high highs in front of that many people at the stadiums ... and then you go back to the hotel and you go, oh I've eaten the mini-bar again and the Internet isn't doing what it should do and I'm bored with that. After nine months of living in an air-conditioned room and just going to the gig you kind of crack a bit. You lose the plot."

Let's hope it's not too long before he's comfortable on the stage again!

The Yellow Handkerchief: See It or Skip It?

The trailer for Kristen Stewart's film The Yellow Handkerchief has been released, along with news the film will be released in the US on 12 Feb. 2010. Kristen plays a troubled teen alongside William Hurt, Mario Bello and Eddie Redmayne in the movie, which follows three strangers on a road trip in post-Hurricane Katrina Louisiana. Producer Arthur Cohn said Kristen was recommended for the part by Jodie Foster, and added: "The part of Kristen in Twilight is completely different from the one she plays in The Yellow Handkerchief, which is particularly interesting for Kristen's fans all over the world." Wills Parties Like a Prince and Supports Charity and Country

Prince William wore a casual outfit of bodywarmer, jeans and trainers for a night out at Raffles on Saturday, grinning wide as he climbed into his car after leaving the club at 3.25am. It's been a couple of months since we last saw Wills out clubbing, and just last week we spotted Kate Middleton at a film premiere. Wills has arranged his trip to New Zealand and Australia to make sure the couple will be together to celebrate Kate's 28th birthday on 9 January, as he missed her last two birthdays. It looks like Wills is doing a great job balancing his social and personal life with his official duties, and has set up the Charitable Foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry, which will give grants to needy young people and wounded service personnel. As FA President, Wills has also given his backing to England's 2018 World Cup bid, saying:

"England's love for the game is world renowned. Football is in our blood. We're proud of our great cultural diversity. We will offer a warm, home-from-home welcome to all the participating teams and their supporters. As a nation, we are united behind the bid. Speaking personally, I am very proud to be supporting it. I believe, with England's great passion for the game, we will stage a World Cup to remember forever. A first-class festival of football. 1966 and football are one in England's psyche and collective memory. It is the stuff of legend. For young people like myself, who were not around to experience the pride and excitement of that time, the opportunity to live it first hand will be an enormous privilege."

Beyonce and Jay-Z Party With JLS in London

Beyonce is in London for the UK leg of her tour and she's been partying all over town this weekend with Jay-Z and the JLS boys. On Friday she wore a white and silver dress at Kanaloa with the guys, and last night she wore an all-black ensemble at Whisky Mist after her concert at the O2, where she was joined on stage by Kanye West and Jay-Z, and she's brought so much luggage with her that she's reportedly had to book a hotel room just for her bags! At the club last night Beyonce helped Aston Merrygold, Marvin Humes, Oritse Williams and JB Gill celebrate their album beating Robbie Williams to number one spot. The sweet moment followed a devastating day for the lads, when a number of their fans were crushed as they performed at Birmingham's Christmas lights switch on. We wish a speedy recovery to those who were hurt.

Serena Williams Named Woman of the Year

Looks like having a potty mouth won't hurt you too much. Serena Williams is one of 11 outstanding ladies Glamour magazine has chosen for its Women of the Year issue.

Glamour cites Williams's competitive spirit and drive as a testament to her success, even in the face of hardships like the tragic murder of her sister Yetunde and her rise through the rankings after suffering injuries in 2006. This year it all came full circle for Williams when she captured the Wimbledon victory against her sister, Venus - whom she credits as being a major force in motivating her to work the hardest and become the best.

Besides her Wimbledon victory, Williams has 11 Grand Slam titles, two Olympic gold medals, and has earned more prize money than any female athlete in history. But her trophies and bank account aren't the only reason Glamour thinks Williams is tops. Between winning matches, she's managed to start her own clothing line, pen an autobiography, and open a school in Kenya through her Serena Williams Foundation.

Who else did Glamour name as Women of the Year? Some of the other notables Williams holds court with are Michelle Obama, Maria Shriver, Rihanna, and poet Maya Angelou.

Emotional Robbie Finally Reunites With Take That On Stage

As expected, Robbie Williams joined his old Take That band mates on stage at the Royal Albert Hall last night as part of the Children In Need concert. It was the first time in 15 years Robbie had performed alongside Howard, Mark, Gary and Jason, and he was understandably emotional and was in tears. Although Robbie and Take That didn't perform a song as a five-piece, they did sing together in the show's finale performance of "Hey Jude" alongside Paul McCartney and the other acts who performed on the night, like Leona Lewis. Cheryl Cole performed with Snow Patrol, Lily Allen joined Take That for "Shine", and Shirley Bassey and Dizzee Rascal sang together. Check out video of Robbie's TT reunion after the jump!
